Hi everyone!
So I have decided to start a new series and do 3 videos of Complimentary Colours.
Video # 1 is the Yellow and Purple
Video # 2 will be Blue and Orange
Video # 3 will be Green and Red (or Pink) LOL
I am glad I scraped the first attempt (I have been doing a lot of that lately lol) because the second attempt turned out beautifully.

Don't be so hard on yourself ok, remember you have a very busy lifestyle with family, work etc. Don't burn yourself out. I love watching you as I'm learning so much, and extremely inspired to start art pouring once I purchase more products. I admire your work and your attention to detail. I look forward to your videos each night so much! Thank you so much for sharing your talents and don't give up ❤

Purple and yellow pansies are one of my favorite flowers....this reminds me of them!!! Beautiful
Kanella, you are are quickly becoming my favorite Dutch pour artist 👩🎨 You are a beast with the blow dryer!!! Don’t get discouraged, life is like that sometimes and it seems to be a universal theme the last few days. March on, beauty awaits🙏🏻🎨 🌬
Thanks for showing us a fail, talking thru what you think went wrong, and how to fix! Can't wait to see the other two in this series!
I loved both. I am so like you in that if my piece doesn’t talk to me in five minutes, I scrape too. I can tell by watching you, I blow more than you. It’s hard to stop with the hair dryer. It’s beautiful K! 👏👏👍🎨💕❤️🎨. Thanks for the hairdryer tip. One pass is key! Thanks for that 👍
This really turned out pretty! Normally mixing complimentary colors together will give you mud. Try putting a layer of white or black between them. Please, please don’t give up! You are one of my favorite RUclips artist!
Diane Broom, mine too!
I liked both of them, but you're th artist and you know what you see and what you like. Love all your videos and your art too.
Love the second pour though I liked the first one as well💗the tragedy over the weekend has saddened a lot of people not just in the US but all over the world☹️losing Kobe was a huge blow but losing 3 young lives that really never got a chance has ripped my heart to shreds💔my thoughts and prayers to all affected by this horrific accident
Turned out well! Its crazy how the first go, you did the same thing & somehow the two pieces ended so differently. Thanks for leaving that part in. 💜😁👍
I am so glad that you got to a good spot. Love the combo of colors. The lacing is wonderful and the shimmer is just yummy. Thank you for your video.
Congratulations Kanella! You've chosen a very difficult project as complementary colours will turn to mud if they are blended. Best of luck. Looking forward to the next two.
LSU fans will go crazy for this!!
Love how the black one dried. The finished result of the second pour is really nice, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say, and I loved both pieces (especially the paler one) from the first pour (and the pattersn/colours they made on the mat).
I liked them both but the second one looks just like purple Iris. Makes me think of spring.
Second round so much nicer - looks like the color of violets. Very pretty - looking forward to this series.
Can't wait to see the Orange and Blue! Those are my dad's favorite colors and I've been struggling to get them to play nice. Maybe it's the shades of orange and blue that I'm using. I was trying to get at least one of each color to be as close to Auburn Football team colors as possible.
It looks like Beautiful Bearded Iris's! Very lovely! 💕💖💕💖💕
The second time was a charm! I ALWAYS get mud with gold and purple. I have to use a light hand because can’t give it up!! Thank you for showing us the fails too!! That’s also an important learning tool!! ❤️😘
I love the colours of this pour... so regal... and the second pour was much better than the first as more dark yellow huie came through... lovely :)
So glad you’re happy with this one. Don’t want you to stop! 🌹
As a portrait artist, purple and yellow makes a nice brown for skin tones.
Yellow and purple is a favorite combo of mine. I am a bit concerned about the red and green. LOL I am looking forward to this series. More purple, less yellow?? Yay! I guessed right. It does look like irises! Well done even though it was a challenge.
Seems like we are all going through a rough patch!! I've scraped a few myself. I think it is a test of patience. I'm glad you don't give up so easily!! I love watching you for inspiration!!
Stunning Kanella! I love the colour combo... am feeling a little flat today and you've just inspired me to paint today! Thank you 😘
The first time around the yellows you used were an orange/yellow (warm) and the other was a green/yellow (cool) and the purples you used were a blue/purple (cool) and a red/purple (warm). Not all complimentary will go together...some make brown. Be careful which reds and greens you combine, too because they will make brown, too. The second piece you used all warm yellows and cool blues and it came out lovely.
I think you may be my art twin. Almost every time i watch your videos, we’re doing close to the same thing! I’m also in a rut right now. Trying to fight my way out. I’ve done the purple/ yellow combo & had success by making the yellow thicker so it won’t mix & turn brown. Give it try!
