I have the same laptop. Bought it off Marketplace. Turns out, it was likely stolen from a local library years ago. Its still somewhat usable, but I'd rather not have the management. @@SAMSTRECKER Hey taking the battery out does not let the Chromebook start even when it is plugged in and if I leave it on and then take out the battery it still won't restart I made a mistake as well its an Acer c781 series.

When you open the computer there will be a wifi M.2 card, thing with two wires connected to it, and then below it the M.2 SSD. You will want to replace the M.2 SSD below the wifi card with a new drive. This should get rid of any enrollment they have.

Hello, this chromebook uses a soldered SSD. So your best bet is to disconnect the battery and wait 15 minutes. Then plug the computer in directly to the charger and see if you can enable dev mode and power wash it. If that doesn't work I might be able to find a schematic for the Infineon SLB9655TT1.2 TPM it uses and short the pins to clear it.
Hey man, I own a Lenovo 300e 2nd gen which i’m aware has a soldered hard drive to the motherboard, so can I just find a motherboard on eBay to replace for that Chromebook?
Yeah swapping the motherboard is the easiest and least invasive option if the drive is soldered. When it is time to return the device just swap the old motherboard back in
Hey Sam ! I recently bought a chromebook but I realized now that they are administered by an organization, most likely a school. And it’s a dell Chromebook 11 3189. How can I fix it and make it unmanaged by that school ?
@@SAMSTRECKER thank you for your answer, but what do you mean by plug the computer directly into the charger do you mean just charge the computer or does that mean something else? And how do I power wash it? Sorry for all the questions but this would be a big help! ( also just earned urself a loyal subscriber)
Hey, I tried what u said and i couldn’t power wash it because I don’t have a off button on my keyboard. The iPhone is on the side and when I ever I press on it to power wash, it, just shut down the computer. What do you think would be another choice?
No. However, If you are a student and need the chromebook enrolled again to run programs/take exams, or if the school asks to see the chromebook, yes they will see you unenrolled it, and you may get into trouble depending on the circumstances. If not no, that's the whole point of unenrolling the system, as it's a last ditch complicated effort to use a chromebook you can't use, but yeah.
Yes anyone can do this! It can be intimidating the first time for sure but there's no reason to be scared! Just follow a couple rules of thumb and you'll never expose yourself or the chromebook to danger. The main things to consider are, work on a clear surface to prevent spills, never touch the screw driver across multiple solder points to prevent short circuiting, the bottom cover is held with plastic tabs so sometimes it feels like they are going to break but they won't, and finally just take your time! There's no rush and no sense in making mistakes trying to. You got this!
Unfortunately the SSD is soldered onto the motherboard for that chromebook. I would try the battery/screw method first then we can see what works from there!
Hello, how are you? I recently had a laptop a chromebook asus flip CX5 (CX5500FEA-E60001). I looked at your tutorial (I’m not changing the SSD because I don’t want to keep anything on the computer) but I followed everything else and it doesn’t work. I have the USB key with the right program but each time at the end of the manipulation it gives me an error message with written "Your device is locked". I can’t get rid of this message because the administrator is blocking the computer. Could you help me? Thank you very much
Hello, try removing or disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. It may clear the TPM and remove the lock. After powerwashing don't allow the chromebook to connect to the internet. This also may allow it to boot without the admin lock
@SAM STRECKER I have a Acer C511 BOBBA 360 board fully managed by some organization still. I bought this Chromebook about a year ago 2nd hand. I don't have access to developer mode - it seems it is fully managed on the device itself. Is there somewhere that I can get in touch with you for further discussion?
So I can do this and sell my Chromebook? I've had this for like 4 years now and it's just been sitting here and my school said they won't take it back😂
The chromebook is still the school's property though. If I ever did this, I would be in big trouble. Also, because it is school property, is this illegal?
I would be in SO much trouble for doing this. On top of that, I already have two web filter violations for trying to go to a proxy website and trying to access an ILLEGAL website.
How would I unenterprise enroll a hp g4 chromebook? Same method or does it require soldering? Also I heard somewhere that taking cmos out for a minute and putting it back in would register it with a new serial number unenterprising it. Do you know if that would be true or false?
The SSD is soldered and yes the CMOS method would still work, or at least easy to try. While chromebooks don't have a tradational CMOS button cell battery they still might have a capacitor that holds charge from the battery. So when you disconnect the battery this capacitor discharges slowly and when empty the brains of the enrollment are effectively wiped or reset.
@@SAMSTRECKER I was told the same for a hp g8 ee but not 100% sure if true. I was told to just remove the battery for 30 seconds to a minute and put it back in and it would wipe the enrollment

