Thank you for this beautiful video. I shoot real estate videos with XH2s and a 10-24 lens. If there is one person, yes, it focuses quickly, but when shooting an empty house, the focus often fails. 😚
Yeah with the empty house you gotta find something to lock the focus on. Bare walls are tough Lol. Thanks for watching!
Hi Pete. Thanks for your effort on this as I've been frustrated by some of the click-bait low-quality "reviews" some people have done with absolutely no info on settings, etc. Having owned an X-E1, X-T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-S10, and X-H1 I find the focusing capability miles ahead on the X-H2S I bought in July. I shoot mainly stills and even has success with some birds in-flight. Looking forward to travel this month to Italy with the X-S10 & X-H2S. I'm sure a X-H2 will be added to my kit also.
Thanks, Steven! I was frustrated with those reviews too. There's a lot of noise out there regarding the XH2s and I'm glad my review helped you cut through it. My only problem now is I WANT one haha! I'm invested in Canon too, but this is the first Fuji camera to me that feels on par with my R5 which is great. Thanks for watching!
@@PeteCocoPhoto Quick question. I have the RP and been looking at the R6 but since rumors is that 3rd party lens are not being made because of canon I have been wanting to dive into Fuji. So the question is how does the xh2s or xt4 compare to the R6? And a side question to that would be how does the RP compare to the xt4? (I love the photography side but when it comes to video I want to know if the xt4 at least is on par or better than the RP. It already has a advantage with the ibis.) Thank you!
@@ElevenAce I haven't tried the RP but I can tell you that the XH2s is on par with my R5 in terms of performance and af speed for stills. I was super impressed by it. On the video side, it definitely still lags in performance and features for af so I would keep that in mind if you are primarily shooting video. The XT4 however is not as good in performance in video/stills and I am currently waiting to give the XH2 a try. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps!
Nice video, Pete. I am looking forward to the XT5 launch now since I don't think I'd need the XH2S. BTW, just one random suggestion, can you place yourself a little bit closer to the center of the frame? Watching this video is like watching only the right half of the window 😛
Thanks Steven! Yes, I think the XT5 is going to be a home run, especially if the AF is similar to the XH2S. You know my off center framing is intentional - I thought it looked artsy haha 😆🤷♂️
As a xh1 and xt2 user I’m getting a huge upgrade no matter which version I get 😁
Yep! No way to go wrong in my opinion.
Good staff Pete...Keep it up!
Thanks, Jaloohan, will do!
I shoot with XT3s, video and photos (events, low budget ads etc...) I must say I almost never missed focus with stills. But for video there is a lot to be desired. I would give it a year are 2 for the price on this to drop. IMO the price is a little to steep for the improvements I need.
Hey Andrew yes the price is definitely too high. I think it makes sense to wait because of that and also for the firmware updates to iron out the bugs and improve the other features. Thanks for watching!
I actually don't think the price is too high at all. That was my first reaction though, saying wait a sec 2700 for an apsc camera. Then, I understood the full hybrid capacities of this product by Fuji and when it hit home I ended up thinking it was a real bargain. At this price point, no other camera is even close to delivering the kind of results the XH2S is capable of. I do understand that at first glance it may feel overpriced when it is imo actually the opposite.
I bought a Sony A7iv in august because my XT4 was so much work for solo content. Bought an XH2s and tested it for what I need and sold the A7iv. For what I'm doing it's as good as the A7iv. Not sure what the problem is with the sketchy "reviews" out there. Probably people with very little Fuji experience reviewing it for the clicks.
Very cool, Edward. I'm interested to see how the XH2 does in terms of AF compared tot the XH2s. I think people are still shell-shocked because of the XT4's lackluster AF but the new cameras are a huge improvement and hopefully will only get better with firmware updates.
What are your settings and lens for your H2S
@@Iamquiroga In AF C I set sensitivity to +2 and speed to -4. I'm using it with the 10-24mm WR, 16 f2 WR, 23 f2 WR and 35 f2 WR mostly. Doesn't hunt at all for solo content, stays glued to my eyes.
@@EdwardMartinsPhotography appreciate your help! I got the XH2S and the 23 F2 I’m hoping I don’t regret buying it since I need it for wedding videography and I was looking at the Sony A7IV
@@Iamquiroga Honestly, you can't go wrong with either camera. They do the same things just do them a little differently. The Fuji has 4K120, though. I really like the 23mm f2 it's one of my favorites.
Excellent review. I sold my X-T4 because of focusing issues when shooting stills. It would miss almost 20% of the time, (very soft but not back or front focusing), and that was in single servo, single point. My X-Pro2 (6 yrs old) on the other hand has probably never missed focus. Go figure. I'm very glad to hear someone show just how good the focusing is on the X-H2s as I am very curious about the 40MP X-H2 about to be released (announced). I don't shoot any video but obviously focusing is critical in still photography as well.
Thank you Bob! I appreciate the feedback. I'm curious about the XH2 and XT5 as well. Hopefully the af will be similar even though it's not a stacked sensor.
what lenses are you using for the video af portion??
Fuji 16-55 2.8
How is the focus compared to the Sony a1?
Sony A1 is definitely better AF. Fuji still isn't quite there yet with AF but much better than before.
@@PeteCocoPhoto thanks, i think also a lot better than a z9. Nikon got disappointing for me after the d300
Does the af works in slowmo ? Thanks for your video
Not sure if I understand but the af works in all the video modes. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Can you tap to focus while recording is on?
I'm not positive but I don't remember being able to do so. I had the camera on loan and don't quite remember at this point.
Thanks
Please include the firmware version installed.
It was Version 1.02
Great video. But the music sucks ;-)
Thanks, Frank! My wife said the same thing about the music, lol. I should have listened to her!
The music really distracts from what is being said. For a non-native speaker it is very hard to follow you.
Too bad, an interesting topic, maybe it's just my problem, but I don't like background music at all in videos on such factual topics!
@@ruhri0411 Wow thank you so much for letting me know. I will definitely change this going forward. I had no idea it was so distracting!
@@PeteCocoPhoto Your content is still great, I made an effort to follow it.
..."fuji hd quality"
You mean FULL HD quality? The f in FHD doesn't stand for fuji...
Yes I know what FHD is. That was a slip of the tongue haha. I realized what I said after I uploaded the vid. 🤷🏼♂️