Worked out Great!
Usually Purple and Yellow make brown so your consistency
was spot on.
James Farrow
Awesome! Always liked purple and yellow together!
I was working with alcohol ink the other day and said out loud “what colour does yellow and purple make” my 6 year old yelled from the other room “brown!” Lol I find it’s best to check the colour wheel and use colours that will mix to make another nice colour rather than the complimentary colours that turn brown
Yep. Complimentary colors look good together, but when mixed make brown.
Beautiful!!!! Glad you swiped the first one and tried again. Thank you, Elaine
I liked the first one too. They are both beautiful. I know that you have an eye for what you want. Once again, you had a great result. Just beautiful! 🤩
Thanks for the flashback. Reminds me of iris flags my mom had in our back garden as a kid. Hope you had a great holiday
It's beautiful. I like that there isn't a huge amount of negative space. 😁 Sorry I've been MIA. I've been working on getting a quilt together and my mother's laptop bag. xxx 💗💗💗
It turned out so beautifully, it reminds me of a Dutch Iris.
Love it 💜💛💜💛💜💛 did my first diptych today an it turned up ok so I’m happy xx
❤️❤️❤️ the colors are fabulous! These remind me of irises,so fragile and delicate.
Great yellow and purple. Another Kanella amazing piece. Have a Great Day😊
Kanella, I do really love it! It's very Fallish looking and even has a sort of Pansy look too. Colors are lovely. Great job❤
Loving it ! And love the gold too !
I really did like the first pour before you scraped. They do, very much, look like irises
JUST BEAUTIFUL, LOVE COLOUR COMBINATIONS.
Wow that's gorgeous. Love the colors. Thanks for sharing. Someone needed to learn about the colors that didn't work
You make me cry! the first one that you scraped I loved both of them, I was shouting at the screen, please don't kill them - then you did. This last one that you are happy with is fantastic as usual. Please don't doubt yourself, you are so talented. I expect other people in UK like me so enjoy, and look forward to your videos. Hope you had it great holiday, yes, I'm a bright shade of green! 😏
The gold lacing is gorgeous! Didn't think I'd like this combination but I do!
Maybe after you do complimentary colors you can do tertiary combinations!
Red and green should be interesting..
Second time's a charm! Pretty result, Kanella, especially with the canvas on your left. I'm glad you didn't have to resign from painting! ;)
You love to live dangerously, don't you!?! Complementary colors are the hardest to use together.
No painting vacation ♡ I wonder what it would look like with the gold on the bottom. From our view the first one was cool especially left side. It always aggregates me when one side blows out so much more vibrant than others but they do it all the time. Lol. 2nd one was really beautiful.
Always love watching you.
Love it, colors are great
I love the second. The gold lacing over purple on left side is stunning. I like the way it all turned out. Yesterday was hit & miss for me painting wise. My large one is gorgeous. My 3 4”x12” triptych I’m not sure on. Metallics on black. Think I had too much paint.
I was shouting add the gold lol. I’m glad you did. I have a hard time NOT painting with my gold
Complimentary colors seem to be difficult with Dutch pours in my opinion. I’m excited to watch and see if you can make them work. I tend to put white or black between layers of colors that typically mud together. Love your work!
Kanella I tried this one today as I love these colors 💜💛 wish I can post it for you to see ...... only thing I didn’t have the right canvas size but it turned out ok I think 🤔
Love how the second one turned out, and the lacing it gorgeous!
Love seeing the different color combinations. My daughter and I tried our first pours a couple of days ago and had a few crappy ones, but a couple of not too bad. :) I'm looking forward to doing more!
The second try was also beautiful. Have a great day!
On the first one I like both separately,
The second time looks beautiful
Very pretty. I just love these colors. I've got to try this.
A quick observation makes it seems like 1) you need more base paint to help the colors flow. It also seems your paints are super thick for a Dutch pour. You’re getting some pretty parts, but your paint just doesn’t seem to be flowing like it should.
I’ve also struggled with my blow dryer being too hot. I replaced it with one that blows cold and have noticed a massive difference!
You’re super talented. Hope you can figure out what’s not working for you!
Love the purple, yellow and gold combo, it is beautiful!
I love the look of Dutch pours, I'm a beginner and I'm not having much luck i think maybe my paint is a bit thick, I'm going to keep trying though 😊 thanks for the inspiration x
Was wondering if you'd get brown, because when complimentary are mixed that's what happens. Working on smaller canvases is a challenge in its self, especially with a dutch pour. Wondering how the baby leaf blower would work? You made a beautiful painting! The irises that grew in my grandma's garden. 💜💛💜💛💜💛
Loved seeing the dried pieces. They are gorgeous! I’m so glad you did this color combination. I’ve been wanting to see them together. Looking forward to seeing other complimentary color pieces. Have a great week & give the kids & Juno a hug, Grandma from Iowa 🥰
So glad this turned out! I can’t imagine not having your post to watch. It’s really pretty.