Hello, first I would try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and plugging it directly into the charger without the battery plugged in inside. It should power on and may allow you to enter dev mode and power wash.
Yes but they are less likely to work or more specialized. You can try disconnecting the battery internally for 15 minutes then plugging the computer directly into the charger. Then you can try powerwashing and it may remove the protection and wipe the TPM protecting the enrollment. Make sure to sign in with a personal account first and not your domains email as it will auto enroll itself again

If the school/company did an awful job at enrolling/locking it, you could get lucky just doing that/control refresh d/a powerwash. But realistically, you have to if you're lucky enough your chromebook is supported under a complicated crack/exploit that factory resets the hard drive through usb boot. Or if that doesn't work, you will have to do this video/remove the harddrive and do other motherboard tampering. Or you could have a newer chromebook that's fully patched altogether.

Would this just be a main problem with the drive or would it entail something different is wrong? Something to add as well, when I press the refresh key and power button nothing happens except the little light blinks momentarily once and turns off.
@@basedrojas8231 yeah it sounds like you corrupted your OS. You’ll need another PC to download the chromeOS from the Google store to create a bootable installer to put chromeOS back on it
Hey, i have a Dell chromebook from my old school 3 years ago and my chromebook didnt have that screw, is there a way i can unenroll the chromebook from the school without buying anything, if i need to buy something then i will try
Do you know the model number of the chromebook

Hello Im from a foreign country I need some advice on my laptops I bought online Chromebook gen Z has Japanese letters they have management and I wanted to use for school thankyou.
for my chrombook the storage is sauterd in, what can I do then the model isacer c871 series btw
You can try taking the battery out and waiting 15 minutes. Then plug the chromebook into the charger without reconnecting the battery and try to powerwash with esc+refresh+power
@@SAMSTRECKER Hey taking the battery out does not let the Chromebook start even when it is plugged in and if I leave it on and then take out the battery it still won't restart I made a mistake as well its an Acer c781 series.
wait im confused when did you change out the chip, and how
The little chip is the M.2 SSD. M.2 is the form factor for the SSD. There is one screw on the top that holds it down and you pull it out sorta like RAM slots
I want to ask is this a c720 or a c740? They are similar in looks but different cpu
If it has a removable M.2 SSD then it should work perfectly
@@SAMSTRECKER they both have removable ssd its just the c740 has android app support the c720 dosent
could something like this work for my HP laptop?
I have an old Acer Extensa 5220 ,would that work too ?
would this work for HP Chromebook 11 G3/G4/G4 EE?
Can I swap the drives without the recovery stuff and still use it?
Yes but you will need a bootable hard drive with an OS on it
So what happens if you try to change out the m.2 drive and boot Chromeos from a usb?
Might work but depends on the enrollment protection the chromebook has
Hi, I have a Samsung Chromebook and its enrolled/managed by someone. Please… what is the alternative why to unlocked it?
Hello, what model do you have? Thanks
I have this exact chrome book, but the developer option is disable , will this still work???
Yeah it should
Hey, I have a chromebox from work. Is there anyway I can remove the admin so I can use the pc as I can’t get past the login page now as I’ve left the job. Would really appreciate the help, thank you 😊
Hello, do you know what brand of chromebook you have? Thanks
@@SAMSTRECKER acer, thank you for the reply
@@SAMSTRECKER also it’s a acer chromebox, it’s not a Chromebook, it requires a monitor :)
@@mikestepz3945 Okay sweet if it's a chromebox then all you need is to find an M.2 SSD to swap with the original drive. When you open the computer there will be a wifi M.2 card, thing with two wires connected to it, and then below it the M.2 SSD. You will want to replace the M.2 SSD below the wifi card with a new drive. This should get rid of any enrollment they have.
@@SAMSTRECKER brilliant thank you, so do I take out the M.2 SSD and replace it with another one?

