Totally agreed. 7-8 wins will be the norm with this type of effort on offense. This is going to be a waisted season for the talent we have in the skill positions on offense.
As a Michigan fan, valenti is touching on exactly what has frustrated Michigan fans for the past decade. Michigan recruits better players has better athletes and skill players across the field and they still lose because they haven’t had a QB since chad henne. Well no Michigan has solid qb depth so it’s gunna be interesting to see what happens when they meet in East Lansing this year
As a Spartan Alumnus, it pains me to admit this, but this is 100% accurate! I absolutely agree with Mike, and we've been headed in this direction offensively for quite some time now! Coach MD better take a long hard look at his offensive coaching staff!
You've got a compelling narrative there. You've gone out on a limb, and I appreciate that in a commentator. You made a pretty clear-cut prediction about the upcoming MSU season. Also about UM. So we'll see if you're simply a great BS artist with a gift of gab or the consummate football wise man you purport to be. I'm going to give you full credit either way. We'll see what happens.
I am a Buckeye fan and want to add that when Jim Bollman was at OSU under Jim Tressel, fans would consistently call for his firing. They even mocked his looks and called him a "walrus." He seemed to have better success at MSU at first. Now, however, Bollman may be a big part of the current problem. Tressel kept him due to loyalty, and Coach D was also part of that staff for years. Tress and Coach D have similar mindsets when it comes to NOT cleaning out the deadwood from the staff.
That is the biggest take from Saturday and thorn in Dantonio's side overall. He's a great coach but he has blown several games playing "not to lose"...Saturday was pure coaching...
Here is a question that many fans should agree on! Should the NCAA change that there will be no more take a knee to run the clock out? I think both teams should play right down to 0 seconds!
We looked bad on Saturday. After Utah State I thought it was just nerves and shaking off the rust. I thought we would’ve done better this week but no, we looked really bad.
I don’t think the hatred will be enough this year. O’korn would be 5th string on this year’s team and I don’t know if rain is forecasted in EL that Saturday. I also don’t think drevno will be coming back to call the plays. I think it’s a win for Michigan.
Mich St first win this season was luck, they just got lucky, this time was different , MIch St with a little luck will play 500 football this season, heck they shouldn't even be rated in the top 25.
When OSU plays MSU and Michigan, they’re gonna feast. Difference is Michigan can play with a bad o line and Shea is a potential first rounder. Also Michigan has the defense to keep them in it. State needs to lean more on Scott and that freshman who’s name I can’t think of and not put it on lewerke’s arm. They’ll lose quite a few games if they put the game on him throwing it.
MSU should have won the game period! the were in the the redzone enough to put min. 14 points on top of what the final score was! 2 times the center and guards are getting knocked down so they fall onto the QB and the other was a wide open TE that was a little to high for him to catch. Defense was descent besides the TD drive that took 2 plays. Arizona State is no joke but should have won it!
I'll never understand why the 2018 & 2019 Michigan State teams decided to be so dirt. All they needed to do was hit 20 points, and they would have challenged for the B1G. Why they would choose a strategy of trying to win every game 10-7 in modern college football is anybody's guess. I'll never forget Week 13 2018 where I made big $ of their home game vs Rutgers. Michigan State was favored by 21. I made a facebook video picking RU and the points stating MSU wouldn't even get to 21 points let alone cover. They won 17-14 ... against RUTGERS !!!
Mike I think you are making to big a hot take. At ASU is one of the toughest places to play in the nation. The big ten is 0-10 there for a reason. MSU is definitely better than a 7 win team this season you will see.
Noah Conley It’s a lil early to be saying that lol, he’s only 2 games in. But I do think he’s a good coach and ASU will do well under his tenure. This season though I believe they are a 6-7 win football team max, maybe 8 wins if they get a favorable bowl game... Bottom line is MSU should’ve won considering the talent that they supposedly have, but they laid an egg. I’m predicting a disappointing 7 win season for the Spartans. Sure hope I’m wrong.
@@strikezone1879 Steve, you're being a self-loathing Sparty like me this week, eh? I went to the game this weekend: it was 107 at kick without direct sun. Luke Campbell's dad told me the practice field in EL was 130 degrees Tuesday and half the O- Line, including Luke (who was a game time decision), were down with cramps all week... so the kids had to be psyched out a bit going into Tempe. I agree with your concerns and dont see us winning East, but I think the 0-13 B1G visiting record there also has more to do with the conditions, which were insane, than us being a complete paper tiger. I still need to watch it on video and it doesn't excuse the coaching, but I think some kids' bodies, like Higby, Bachie, and even Layne toward the end were giving out. For context, it was much, much hotter than 2011 worlds in Florida with Repo, even with us not having subs. This is C Mo, btw. Hope all is well, bud
Just curious. What are Mr. Valenti's credentials. Top player or coach at some time? Not familiar with him but he's somewhat CRITICAL? Someone let me know but, jeez, he's got an awful lot to say.
MSU= Michigan Slow university uhh my guys they umm run the ball or something and uhhh throw it to uhhh a guy and uhhhh at the end free cheese wasn't enough to make kick uhhhhhh yea or Something
Hell yeah, picture Lewerke at Alabama, Georgia, Wisconsin, Penn State, he'd be a Heisman candidate. He's Playing with one of the bottom 3 offensive lines in the big 10
Glad that MSU lost, your fan base talked so much trash before the game. You guys talked so much about Michigan losing to ND you should have been looking at your own team.
drae408 I don’t think you should generalize a whole fan base. I’m a MSU student and still root for U of M just as long as there not playing MSU. My grandpa went there and I have tons of family that went there.
Not me. I was almost positive we would lose this game. They have the same garbage scheme they've been running on both sides of the ball for years. It's been embarassing the last few seasons. It hasn't even felt good to win because it's ALWAYS by the skin of their teeth. No matter if their playing UM or friggin Utah State.
20 16 2 things? Pffft watta joke. Lebron left your lame asses for a reason. Ohio is the most uneventful place I have ever been to. Michigan has so much more to offer besides sports, our state makes yours look like a landfill in comparison.
I feel like its De Ja Vue watching this now and what happened a year ago. Nothing has changed
When did 97.1 upgrade the studio? Lol
I think they are downtown for Lions game tonight
Dying on the, Wisconsin “lineup & eat pizza”, line 😂⚰️
Love ya Mike. Keep up with what you're doing !!!

