You get it, to me this was the breakdown before the breakthrough season, perfect set up for next season.

Thank you! People keep dragging this season, but there were some really beautiful moments in it, especially in this last episode. I just wish two things had happened: 1. We got to see Richie RSVP for his ex-wife's wedding and add a plus one (the woman from Chef Terry's restaurant) 2. We saw Syd finally sign the contract--but it ends up being for the other restaurant.

Those would have been great additions. Makes a lot of sense

One detail I think you missed about that first scene was how after the chef walks away Carm just disregards the knowledge the chef dropped on him and just rips the wishbone out

I didn't catch that either! Now I have to rewatch.

The party at Syd’s apartment is almost exactly a story from Unreasonable Hospitality. So many Easter eggs.

The chef at the beginning is Thomas Keller, widely regarded as the quintessential celeb chef. He's mellowed hugely in later life, but Chef David (Joel McHale's character) is put together from a lot of TK anecdotes in his younger days. The whispering disparaging things in his chefs' ears is directly cribbed from stories about Keller. Just for context.

You are just making shit up. Thomas Keller was always a soft spoken, patient teacher dating back to when I was at the Laundry in the 90s.
There are endless Chef's that could have inspired McHale's character (Charlie Trotter, Marco Pierre White, Gordon Ramsey just to name a few). Keller was always known for distaining the loud, abusive french bridgade kitchens in favour of a very calm, quiet 'backstage'.

@@dannyboyNS752 -- Thank you for this. So many people throw out garbage information to make themselves look knowledgeable about things they know absolutely nothing about and, in the process, disparage those who absolutely do not deserve to have their reputation sullied by ignoramuses.

The bear is a really good show if you've never watched a show before

Gasp. Any recommendations for better ones? The Bear balances thematics, emotions, and novel direction better than any I've seen. Others are bloated by comparison.

Going for the hot take, eh? Garbage is often hot while decaying and letting off toxic fumes.
