One thing I have always appreciated about this game. At the start, Niko's English is very disjointed, he's saying the right things but it's not exactly flowing correctly. But by the end of the game, the only thing to hint that English isn't his first language is the accent. Such a subtle, arguably unnecessary attention to detail (that might have been touched on in the video not watched it all through yet) that I can't help but adore
Yes, such keen eye for detail, yet he speaks his native language as if he only ever took 2 Duolingo lessons during the boat ride, instead of coming fresh from Serbia. Unfortunately this is what took me out of the immersion constantly. Was really baffled they could not find 2 voice actors that speak english and serbian, but still appreciate the effort by the actors, as this was one of the first times the balkan people heard their language spoken in a AAA video game.
To be fair, that's only really the case during the early missions. By like the 4th or 5th mission Niko stops questioning everything and even speaks English perfectly fine. He only starts reverting to his home language when extremely emotional (mainly when he's angry) or taking a jab at Roman (who sarcastically acknowledges and understands what he says).
@@xforby8185 You'd need 4 VAs to also cover Florian and Darko, and the Russians are bad too(Dimitri's VA is actually Czech iirc). Florian is the one that annoyed me the most, he can't even pronounce the r right, it's totally American. At least Niko is doing some sort of Slav-esque accent even if it isn't right.
True, there is some change. But like other commentors said, they all pretty much suck at talking. Even those Russians in San Andreas were cringe and stereotipical. In here, they just sound more professional.
@@JMR_2028not true, niko wouldn't kill whoever, a guy wanted to pay niko to kill his wife just because he suspected she was cheating on him and niko refused. It's a guy you can meet as a random event in the game. The game also gives you the choice on who to kill between playboy x and dwayne or francis and derrick mcreary, since Niko worked for all those men and we as the player can decide towards who we feel more loyal to.
Well I mean when you have the Russian mob constantly on your heels you’d probably get side tracked too. That and I feel like Niko went about it actually pretty well for a foreigner who just arrived to one of the most dangerous cities in America with no real allies except a cousin who runs a shitty cab service. He moved up the ranks of the criminal underworld till he could establish contact with someone with the right connections to find just about anybody in the city.
It's established that Niko hasn't used the Internet before and is not fond of modern technology, so what would he do? Search for "Florian Cravic" in a phone book? Which he probably did off-screen
A guy during a taxi mission for roman asks niko "how's the hunting so far?" when niko tells him he is looking for someone and Niko replies "haven't even started yet, I'm getting settled in and had to help Roman with his debts with longsharks"
On an unrelated note, wasn't Nico like 13-14 when he was recruited as a soldier into the war.. He was betrayed when he was around 18-20.. That age adds a lot of context for why he just wants to go bowling with his cousin.. His voice just makes him sound older..
I believe Niko is 30 at the time of GTA IV, which means he was born in 1978. A bit too young for the wars of Serbian aggression against the Bosnians and Croats, but I do believe that he was conscripted for the Kosovar war instead, as that makes him around 20 when the war started, and in ripe age to have his youth thrown away by politicians who want more power.
Sinning Niko not going through customs is hardly valid when he's an illegal immigrant on a ship that's not supposed to be carrying immigrants and all that.
Disappointing to see you played the game broken with replacement radio and everything. All you had to do was downgrade the damn radio and install FusionFix, Dartigan.
Don't do my boy Dwayne like that. My man was a kingpin in liberty city. He went down for coke possession. The place where playboy x is living is Dwayne,s house. He just let playboy life there.
If I remember correctly, after Niko starts working with Pegorino, you can optionally call Roman. In that phone call, Niko tells Roman he keeps doing work for the mafia hoping that they will find Darko for him. Hence, you don't see him actively find Darko himself, he's just one guy afterall. It's just that the deed is done via another mafia boss Gravelli in the end.
Darko isn't even in america unlike florian, Niko's only hope to find him was find someone powerful enough in liberty city to be able to track darko down for him, and niko knew that, if this guy actually played the game more than once and had payed attention to the story, he would have known this too.
Just decided to search for Dartigan's channel to see what he was up to and got graced with this. Always wanted him to do some GTA games, this is awesome!!
It's different but it's fun. I don't think either 4 or 5's driving are inherently better or worse, they're different games with radically different road/map design where the gameplay of driving is very inherently different. 4 roads are thin, there aren't really any wide open spaces, and traffic is packed, with the gameplay being essentially about avoiding obstacles, while in 5 roads are very spacious and traffic tends to be downplayed, so the focus is moreso on routing efficiently.
