The “chrome os is missing or damaged.” is for older chromebooks. The newer chromebooks say insert usb. Just press Ctrl d on the please insert a usb stick screen.

Hey Mikus, Sorry, but it sounds like Forced Enrollment is still turned on. The video I made was for devices sold by my school, we had turned off the forced enrollment. If that is still on I do not know how to get around it. Can you contact the place you purchased the CB?

When I connected to a public network I got the message that the device is managed by our domain. I am not positive that will happen on every managed device though.
General BigMac_ you can use the recovery tool on any computer, it can be a Windows or Mac or Chromebook. And you can enter recovery mode by pressing esc+refresh+power (this cannot be administrator blocked, this is part of the OS)

You don't need to let it wait for the unit to transition into dev mode. When it says "transitioning into developer mode", simply hit refresh+ power, then space + enter and you're good to go!! I've done this a hundred times or so, it works every time. Just trying to save you all the 10 minutes that it takes to go into dev mode and come out of it. If your device says "disabled developer" and it's enrolled, you must contact the school.
It didn't work on mine. (Thanks anyway) I've watched countless vids on how to reset it, and mine won't let me do any of the things mentioned. I bought it on ebay. and I can't see where it came from, to maybe contact the prior school admin. I was really hoping this would solve the issue... Admins should never block these where they can't be restored. and they should factory reset, and unlock controls, on each one, before selling!! Then we wouldn't have to keep searching for something to resolve the issue.

You can use any gmail account. I think you need Internet access the first time.

Recovery cannot be blocked unless they modified the OS
