This is about "Walpurgisnacht" which is "Saint Walpurga's Night", named for the saint who tried to destroy this alleged night of witchery during the "last stand of the Old Way" (when Karolus - Charlemagne - went to war with the continental Saxon "heathens" in Northern Germany and in a connected reaction the Scandinavian pagans started their raids on and subsequent invasions of the British Isles) in the 800s. Kind of am usingly it's now firmly associated with witchcraft and *not* the saint it's been named after for the past ~1200 years. If this is unfamiliar to you (becauser it'as a very local German tradition) it's the far more widely known *May Eve* celebration, one of the prime festivals of Old European paganism's many variations. Ironically this celebration lives on in Europe (the maypole e.g. is part of it, that's why it's in the video) in many variations and it has always carried this magic connotation and for the last ~150 years it also has regained many of it's openly sexual and pagan connotations. I'd thought I'd also give you an approximate translation In den Abendhimmel steigen In the evening sky are climbing Heute Nacht die Zauberweisen Tonight those magic spells Wildes Volk und Liliths Art Wild Folk and Lilith's Kind (meaning witches) Lauernd Winde heimlich fahrt Travel secretly on lurking winds Lasst uns zu den Feuern streifen Let us roam towards those fires Raunend nach den Sternen greifen Whisperingly reaching for the stars Gutes und auch böses Wort Good as well as vile tale Tragen wir heut' fort und fort Today we'll carry forth and forth Pre chorus: In den Weiden werden unsere Träume klingen In the willows our dreams will resound Und die Winde werden unsre Lieder singen And the winds will sing our songs Lasst uns mit den Funken übers Feuer springen Let us skip across the fire with the sparks In der Walpurgisnacht! In Walpurga's Night Chorus Hört die Geigen, hört die Geigen Hear the violins, hear the violins (Hey yo) Die Feuer sind entfacht! The fires are alight! In den Abendhimmel steigen In the evening sky are climbing
Heute Nacht die Zauberweisen Tonight those magic spells
Wildes Volk und Liliths Art Wild Folk and Lilith's Kind (meaning witches)
Lauernd Winde heimlich fahrt Travel secretly on lurking winds
Lasst uns zu den Feuern streifen Let us roam towards those fires
Raunend nach den Sternen greifen Whisperingly reaching for the stars
Gutes und auch böses Wort Good as well as vile tale
Tragen wir heut' fort und fort Today we'll carry forth and forth
Pre chorus:
In den Weiden werden unsere Träume klingen In the willows our dreams will resound
Und die Winde werden unsre Lieder singen And the winds will sing our songs
Lasst uns mit den Funken übers Feuer springen Let us skip across the fire with the sparks
In der Walpurgisnacht! In Walpurga's Night
Chorus
Hört die Geigen, hört die Geigen Hear the violins, hear the violins
(Hey yo)
Die Feuer sind entfacht! The fires are alight!
(Hey yo)
Folgt dem Reigen, folgt dem Reigen Follow the dance, follow the dance
In der Walpurgisnacht In Walpurga's Night
Ungestüm im Spiel der Geigen Impertuopus to the violin`s play
Dreht sich unser nächtlich' Reigen Revolves our nightly dance
Und wir treten wild und frei And we enter wild and free
Diesem alten Zauber bei Into this elder Magick
Einmal nur im großen Kreise Once only in the greagt circle
Tanzen wir auf jene Weise We dance in this kind
Bis das erste Morgenlicht Until the first morning's light
Unser Traumgewebe bricht Breaks our dream's weave
Pre chorus repeat
In den Weiden werden unsere Träume klingen
Und die Winde werden unsre Lieder singen
Lasst uns mit den Funken übers Feuer springen
In der Walpurgisnacht!
Chorus repeat twice
Hört die Geigen, hört die Geigen
(Hey yo)
Die Feuer sind entfacht!
(Hey yo)
Folgt dem Reigen, folgt dem Reigen
In der Walpurgisnacht
Hört die Geigen, hört die Geigen
(Hey yo)
Die Feuer sind entfacht!
(Hey yo)
Folgt dem Reigen, folgt dem Reigen
In der Walpurgisnacht
Best regards