@@Kingdom850 The game does not act like he could be redeemed. Every single mission makes him more and more irredeemable. Even Niko himself knows that he is stuck in an endless loop of violence. The game never tries to sugarcoat it. He witnessed war crimes against his people, he most likely even committed some, and he is permanently scarred by the war.
Imo, a cute easter egg of Niko's future is seen in GTA Online on the character creation. You can create the offspring of Niko when selecting who the "parents" are to base their physical traits.
You spent 3:33 minutes to give the first sin when you could have just summarized all that talking with "Niko gets depicted as a fundamentally good person with principles, just broken and who can't find a way out of his criminal life, the problem with this is that we, as the player, can literally make him kill tons of innocent people and do genocides while playing as him which goes against his whole characterization"
I don't think I've ever seen a better protagonist than Nico in a GTA game, the shock between story and gameplay is definitely a thing that underscores it but I still love this vibe of his. He knows he's doing horrible things and he genuinely hates it, but he keeps falling back into the cycle of criminal violence out of habit because that's just who he is, and ultimately that makes him just so much more compelling in my eyes. After all, wanting to break out of a bad habit or lifestyle choice but always finding yourself falling right back into it is arguably one of the most notorious human flaws.
Nico Bellic is the best written with depth but Trevor Philips is the most fun and overall best. Every scene he is in, you already know shits gonna go south.
As niko tells kate in a optional dialogue he doesn't think people can change and that's why he keeps falling back into the criminal world, because he thinks he doesn't know how to live a normal life, despite wanting to. To this, kate replies "so you can go on like this until there's no one else to kill? Or until you die? Grow up, be free, it's over the life you're doing now, you can still turn it around. At least think about it" I think this whole exchange is one of the major reasons why you should take revenge ending, because taking deal is basically agreeing with niko about people not being able to change since, in deal niko chooses money and to still work for criminals over his principles while in revenge he chooses his principles by killing dimitri to be free like kate suggested him and cut his ties with the criminal underworld so he can finally try and live a normal life. Of course both endings have sad outcomrs but deal is definitely worse than revenge since niko ends up losing roman as well as kate who dumps him for choosing money over his principlrs, not to mention that Roman's kid will grow up without a father, while in Revenge Niko only loses Kate but has still Roman who tells niko that him and Mallorie are his family and will always stay close to him.
Recently played through this title. I found myself enjoying pool as a mini game and would call up the buddies to play often. Eventually your peeps will tell you that they do not want to/feel like playing. Didn't notice that before in my youth playthroughs because I was naturally having more fun putting in cheat codes and mostly ignoring the story. Haha but I thought that was a relatively cool detail to add in. It gives the characters more life and makes them feel real. Silly i know, but most developers would not think to include something like this so thought i would mention it. Always thought and still feel that this is the better gta title despite the balancing issues you mentioned with basically needing cheat codes to play it without getting annoyed. Good video as always man. Cheers brother.
Sin 3: Niko hadn't met Roman in several decades, and Niko spent most of those years in eastern european countries with relatively limited internet access, there's a good chance he didn't even know images could be sent over email. Sin 5: what do you expect him to say? He's obviously not gonna go on a rant about committing crimes against humanity that he himself is disgusted by. Sin 6: Niko immigrated to liberty city illegally. Sin 7: Roman didn't have anyone telling him to not drive to the docks while drunk, and he allowed Niko to drive because Niko suggested it. Sin 8: skill issue. Sin 9: yes they would, they literally do in real life. Sin 12: that's not what he said, and even if that was what he meant, it wouldn't be a flaw of the game or its writing. Sin 14: that's not what he said. Sin 17: Roman was already in the car with the engine running, Niko had enough time to start driving. Sin 19: they had been keeping tabs on Niko for a long time before he arrived in liberty city, probably because of his connection to Bulgarin, they probably started keeping tabs on him when he got on the ship traveling to liberty city several months prior the beginning of the game. the plan to get him aquainted with Michelle was set in motion before he even stepped foot in America. Sin 21: it's important for the story to have these characters make attempts at living like normal people. Sin 24: he's forcing Niko to commit crimes for him as payment for Romans depts. Sin 28: nobody in the story cares that Mallorie is messing around with other guys, beyond Roman being jealous, he'd be a hypocrite if he tried to act like she's a horrible person for it, when he's no better. Sin 29: the difference is that Niko hates Vlad, he does not hate Roman. Sin 30: you present Niko recounting those events from his own bias perspective as a flaw of this game. It is not. Sin 31: that's not true, for the entire game, Niko is making connections