hi Ms. Jensen - I was actually in school studying programming in 1980 and was using a lot of the tech you see in UFO - the large tape reels and paper print outs from the old style main frame computers were not really designed for real time interaction that a CRT screen enables - programs were a box of perforated cardboard cards that were read in once and you got the paper print out of the result - there was zero real time interaction with main-frame style computers such as we have now with our PCs and Macs - 🛸👽✨

"Gerry Anderson commented that Alec Freeman seemed to have a fascination for women’s bottoms, but in reality, Anderson himself was the one who directed the cameramen to focus on various ‘behind’ shots of the tightly clad female operatives."
I've seen a B/W photo of Gerry directing the camera for the Ayshea opening shot - he rode in a car camera set up right beside the camera man - I'd say Gerry was the director of photography and director of the shot itself of course - extremely probable that it was Gerry's idea

I am extremely doubtful UFO will ever get remade. It is a minefield of risks in regards to political correctness etc. No large studio would touch it. An Orville like parody might work but investors would be too averse to risking money on it. The real tragedy is that only one season got made and we are left with only 26 episodes and no real end to the story. CGI web series one day maybe.
The UFO alien pilot heard about the Earth babes working on Moonbase and stole a craft with the intention of meeting them even if it meant a crash-landing! 😄🛸
The interesting thing about this show (to me) is that you can see where Doppleganger ( aka Journey to the far side of the Sun) got some of its ideas from as well as early designs for Space 1999. I bought the boxed set of this show and sadly have to say that towards the end, I was really bored as their weren't enough fresh ideas to keep this show going. Space 1999's best episode imho, is the very last ep of season 2 in comparison.
Gerry Anderson produced Doppelganger before UFO. The SHADO interceptor cars are one of the props that got reused from the film. Space:1999 was developed out of an aborted attempt to revive the UFO series in 1975. The sets built for an expanded UFO moon base were used in an entirely new series and story that became Space:1999.
@@alexanderpowell1528 - Back in the day a film for theatres would be produced to a much higher standard than a weekly TV series. Bigger budget more time for re-shoots special effects etc. A 2 hour film might get say 6 months lets say for production while a one hour TV show may have only a one week production schedule. No Netflix or HBO quality TV series in 1970 of course. Most films at that time will always look more polished than any television series.
You can definitely see in the Moon skimmer the beginnings of the Space 1999 Eagle. Thanks very much TheDavecroft. Just checked it out and Ms. Drake is the best thing in the film of course. I did find the musical score extremely annoying though.
Gotta love the uniforms, the ladies were issued matching purple wigs and short skirts...yum.
Influence on Manga comics...
Actually, the wigs were anti-static to not interfere with sensitive computer components. That was the original idea, but then why don't the men in the command module have to wear headgear as well?
1 show An every FM was a 10 + they where all Beautiful. The Moon maddens where all Awesome.
@@Laceykat66 the Original Star Trek had the same idea. At least the Short Skirt part.
At one PT Lt. Ellis goes to Stracker HQ. Where she's seen as a very Pretty Brunette.
That opening shot though....😘
When Sylvia Anderson had produced the Ufo serie’s,she had designed the catsuit’s(the pattern’s)and the wig’s.And,she thought that the wig’s were fun!She wore a purple wig while she had produced the Ufo 🛸 show, too!A little bit of movie 🎥 history, here!
Love the ticker tape that outputs from the computer. Didn't CRT screens exist back then?
First time watching and noticed it wasn't the ufo sightings that the cameras were focused on!
Gabrielle Drake so beautiful thanks so much
Wow, I've completely forgot about this show. I loved it.
i loved lieuternant Ellis and loved Gabrielle Drake .
Lt Ellis..the ephytome of beauty and class...a walking dream ..if may i say so....
you mean epitome....
LOOK AT DEM OUTFITS!
This woman got some big ones, she's going out TO MEET trouble, a UFO of all things! I want Gabrielle Drake on my TEAM! Even today this show is STILL futuristic!
