44:20 The FAA has sole authority over the airspace in the US. Military bases and Disneyland, for example, have restricted airspace zones. Some are temporary, some are permanent (even if they are called "temporary"). States and local governments can ONLY legislate where you can take off and land, NOT where you fly.
I talked to a senior engineer at Northrop Grumman and he stated in the department of defense there is a difference between a drone and UAV. Drones have an automated flight path, and an UAV is remote controlled.
This dude shouldn't be complaining that regulations are being put in place to prevent incidents with aircraft just because it has not happened yet. As more and more people acquire drones and as drone technology progresses, this likelihood of an incident that could potentially down an airliner and kill hundreds of people will increase for sure.
Agreed. I live four miles from an airport and I have to register my larger drones and cannot exceed 1000 feet within 2 miles of the airport, and I don't complain one bit. I'd rather not kill a bunch of people just because I want a cool shot of an eagle flying around.
There's a difference between a $100 consumer drone with a 20-min battery life and a $30 million Reaper drone that can launch missiles on the other side of the planet.
DRONE - Military UAV used for spying on and killing people. Range with remote vision, hundreds of kilometres. QUADCOPTER - The things people like me get to fly. Range with remote vision about half a kilometre before the signal gets very sus. They really aren't quite the same thing. Just for clarification :)
As for the best drones, DJI is the most well known company, but hubsan makes a damn good drone as well! They have everything from mini, to racing, fps and you don't have to take out a second mortgage to own one
Yo Forrest or Jack, please prep General hints for Jim so that they are more entertaining than: something you had in your house. So many of these hints are related to Jim personally. I think judging a book by its cover would be much better with good general hints
Staffordshire / Birmingham can lay claim (by birth) to three rock icons who you wouldn't necessarily associate with the area in the form of Lemmy, Slash and also Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy). They might not have achieved their full genius had they also grown up there, but would have been way more funny to listen to speaking.
RTF drones (ready to fly) come fully assembled and usually include a transmitter, where BNF (bind and fly) come as kits.. essentially a motherboard and a ton of parts you assemble yourself and bind to a transmitter.
Jimmy goes on his trains of thought which we absolutely love to hear and a great yarn blossoms from it most times but sometimes the yanks are too serious and keep hurrying him to the next question and it kills the vibe. Fake laughing at his jokes ven if they don't understand just to make a noise for the microphone crikey it annoys me
You probably could have interviewed me a lot cheaper, I've been a drone pilot for years...and I'm a huge Jim Jefferies fan, I would have done it for free!
Guys - love the podcast. Have watched every single one and thoroughly loved every one from jay leno on cars through to poker. Literally not a bad episode…. Until this one. Nearly turned over several times. Sorry bu the first was awful and boring and the topic was not interesting. I hope this isn’t the start of a decline. Hope next weeks is better. ❤
He sure knows a lot about decimating our enemies while keeping our own causalities at a minimum. People talk about civilian casualties, but don't seem to have perspective of the last 100 years, or even contemporary times (fighting an enemy that directly targets and hides behind civilians, it's inevitably going to have a larger number of civilian casualties).
@@PlayNiceFolks define "enemies". Name ONE country that the USA has invaded after WW2 that attacked the USA? Obama's drones had a 90% innocent civilians death rate, 40% of those were children. You live in a fantasy world, war is not a videogame. Why was the USA in Afghanistan for 20 years? Why did the USA killed a million people in Iraq? Why is the USA in Syria today stealing 80% of oil production? You disgust me trying to justify the USAs drone use.
✨🎃✨I disagree. The Husbeast purchases full size candy bars. Like the 3 cup Reese’s, 4 sticks Twix. We set up a whole spread and also make sure to have a nut free table too. The kids always get excited and we get a few hundred probably because our neighbors do a haunted house each year. It’s fun. All the years we’ve only had one kid try to take the whole box and It was a cute little toddler with their parents running up behind shouting “nooo!” And “I’m sorry!” 😹🫶🏻
Thanks a lot guys this was a lot of fun
I love AndyRC! Jim Jefferies is credible now!
Compilations are the best category I've found.
This is such an underrated podcast
WOOO lo e Stoke getting a shout out!
Dissection kills the Frog
What's the point in Jim guessing every week if Forrest is just gonna basically hand feed the answer to him?
Philadelphia has good weather
Another Beatles episode, you are spoiling us.
😂
9:53 Chime is a financial technology company not a bank. 10:09 Chime was the 2021 most downloaded banking app in the US according to Apptopia.
Wut.
29:43 - a "Bando" is what you call Din Djarin when you have a cold.... ;)