with as many organized crime groups as he can, with the intention of getting aquainted with people who could help him find the people he's looking for. He specifically asked Ray to help him find Florian, and he asked the UPLL for it too, but they knew he was actually looking for Darco. Sin 40: if you pay attention, you can see that Niko doesn't understand anything Badman is saying, Jacob is more comprehensible Sin 42: Niko didn't betray Bulgarin, he nearly died in a job gone wrong and Bulgarin accused Niko of stealing from him. Vlad on the other hand was never Niko's boss, Niko hated him from the start and never hid the fact he doesn't like him. But Niko is loyal to Roman and his army buddies that he wants to avenge. Sin 50: GTA4 doesn't have a morality system, the player having a choice to spare some characters has nothing to do with morality, if anything it's something you can do out of spite to the people that ordered niko to kill those characters. Sin 52: New York City is the largest city in the world, it's not unreasonable to hide from people by going to a different part of it. Sin 54: Niko literally said he does this work because it's something he's good at, and he needs money, and he doesn't care if he lives or dies. Him trying to leave the crime life behind him is something he only briefly considers at the end of the the game. Sin 61: Mallorie grew up in that neighborhood. Also, mathematically, mallorie only introduced Niko go Manny and Elizabeta, that's only 2 people which a drop in the bucket of the amount of terrible people Niko gets aquainted with in this game. Sin 62: they literally did bring heroin, that was the whole point of them going there. Sin 64: in case you didn't notice, Niko is a bad person, as evident by the amount of crimes he has done in a game about being a criminal. Sin 65: people want Niko working for them, because he's an efficient murderer, so if they want people killed, he can get it done. Sin 70: you have no reason to think that, unless you expect to be shown something that obviously happened offscreen. Sin 72: Ray isn't a mob boss, he's a guy with connections to a mob boss.
Gta 4 had the best car physics in the whole series. It actually took some skills to drive and not every car drove the same. The damage system was wayyy better and with that version of the euphoria engine it was the best fun you could have with car in any videogame
Agreed. I was saying the same thing for years. They were the most realistic of any of the games to-date. You had to account for weight and inertia which is less arcade-y than I think most people liked.
12:43 you’re not correct in your commentary here, both sides committed war crimes and people were ‘disappeared’ from both sides, so what niko is saying is actually plausible
GTA4 will always hold special for me. Me and my little brother would play it for hours on end together. One time one of us ran over a lady of the night, and she got up and sat on the hood of the car until it was totalled. We spent a solid 30 min straight dying of laughter. That was atleast 14-15 years ago and ill never forget it
Thanks to the Euphoria engine that gave you two Euphoria 🫣 Hopefully GTA VI portrays females with an higher IQ or at least tries to make them more relateable than for "whatever reason Michael stuck with Amanda since his Ludendorff crime buddies traps set by the feds". Michael is dumb with not only his finger and his thumb - that's the only possible solution why he stayed factually in this toxic relationship? Amanda even treats Trevor like an invader after he shows up. "I just wanna normal life" Michael should despise Amanda way more - as she is the pushing angle behind his back and the mother of his children. Michael still is an ignorant fool with sociopath... Episodes throughout the game. Him constantly lying towards Trevor makes him a terrible crime and Business partner in the 'GTA HD universe'. Give me Kendl or Mallorie (Bardas) Bellic everday other anyone close to Michael. Ursula > Patricia (Trevor's girlfriends)
Same can be said about his gta San Andreas video but honestly it's like expecting too much of a coherent storyline from a video game. Whatever exists may not be perfect but is enjoyable to say the least
@@yuutaruu4242 1. Mallorie was planted there because they knew Mallorie was friend of Elizabeta, Niko only accidentally got involved. 2. Johnny had heroin on him during that mission, they say it in cutscene and in TLAD Johnny meets with Brian before heading to a deal. 3. Dimitri didn't want to work with Niko again, deal offer was another attempt to ambush and kill NIko And there's plenty more, like 80% of sins are for things he didn't even attempt to understand or is ignorant to, he clearly didn't pay attention to anything in this game and didn't even complete 2 endings. I like this channel but this is most half assed sins video i've seen in a long time.
Grand theft Auto IV will always be one of my favorite games and in the top 3 in the series for its dark storytelling, atmosphere and dlc episodes that tie in so well. Rockstar disrespected this game so much by not giving it a remastered, definitive edition or even a 10 year anniversary.😭
It’s literally the best GTA game ever made. The best storyline, theme, characters, everything. You really feel for Niko and what he’s going through. And if you include the DLC’s too, there’s really no argument.
@El_Fonzo I fly off the highways in gta 5 more than any gta game ever made I don't fly off the highway in gta 4 unless I choose too where there are holes to drop from
At this point I just wanna see the rockstar executives admit that they secretly hate IV, considering we never even got a remastered let alone a 10 year anniversary.