Parked perhaps a bit too close to the estimated crash site - at least by today's safety standards.
Nice Combination on the Thumbnail Cat-like Green eyes with Purple hair Beautiful!
It was gorgeous stuff on the old colour TV tubes
0:05 - Foil wrapped Moon Booty !
totalmikie Down south called “Moon Pies”. Those were Beautiful women and didn’t pretend to be anything else
The women in U.F.O. certainly made the earth move for us....
Still looks great
That's an amazing explosion in an area without any oxygen to burn.
"The interplay of G forces" - love it.
Gaby Drake is such a babe. Good personality. Great figure.
Gabrielle's like "I cannot believe I was doing Checkhov on stage last month....now this".
I am sure Ms. Drake enjoyed herself in the part sir. Looks like a fun job actually. Always time for more Chekhov.
I'm quite sure she did! Actually it appears she did The Cherry Orchard closer to 1979 or so! I was so young watching this in reruns in the 70s in USA I barely recall her, but I loved what I saw of the show. I recall wanting to buy the Interceptor diecast model, but later got a Space: 1999 one instead, which I still own the Dinky Toys Eagle Transporter ship.
Can't imagine any young actress in the UK in say 1969 not enjoying playing the part, wigs cat suit and all. I never tire of this great old show. Best regards FandersonUfo.
Gabrielle drake
Would be great to see this show made again. The trick would be to use modern tech mixed with old 60s ideas and visuals. The purple hair is a must and somebody lighting up a cig would be nice to see,but the ufo/space effects could use updating.
Absolutely concur.
Maybe more like vaping nowadays.
Or the orgasm pills / Orgasm torture organ in Barbarella?
i used to love S I D space intruder detector
One of my old gf's had a dog named Sid......he always knew when things were about to happen................hmmmmm
I'd love to see this series be rebooted and get more than one series.
Ok... Another short video of Lt Ellis... My first wet dream.... 👍👍
I saw three things that were accurately depicted for the future: 1) Purple hair, 2) E-cigarettes, 3) Power Rangers!
I was and am still a big fan. Gabby has pretty much the perfect face for me.
Always looked forward to seeing Gorgeous Gabrielle each week!
While being absolutely stunning in that svelte sexy ‘moon suit’, also having such a very perceptive and intelligent character.
That was such a magnetically attractive deadly combination.
A very polished and complete performance of an interesting character by Ms. Drake and usually over looked because of her obvious attractiveness. A tough intelligent professional she portrays very well and of course as a bonus she also happens to be sexy as hell. Best regards Fanderson
I'd like to launch something at Lt silver knickers
Great to see flames from explosions and able to hear the sound of space craft when there's no air or oxygen to support either.
..... and all the great sound effects in space in ALL the STAR WARS movies !!! I wonder how good they would be without any sound in the theatre ????
@@tommytillman Be dead silence. Bit like a Lazer guided J DAM missile sent one's way from somewhere, wouldn't know until it happened.
Shut the fuck up and look at the women.
A space ship using chemical fuel must carry both of the reactants needed to make it burn. If both are released near each other, they can burn.
@@jameskuyper Finally, someone who understands chemistry.
One of the most beautiful creature in the universe!
the hair, the helmet.........WHAT A GREAT LOOK! (luv these Frienderson, all of em) jolly good watching. hope all is well for you and yours btw. Many blessings your way i send..Toodlepip
I would have thought you would have seen these silly little things a while back. Do you like the way I deal with her here? I like how competent she is. Amongst other things of course.
That is what they are for. Little vids to watch over. So much junk I can watch a million times. I try not demean these girls at all. The way they handle themselves is most impressive. It helps of course they are rather attractive - but that's show biz and is always in the formula for sci fi. Hope you've been well. A veteran of the show dropped by and we exchanged many remarks. He was very kind with his memories and patient with my questions. Thanks for passing by. Big smile on my face whenever I'm typing for sarah.
