I like your pvc pipe knitting noughty , I think that is how it is spelled, since 1990 and the work accident I reily on spell ckeck, but it is nice to learn a new hobby every so often, as I just found a spinning wheel in a thrift store for 45$ now to make it work lol or me, it is a Le Clerc E-352 that is out of production since 1968 as I was told by the company that bought them out, so we shall see what may come of this wheel.

That is a FANTASTIC deal on your spinning wheal Jonny! There are people who make replacement pieces for old wheels. Message me if you need to find one. One of my fb friend's husband actually refurbishes old wheels

I have a question that I hope you can help with! I've got a prelude too and I've already worn through the twine brake band AND the peaches and cream cotton yarn I used to replace it with. Is my tension way too tight?? Or is that normal? Thank you!

Hey great video you are using the bobbin storage correct it is the built in lazy kate

One comment you need to move the mother of all so your drive band is more centralized on the wheel

Hoping since December you've figured out the flywheel is actually the flyer. And the metal rod thingies you are storing your bobbins on is actually a lazy Kate. 😊 My Firefly has the separate Kate that attaches to the back of the head. I hate it. My singles creep forward and the hooks grab it on the way by and tie up around my flyer. A cheap easy lazy Kate...cardboard box and a dowel rod that will fit through the bobbin eye. Poke a hole all the way through the box and through the bobbin then out the other side of the box. The bobbin will spin freely. Also, I just found out the hooks on one side are for clockwise spinning and the other side is for anticlockwise plying. Thanks for the video. I learned about the nonskid pads.

I did figure out the lazy kate thing...but only because I bought a separate lazy kate for my jumbo bobbins. Thanks for you message! You prove my point. Fiber artists ARE the most helpful people. Happy spinning

Well I understand the alone. I'm learning everything from RUclips. I have 2 special needs kiddos so I can't run to the guilds either. I try to help if I can but I'm still a beginner myself. I'm doing the trial and error thing. I'm trying to learn to process raw fiber without felting it. LOL! Just bought Ashley Martineau's book on Spinning & Dyeing. If you haven't read it yet it may be a good resource for you. And Mary Egbert from Camaj Fibers rocks too. I love The Spinning Box!

Ah yes, Mary is a pretty good friend. We instant message each other all the time. My son has some special needs. He's doing fantastic using essential oils. So glad you decided to pick up spinning. It's extremely relaxing

Christi Dea it really is. As a matter of fact I'm buying more wheels as I can because 2 of my 3 autism babies want to learn to spin too. I sent the oldest a drop spindle to start on. Trying to get her a wheel for Xmas. Glad your son shows improvement with natural healing. Unfortunately I have to be really careful with essential oils as the family all has nasty allergies and migraines. :(

That's a bummer. I've never had migraines, by my in-laws get really horrible ones. Sounds absolutely awful. I love to hear about kids spinning. Such an amazing skill and such a great, therapeutic activity. I wish it was taught in school.