@@Alex_finesse The remaster was because Definitive Edition flopped, so that's not 4's fault itself, even if unfair. And GTA 5 didn't get anything for its 10 year anniversary either, did it?
@@Supahdenning Aside from a few legacy outfits from the main story, nah, not much. But I mean, they repeatedly released the game over the span of three different console generations. I think people would've been pissed if they had actually taken even more time out of working on VI just to release a fourth version of V.😅
I enjoy darts comment section. It's fun watching the dck riders of whatever game he sins lose their minds. Yes, he makes mistakes. Yes probably a few per video. But this is also satire/light hearted ribbing and he plays the game once mostly through the story while streaming and he does all his editing and writing himself. People always compare him to cinemasins as if a. That wasn't his inspiration and he's not honest about it and b. Without realizing that cinema sins has teams of 2-3ish people who also watch and write sins. It's not just the one dude watching a movie once, writing, recording and editing. It's almost like if a simple mistake or whatever makes you that mad maybe just don't watch his Content and i find it hilarious that every comment drives the algorithm so all they're doing is helping him.
It never occured to me that GTAIV was a prototype of GTAV until you brought up the 3 main characters. You got an immigrant, a psycho, and a black guy. The only difference is that in GTAV you dont need DLC to play as all of them
Yeah but I always felt like for as many steps forward V took, it somehow took twice as many steps back when compared to IV & episodes. The biggest example of this for me is the lack of open world activities and places to enter in V. That and IV’s physics will always be more enjoyable for me, especially when you crash and go flying 30 feet away from the car.😂
@@nygelwilliams5880 I know what you mean. They stripped the activities like bowling, drinking, etc., in exchange for different characters to play as. Maybe with GTA VI we'll get both. If Rockstar can make testicles shrink in cold weather, they can make it to where we can play poker as different characters
It's very strange that there were no police at Frankie's funeral, when I played I distinctly remember there being at least one police officer in the cutscene, and that I didn't receive a wanted level for the rest of the mission resulting in police on the street shooting at only the Albanians. There are actually a few missions we're wanted levels are disabled but this is amongst the most obvious since it takes place on the streets instead of an abandoned warehouse or factory.
The police don’t respect Francis so it isn’t far fetched that they couldn’t be bothered to turn up to his funeral. Hell the only one who seemed hurt by his passing was his mother the rest showed up out of principle or to support their mother not because they cared for Francis
Seems like I will be that Serb Dartigan mentioned in his video :), but I guess I need to clear out a couple of misconceptions: 1. Niko didn't fight in Bosnia. Bosnian war was in the time period of 1992-1995, which means that Niko, being born in 1978 would only be 17 years old at the time that war ended (he was 14 when it started which makes it unlikely he participated in it. It wasn't too often that kids at that age fought in the war, although it could have happened. It makes much more sense that he fought in the Kosovo war (1998-1999) where he would be of age. He even gets into the conflict with Albanians at the beginning of the game which might be an implicit low key indication of what war he fought in. 2. There has never been a genocide in Bosnia. I am sorry the media that always lies to you lied you again. There were crimes, there were ethnic cleansings, there were massacres, but there weren't genocides. Srebrenica was done under the excuse of the retaliation for the Bosnian military crimes (yes, there were crimes against the Serbs as well, go figure!) and only the military capable men were executed which means it cannot have been a genocide. 3. 12:50 Niko said that he had gone to ambush a squad that killed some innocents. Serbs weren't the only ones who committed war crimes. It is diabolically dumb to believe that there has ever been a war where only one side does bad things. And no, you cannot make the case where the Serbs were "worse" by a significant margin either. They only fought for what was theirs just like the rest did. I know this is supposed to be a comical video, but comedy is not entertaining if you get your facts wrong.
It's kinda crazy that GTA4 had an achievement called "Assassins Greed", just one year after the first Assassins Creed game. And now both franchises are more popular than ever 16 years later.
Assassins Creed was literally never a "popular" franchise, especially post 2015. Overhyped and overpromoted doesn't mean "popular" anymore than The Last of Us 2 or Alan Wake 2 were "popular."
The Witcher 2 had an assassin's creed Easter egg where you find a white robed assassin dead in a haystack, and now years later, you have Ubisoft trying to turn assassin's creed into a witcher clone lol.
lol I saw it bro and at first I wasn’t even gonna give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Instead I skipped through the video several times and just came to the comments😂
The actual gameplay issues you and other people have are just skills issues. I have no problem playing the game. I turn auto aim off because it's too easy otherwise.