Our offensive line is still going to hold them back this year though.
As a UM fan, Mike’s takes are right on, even about UM.
"How many times are we going to run to establish the run?"
Mike is damn good. He should come to Boston
He’s too NCAA focused for Boston. Boston, NYC, LA, Chicago, etc would have to pay him far far more to get him to leave.
As a Spartan Alumnus, it pains me to admit this, but this is 100% accurate! I absolutely agree with Mike, and we've been headed in this direction offensively for quite some time now! Coach MD better take a long hard look at his offensive coaching staff!
You just described the Notre Dame football program. I feel like it'sto Saban-Urban-Swiney and then everyone else anymore.
I'm waiting for mike to bring out the scotch and Cuban cigar
Love his commentary
This season is starting to feel allot like the 3-9 season!
I like that, “you’re gonna eat pizza whether you want the pizza or not”
I agree on narduzzi ....but let's not forget coach Treadwell's offense!? He's back and we SHOULD give him the riegns back to the offense!!

Love the studio, but the camera angle sucks... it looks like Mike is staring cross-eyed at the microphone

Public Pursuit bhad to give you a thumb down only cause your a Michigan fan but ya here I'm with Mike....n uni guess ! Lol

I couldn't agree with u more. I'm go blue, but I listen to u alot.
Last week he thought UM was Rosie O'Donnell..... this week he thinks they're Jessica Chastain..
They don't play to win They play to NOT lose
That is the biggest take from Saturday and thorn in Dantonio's side overall. He's a great coach but he has blown several games playing "not to lose"...Saturday was pure coaching...
They need to run the score up and don't look back they play it way too safe need to be aggressive on offense
WE NEED PAT NARDUZZI!!!!
I wish he would come back...the records not so great at Pitt so far anyway...
James Leffel we never had ASU. They were dominating that entire game. We’re lucky they only won by 3
Here is a question that many fans should agree on! Should the NCAA change that there will be no more take a knee to run the clock out? I think both teams should play right down to 0 seconds!
We looked bad on Saturday. After Utah State I thought it was just nerves and shaking off the rust. I thought we would’ve done better this week but no, we looked really bad.
wilsonr 19 yeah, Lewerke and our wide receivers bailed us out so many times.
The worst part about the game is that MSU was the better team and they pissed it away failed red zone appearance after failed red zone appearance.
Can't blame them. ASU practices daily in 110 degree heat. MSU from the cold Midwest trains in 70s and 80s. Try it yourself. It's quite an adjustment.
Can't wait for Lions rant

Breaking news, Mikey throws in the MSU towel games #2...LOL
Brian Lewerke an NFL Qb 🤔 5/25? The pizza guy🤣🤣🤣🤣
2 years ago 3-9 u said MSU would lose 100-0 against Michigan that didn’t happen.
Where is this??
Caleb Olszewski MusicTown Detroit in Downtown Detroit. It’s off Woodward Ave.
Mike looks like he has a rack of guns behind him. Should we be more concerned about him than usual....

If state continues to play like they did with ASU! They will lose to Northwestern, Penn State ,Michigan, Ohio State , and maybe even Indiana!
Or Maryland!

this opinion also can apply to MSU basketball. Stubborn coaches bogging their talent down to subpar competition.
yeah Warner only puts on the gas when want's to!
If they come out and have a close game with Central Michigan! Get ready for a horrible season!
Dantonio can't just rely on the defense every game
Michigan & MSU are both in the same boat. Stubborn head coaches, no oline, and lackluster offensive play calling.
I agree this time Mike! Arizona State sucks!
You are right about that!
Ken Machek Apparently, MSU sucks even more!
It's not fun playing on the road under the lights...

yea mike is passionate and exaggerates a little....buuuuuut he is not wrong
ASU is a 6 or 7 win team at best, and this is a bad loss for MSU. You will see.
Steve Toporek Herm Edwards has turned around the program in my opinion. I think they will surprise people this year.

Rich Sanfillipo he is right though
put Higby at LT until Chewens comes back
Michigan high quality assistant coaches? lol yeah they are high quality, but can't beat a ranked team!
Warner must go.....,NOW!

He is the best QB in the B1G. He’s a minimum a late round 1st round pick.
No , maybe CFL or XFL