What the fack? I didn't know you had a show! Just made my day!
jim looks great in a suit!
another cool episode, but very surprised to not hear anything about Ukraine in this
I've been with Mint since the start of 2022!
Go AndyRc well done the whole episode was fun 👍
I talked to a senior engineer at Northrop Grumman and he stated in the department of defense there is a difference between a drone and UAV. Drones have an automated flight path, and an UAV is remote controlled.
They all have some source of remote control. Military drones have to be able to operate in GPS denied areas, which means using dead reckoning to RTB.

You mean, like prohibition cured alcoholism? When you legislate it, the problem goes away, huh?
Hehe poor Andy is trying to describe something about a question asked and Jim goes off on a random tangent! LOL
In new zealand my father work in drone lawandforcment and safety for the civil aviation
99% of the podcast is about hobby grade drones. It would be great to ask an expert about military UAS groups 1-5, like the V-BAT using AI.
Pretty sure that would be breaking some sort of classified information type of thing.
"Have terrorists ever used drones?"
You answered that near the beginning Jim. The US has been using drones to commit terrorist acts for decades.
There's a difference between a $100 consumer drone with a 20-min battery life and a $30 million Reaper drone that can launch missiles on the other side of the planet.
Balls to the walls was from the regulator on steam engines. Sorry Jim, nothing to do with WW2.
There is an excellent show currently on NASA TV talking about drones and other flying vehicles for future air space control options. Very good.
Denmark?
AndyRC got the ground-based drone wrong. We (the mining industry) even have boats for bathymetry sonar that are 'drones'.
Great to see Andy RC on the show.
trying to mentally figure out (math) how many grams in X amount of pounds (and giving up) WHILE sitting in front of a COMPUTER !
priceless
250 grams is about 2 sticks of butter 🧈
@@danpayerle hmm interesting....2 sticks of butter also equals 1 cup of drone x)

It is a bit like calling remote-controlled cars "tanks". Unfortunately, some people know drones as toys, and others know them as death.
As for the best drones, DJI is the most well known company, but hubsan makes a damn good drone as well! They have everything from mini, to racing, fps and you don't have to take out a second mortgage to own one
when is the Europe tour?
Someone hovered a drone outside my window and I tried to shoot it with my B.B. gun. I missed. Hope it comes back, ready for it now.

LOL.... Ween.
I doubt I'm gonna listen to this whole thing so the answer to the last one is falconry

Colin Fuzz has already made a drone which he sat on and flew. It on utube.
India was supposed to start mass production on a single person drone craft before the pandemic...I wonder what happened to that

This was fun to read aloud
38:06 Hobby Lobby has drones? The place with arts and crafts and tacky decor? And not a fan of the woman with the ability to choose baby or no baby.
“Drones are now cool” they aren’t mate. Ever.
Wrong
Everything with Chips could be from taiwan
With IR cameras they can see a lot farther in a straight line.
*Haven't watched to the end yet*
So the DIY would stand for "Do the FLYING yourself" kind of, rather than "Do" as in "Build it yourself", technically?

Kinda surprised that Jim didn't ask "what if a woman is flying it? Is that a uav?" 🤣