Hello Sam, I have a Asus Chromebook C202XA and im wondering if i would be able to unenroll it and if so then where will i be able to get the SSD.
So i unplug it for 15 mins then plug it back in and THEN put the charger in?
@@UsmaanAdalat Don't plug the battery in after 15 minutes. Plug it directly into the charger. It will still power on
@@SAMSTRECKER oh right
i tried to do it and i plugged the battery in and it didnt work no wonder
What do I do if chromebook recovery utility is blocked?
@@vivipettiss5832 do you mean from the web store or developer mode to allow the recovery utility to work?
Question do you need a drive???
No you can format your own but you would need an additional computer to do so. You also loose a backup of all your files on the computer
If I use this method can I get tracked by my school or in any trouble
they can't track you once the school hardware is out
Hey man, I own a Lenovo 300e 2nd gen which i’m aware has a soldered hard drive to the motherboard, so can I just find a motherboard on eBay to replace for that Chromebook?
Yeah swapping the motherboard is the easiest and least invasive option if the drive is soldered. When it is time to return the device just swap the old motherboard back in
would this be possible with the Acer chromebook 11 (C732)? i dont see an m.2 drive in it
heyy would this work on a 100e gen 3 chromebook?
No that has a soldered SSD. You can use shimmer instead
@@nocommentarygaming2644You should always use sh1mmer anyway, this tutorial is bull, as the enterprise enrollment is on the tpm damnit.
Hey Sam ! I recently bought a chromebook but I realized now that they are administered by an organization, most likely a school. And it’s a dell Chromebook 11 3189. How can I fix it and make it unmanaged by that school ?
You can first try unplugging the battery and waiting 15 minutes. Then plug the computer directly into the charger and try to power wash it
@@SAMSTRECKER thank you for your answer, but what do you mean by plug the computer directly into the charger do you mean just charge the computer or does that mean something else? And how do I power wash it? Sorry for all the questions but this would be a big help! ( also just earned urself a loyal subscriber)
@@alhammohamed7101 Don't plug the battery in again. To power the laptop you need to plug it into the charger
Hey, I tried what u said and i couldn’t power wash it because I don’t have a off button on my keyboard. The iPhone is on the side and when I ever I press on it to power wash, it, just shut down the computer. What do you think would be another choice?
Would u mind if I sent u an email of how the bottom of the Chromebook looks ? I think it would help you understand my question better.
Does this method work for a c/b with enterprise enrollment? I will have to open the case! Thank you 🤓
It should work, it really depends on the model of chromebook though as there are dozens of different chassis designs
@@SAMSTRECKER yes, thank you 🤓
Do you have to find a same one or can you just not have one ?
You need a hard drive for the computer to work. You can technically get a different kind as long as it is the same size
I have an HP Chromebook 11 G9 EE. Please help me unenroll it. TIA
Will the school know if you do this?
@@Crazylegs22 no, not unless you tell them or indirectly infer it’s unenrolled
@ that’s why you can keep the old SSD and replace it when it needs to be enrolled. You can then hotswap when needed
can any age do this? i want to do this but i’m scared i would mess up
Yes anyone can do this! You got this!
how do i replace a dell 3100? I can’t find the hard drive. please help !!

Is it possible to go through all of this with out opening the google store? I cant get into this one, and the developer options are blocked.
Yeah for sure, just download the chromeos image to a USB drive from another PC
how would i do this with a flash drive?
@SAM STRECKER I have a Acer C511 BOBBA 360 board fully managed by some organization still.
I bought this Chromebook about a year ago 2nd hand. I don't have access to developer mode - it seems it is fully managed on the device itself. Is there somewhere that I can get in touch with you for further discussion?
I looked at the PCB online and it looks possible to unenroll! You can email me samstrecker11@gmail.com with more details! Thanks
So I can do this and sell my Chromebook? I've had this for like 4 years now and it's just been sitting here and my school said they won't take it back😂
Yes you will be able to sell what's rightfully yours
How to unenroll Lenvovo 100e?

Should be fine as long as the drive is socketed and can be removed
is there anyway for me to turn of auto enroll?
devn mode then power wash. Or disabled wifi/connect to a phones hotspot. Also sign in with a personal gmail account
The chromebook is still the school's property though. If I ever did this, I would be in big trouble. Also, because it is school property, is this illegal?

How do I do it with a Lenovo s330
I was told to just remove the battery for 30 seconds to a minute and put it back in and it would wipe the enrollment

hey, i was wondering if you could help me unenroll my lenovo 100e 2nd gen (model name is 81ma if that helps) i opened it up but i didn’t see any screw. i would really appreciate if you could help me ❤
Hello, first I would try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and plugging it directly into the charger without the battery plugged in inside. It should power on and may allow you to enter dev mode and power wash.
bro is there any other way to unenroll without buying the SSD
Yes but they are less likely to work or more specialized. You can try disconnecting the battery internally for 15 minutes then plugging the computer directly into the charger. Then you can try powerwashing and it may remove the protection and wipe the TPM protecting the enrollment. Make sure to sign in with a personal account first and not your domains email as it will auto enroll itself again

Thank you so much. This helped a lot

Just press esc refresh power and press Ctrl d enter enter and boot your computer and it will be unenrolled