I want the one you are doing purple and yellow are favorite colors the gold is a bonus!
if you are interested in purchasing this piece please email me at kanellaciraco@gmail.com
Colors in that painting make me think of Rainbow Fish from the childrens book.
Reminded me of the LA lakers (NBA Team) colors here in The US. Specially since #KobeBryant was just killed in helicopter accident along with his daughter. Thank you for this .
Beautiful love those colours
This turned out gorgeous. Most certainly irises 😍
Love how these colours together turned out, kooks great 😀👍❤️!!! Looking forward to the other two paintings in this series😀👏!!
IT LOOKS GREAT!! I WAS SCARED YOU WERE GOING TO SCRAPE IT AGAIN.
I really liked the first one too! Both are beautiful! The second has more Violet, is amazing! I'm triyng to have the same result with hairdryer.... congrats ❤😊🥂🍾
You did it! Cool so glad I asked❤! Horizontal (oops)is awesome! You are an amazing artist!
Whenever you mix complementary colors you pretty much get brown. I tried green and red the other day, even with knowing color theory for the most part. The green blew out nicely but then there was brown. The red just didn't blow out for me without mixing with the green. Sigh. I scraped it off. Been busy so the canvas is sitting there, waiting, beckoning me, daring me to try it again. Your purple and yellow turned out nicely since you were able to get all the colors showing. I'm looking forward to the next two... especially your green and red.
i am worried about the green and red - so i might do green and pink lol
@@KanellaCiracoArt Oh, no, no! You have to do the green and red! Lol. I have to see if it works for you because, so far, you seem to exhibit some sort of magic touch. Just so you know, I didn't try the green and red again on that canvas (I'm still feeling intimidated). I did something entirely different. Black, white and Pebeo red blue in a geometric kind of pour. Turning out pretty cool (it's still drying). If I knew how to insert a photo here, I'd show you. I see that your #2 of 3 is in my inbox. Gonna check that out in a few...
Turned out really pretty Kanella. Lovely job on this colour palette. You never give up and that's inspiring for us all.Love ya Hugs :)
Turned at gorgeous! Loving it.
TESTED!! PASSED!!! Turned out great!!❤😏
Love your work, beautiful
Loving the drip mess as well
Pretty! The colors are def iris colors. One thing I’ve noticed recently is that you blow the one side toward the end, but you are no longer blowing the second side out toward the other end as much. Hope you don’t mind me mentioning this. You are my favorite! I went through your Amazon link to buy a few supplies as I am now trying this art form. Really will take a lot of practice!
i dont mind at all
Gorgeous as always!
Beautiful paintings
That is stunning!
This is pretty, I also liked the first one to.
Encore une fois superbe 👏🏻
Absolute Beautiful!!!
Beautiful, love the colours together!
Stunning.Would be Great to see how you varnish
check out video #130
Looks lovely 👌
Kanella, when complementary colors mix, they turn a brown, gray, or green (a muddy) color. (Google "mix complementary colors.") When doing a layered cup of paint, you have to put a transition color between complementary colors so you don't get a muddy color. I don't think that would work with a Dutch pour because the blow dryer mixes the colors as it moves the paint across the canvas. I believe you did the best you could by choosing a purple that leans more toward the blue side and by mouth-blowing so that the paint mixes less. Sorry, I don't have any better advice to offer.
LOVE how that black one dried! Just as you said you weren’t feeling it I’m saying ooooo pretty! Lol. I think it’s your hair dryer... :(. But I like how it turned out. :). It does match. There is a strong purple band at the middle.
I've had a bad weekend of painting also, so don't feel bad.
love this one
Oh I love it..it's AWESOME..
Beautiful!
I scraped a 3 canvas piece 2x this week.... I am sorry you all are doing it too but I am thankful I am not alone in this rough patch....
Omgosh I loved them both! ❤❤❤
No it's very beautiful
Love it!!!
Puuuurty! 💛💜 I love the shimmer from the 24kt Gold...but I like anything with a shimmer or sparkle. If you threw metal flake and tiny zirconias in there....oh boy! This tomboy loves “bling.” 🤣 Is there anything comparable to the 24kt Gold in a silver? I have yet to hear anyone use anything in the silver family.
i am still looking for a good silver!
Kanella Ciraco Art Can’t wait for the day you find one!
