My brother and I use to build forts in the woods behind our house. He had a small, dull hatchet that he used to cut down saplings. We used vines to tie the pieces together to make walls and a roof. It took about 2 weeks to get that done. It was only tall enough to crawl in but it was big enough to seat 2 eight years Olds and 4 12 year Olds. I'd bring dolls in and a plates and cups. We would take lunch and stay gone all day. Such fun times.
Thank you! When I'm there I forget how stressful the world is. My hope is that others who watch can escape the negativity of today's world even for a short while. Thanks for watching!
Lovely little cabin. Very quaint. Great to see kindred sprits enjoying the simplicity of life within the beautiful surroundings of nature. It feeds the soul. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
That's a nice hideout. Peace and quiet, nice view. Have to expect some visitors/ants with untreated wood. Part of nature. At our age, that's a dream escape. But nothing ends the day like a cold brew, camp fire, and a place to relax:-) Happy dreams. PS. You need an old hat as someone suggests and only other thing missing is a good old dog for company.
@@deerriverwild My off grid cabin is not far from my rural home in northern Michigan, 13 miles, far enough but close enough to enjoy without a very long trek. Great video, from a fellow simple life off gridder!
New viewer. I love your hermit cabin. I’d like to build one in my backyard. 😊 I think my interest began with childhood forts. My first boyfriend showed his devotion by building me a treehouse over the water in Sitka, AK. My bestie and I spent quite a few nights having sleepovers during those glorious Alaskan springs/summers. It had carpeting and opening windows. I love your sacred space.
@@deerriverwild my current house has a mini grove of juniper cypress close to the house. I need to get rid of some branches and would love to put a platform a story off the ground, better yet a treehouse.
We have a cabin in the Catskills. When we arrive in the spring after being gone for many months there are lots of mouse turds and the heavy smell of mouse pee on everything. The state of NY is obsessed with keeping things as wild as possible - they’re proud of their pristine watershed and forever wild places. Nice cabin you’ve got there! Have fun.
Yes. The mice love my cabin. I actually have some game cam footage of them up to their mischief. I'm careful not to leave food where they can get it. Thank you for the great comment and thanks for watching!
Nice country side view. A lot of folks don't think of New York State as being so beautiful, but get out of the cities and it's very nice. God bless and thanks for sharing.
When we close our camper for the winter we store all of the items in the bottom cabinets in plastic bins to keep them safe from uninvited guests during out absence.
They sell bedbug poof mattress covers. I think storing your mattress and cloth items in one might be a way to keep them sort of fresh. If you can also keep them good and dry it could help too.
Hello there, new viewer from the UK. Amazing location but I couldn’t help but wonder how many snakes there are in all that foliage! I Look forward to watching your future videos 😊
I hope nobody intruded your cabin. Looks like there are a lot of workings to do. Watch out for snakes. I hope there are no crocs in the lake. Keep safe & God bless you on your adventure.
