    I still remember you lost a sony on the PCT.
    The drone shots are much appreciated. Great extra sauce in the videos.
    I use a special "right angle" adapter for charging my garmin watch. the adapter allows use of a regular usb-c. at least on mine the charging port is super annoying. The right angle makes it a little more manageable.

      I’ll look into that adapter when I get back. Yeah, charging it is kind of annoying but I usually get at least a week out of one charge

    Your lens choices make me feel better about what I'm taking on my next hike. I've never carried anything other than a phone on trail before, and have been going back and forth on what to bring. I use Canon, but my choices are pretty similar to yours. I expect to shoot 90% still photos, and 10% video. Hopefully I get a couple shots worthy of a place my wall.
    Thanks for what you do.

    God bless you for carrying that gear bro lol. The Sony 85 is one of the sharpest lenses in the Sony lineup in my opinion. Zeiss 55 and 85 are my favorites. Your content and video and audio quality is always top notch and the best out there. I usually watch it on a big screen TV and it comes through amazing. I hope you have a hell of a great time and stay injury free. See ya on IG brother.

    This is great stuff man! I’m planning to film my first vlog/backpacking trip next month. Just a quick four-day trip on the Timberline Trail in Oregon. Bringing a Sony a6600 with a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 and a Sony 11mm f/1.8, my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I’m considering an Insta360 or the same drone you’ve got. You’ve been a big inspiration and I’m looking forward to watching you tackle this trail.

    Hey man! I just started watching your stuff (discovered you on the Scotland trail) I really appreciate this stuff, since I geek out over my camera gear more than my backpacking gear. I rock the XT4 and the Tamron 17 - 70mm. I think its the sweet spot, for backpacking. 17 for selfie more, or in tents, all the way to 70 for the buttery portraits. Although I need a nice smallerish prime for night/astrophotography. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing you in Sweden!

    • @SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS
      @SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS  Год назад +1

      All I do is put them in a zip lock bag and stuff that in an old sock. I know, very technical. I’m sure there are better ways but that’s what I did in Scotland and it worked fine. I just make sure I put my lenses at the top of my pack so they don’t get crushed and they are accessible

    One more question, how do you get all this equipment, pack, and gear through the airport. Do you check part of it and carry on the rest? How does that work for you.

    • @SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS
      @SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS  Год назад

      My tent stakes and trekking poles go in a checked bag because most airports don’t allow those on a plane. Everything else fits in the overhead. Without food, my pack rolls down fairly small

    Nerdy Ipad Mini/SSD tech question here (I also use an Ipad Mini, Lumafusion, and SSD). Does your Ipad just recognize your SSD in your Files app? My Ipad Mini will not recognize my Crucial X6 SSD when connected with USB C to USB C cable. Wondering if you had to reformat your SSD (to FAT or exFAT) or if the SSD you're using just worked. If SSD just worked, what brand you using? Thx amigo

    • @SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS
      @SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS  Год назад +1

      This is the problem with the iPad mini. At least the older version that I have. It is not compatible with any external hard drives from my understanding. That’s why I carried my IPad Pro in Scotland. The iPad Pro IS compatible and just shows up on your files app. I’m not carrying my iPad Pro this year for weight savings but I am a little paranoid about an sd card failing. I’m bringing my ssd’s and my laptop in a checked bag so I can at least back everything up before my flight back to the States

    • @WillowWalksTheAT
      @WillowWalksTheAT Год назад

      @@SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS Gotcha, and thx. I'm gonna try reformatting an SSD to FAT to see if that works on the Mini. My SSD works well on an Android Samsung A7 Lite (8.7) but the 4GB of RAM causes LF to run slow for editing so not ideal. My Mini does recognize a thumb drive so thinking a 1TB thumb drive might be a solution. Appreciate you sharing...couldn't find an answer online and figured if anyone would know it'd be you! Seems like not alot of people have this problem...maybe there aren't many that want to carry a tablet hiking and sit in their tent and manage media at the end of the day? I'll send you a comment on one of your platforms if I figure something out. Best of luck on the upcoming hike

    • @WillowWalksTheAT
      @WillowWalksTheAT Год назад

      @@SAVEDBYMOUNTAINS Just got a 1TB SSD (Crucial X6) to be recognized by my Ipad Mini (Gen 6 w/IOS 16). Had to reformat the SSD to ExFAT (using a laptop) and now it is recognized by the Mini...and my Android and Windows devices. Lumafusion on the Mini also recognizes the SSD when added to Linked Folders so can edit directly from the SSD and not bog down the Mini. Could be a (dorky) game changer for this stuff. If you try this and you lose all your footage, pls don't make a video dedicated to the guy that ruined your hike (ha)...I'm just a dude that hikes with his dog. Btw you met Willow briefly at AT TDs 2022...she wanted to play with the goat. Hope this crap helps

      Ziplock bags packing it in such a way that it’s not getting crushed in my pack. My drone will probably be in a couple ziplock bags and placed in the mesh pocket of my pack. Really haven’t figured that one out yet. The hard case I have for my drone is just too heavy and big to be carrying. Lenses are put in ziplocks and stuffed into a sock.