WOW!!!! i sure that had to be very plesant for you.. That is awesome for you aswell as them for sharing.. BIG UPS. and ty for the kind words friend, be well and safe you. Toodlepip
McHale's Navy omg - I think they got Borgnine in drag in one show or maybe I dreamt it. It would be priceless if it actually was done. Be well sweetheart.
lol havent seen that one yet, just looked it up and well yea Grubber has em all dress up i guess. That should be classic LOL.
3:29 - Swisher Sweets in space!!
Amazing how that spinning effect on the ufo's looks like the real thing!
OMG! You know what the real thing looks like?
I think I got a Moon Stiffy.
The commander vaping was very prophetic! As a young boy my fantasies were being held captive by scantily clad Amazon women on an uncharted island, who would have their way with me, but these female astronauts will do just fine.
marooned on moonbase with those girls would not be tedious - 🛸👽✨
He wasn't vaping.
That was a cigar.
This video _started_ with a picture of the *full moon.* 👽
That is one way to describe the editor's choice.
I remember this black and white TV series!.
Smoking female, love Sylvia Anderson for her liberal attitude towards women of all ethnicities. CAMERON.
Esta serie la veía cuando era pequeño. Pero en España,en castellano.
Wow, this show had really hot women wearing clothing and makeup that really highlighted their assets! 👍❤️😊
An orbiting AI spy satellite with a British accent - I guess that's just a cut above a terminator robot from the future with an Austrian accent.
Wonderfulll... I love!
Way cool
I use that expression myself quite often - not just about Lt Ellis but generally
I simply love space age stuff, outfits and pin-ups
😍👍
This is what it would have looked like if nasa tried to fake the moon landings lol. And this is almost 10 years later.
Interceptor immediate launch wow LT Ellis🤤
She can walk on my moon anytime!
“Beedy beedy beedy ... What a body Buck” 😊
I had such a huge crush on Lt Ellis.
I have got the whole collection of
Ed Bishop George Sewell
and Gabriel Drake in
UFO
I am dedicating this complete
collection of the TV series
called UFO to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris Marie and Hester Brand from Billyxxx
FandersonUfo Can’t say I blame him! 😂 (Oops, can I actually say that these days? Lol)
Love the ladies. No neck tattoos, lip fillers or facial piercings.
I used to watch it when i was a young kid i would run behind the setee when i heard the u.f.o. noise😱😱😱😱
If you'd like to see that "lunar bus" move in a decidedly different...and jarring...fashion, then view two episodes of (the original) Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons series, "Lunarville 7" and "Crater 101".
Quite the explosion for a moon with no oxygen
Where did SHADO have the cameras sited to monitor the Moon? Was it SID?
SID is the satellite that orbits the Earth.
perhaps the reason the UFO crashed was because of the alien's blurry vision
Colonel Virginia Lake, played by Wanda Ventham, is Benedict Cumberbatch's mother.
excuse me kenny my man , are you takin the piss or what? only jokin
K .thats a very consice
all encompassing piece of scuttlebutt you have emparted . but KMAN
knowledge is POWER and FEAR is the MINDKILLER⚘️
Have to agree with you on Gabrielle Drake. She was stunningly beautiful. Interest that UFO showed lady officers even if they were 🍭eye candy primarily.
Lt. Ellis is a badass!
Thanks! Just to let you know, I asked Gerry Anderson's son during a web chat this morning if there were plans for a movie or new TV series of UFO. He said no.
Very cool. How could they fight UFOs with such a obsolete technology… printing a card with the coordinates… Lol. But I loved that TV series.
@@FandersonUfo FandersonUfo Oh okay. That's interesting. Doppleganger looks a lot slicker than UFO to me.
And it's also obvious that the moon skimmer was at least inspired in part by the Moon shuttle from 2001 A Space Odyssey. I think the model-maker and mechanical designer admitted that in at least one interview. Derek Meddings was his name IIRC.