Lmao, exactly what I was thinking bro. This is definitely a case of skill issue because, as far as the driving and shooting are concerned, I’ve never had a problem with either. Some people are just too used to the unrealistic but fun driving physics that V has to offer.
@@Alex_finesse For real bro. I hope they bring back realistic driving physics like this for 6 - or at least an option to choose between realistic & unrealistic physics. That'd be dope
@@jfkinq999 Bro that’d be awesome, an option to choose between realistic or unrealistic driving physics would be the perfect addition to the franchise.
@@jfkinq999 bro that’d actually be pretty badass and hopefully like you said they would give the same option to switch between automatic or manual, cause you already know homie that somehow people are going to complain about it being in the game because it’s too realistic😑
God, there is so much wrong in this video! Dude, Niko can’t just walk away from crime after leaving Hove beach because 1) Roman’s gambling is making them broke and getting loan sharks after them and 2) Dimitri and Bolgarin are after him! Who’s the hell do you expect Niko Roman to a live a normal life, even if they leave liberty city, when they have targets on their backs? Do you even realize how many connections Dimitri and Bolgarin could have? What kills me is “Roman is safe and Niko could use this opportunity to get away from crime and violence” yet keeps the sin knowing that Dimitri kidnaps him later in the game….what!? He is trying to survive, keep Roman safe and make sure they have enough money to have a roof over their heads! This is common sense, dude and the game shows this! The diamonds do lead to fun missions like the museum shoot out, the shoot out at the docks in TLAD and blowing up the lost in TBOGT! Hell the saddest ending in TLAD happened BECAUSE of Johnny taking Ray’s money so what are you talking about? Niko is trying to live a good life and trying to change, one of the reasons he came to liberty city is to get away from the shit happening at home and he says this! Roman, despite his faults, is kinda like Niko’s conscious and trying to lead him away from this life hell when Roman tells Niko he had a dream about getting away from this craziness and opening a tavern. He even saw Niko was married. Niko not wanting to work with Brucie after finding out he had roid rage makes sense since he bring that much attention on himself AND what if Brucie gets pissed at him or Roman? A roid raged Brucie is too unpredictable for Niko to work with compared to the other criminals he works with cause at least they think shit out. What’s wrong with Niko going in a room to kill drug dealers for Manny? You just sin it without any explanation. Malorie said she grew up in Bohan so no shit she happens to know criminals and she didn’t know Michelle or Karen was a fed. If you played lost and dammed then the sin you put on the undercover heroin buyer should be taken off. Even without that game, Elizabeta tells you that Johnny’s been sitting on some Heroin! That’s the reason Johnny goes with you! Niko helps Manny just to get paid! Like I said, he’s working so hard to make sure him and Roman survive so he has to work with scumbags who’ll pay for him to kill people. People want to work with Niko cause he’s hood at what he does. He’s just one man and he killed a Russian mob boss on his own, these people who want him to work for them are just arrogant and think they can take Niko out…and as you said, they’ve been proven wrong. Common sense, come on Niko understands Jacob because he’s been around him for a while and started picking up on what he’s saying, just like what Roman says after the FIRST mission with Jacob! How did you miss that? It sounds like you’re just hanging up the phone after every mission and it shows cause you’re missing so much. The ULP most likely knew about the deal because they’re a freaking government agency! They knew everything about Niko’s past so no shit they’d know about the deal. Common sense would tell you that Karen’s boss called her and told her where to be. Niko doesn’t rat on anybody out so that sin where he says he isn’t a rat makes no sense. Packie can’t be pissed cause even he’s being used by the Pegarinos! That’s like you and friend doing a job together then your friend gets pissed that the boss tells you two to do a job, did you have a brain fart cause Packie explains this during his second mission that his family works for the pegarinos since the McReary family aren’t as big as they were back in the day. Niko has put effort in finding Florian and Darko! He’s just trying to scrape together enough money to survive with his cousin! I believe in one of the player initiated calls he tells Roman he’s working with Ray and that he might be able to help him find Florian or Darko. There’s so much more but I have a headache cause my god Also the driving is amazing! Ya’ll just have a skill issue!
@@M0rinkashi I haven’t watched cinema sins for a while but I have heard they fell off but I always chalked it up to people being butt hurt their favorite movies got sinned. Then again just like this guy, they both must’ve blacked out certain scenes that happened, was explained and common sense! Seriously, he thinks Niko and Roman can just leave liberty city about being run out of hove beach? If they found Niko in LC then what does he think is gonna happen if they left!?
I've done exactly 1 *(one)* playthrough and even I can tell that this dude didn't pay a single bit of attention to the story, nor did any basic thinking. I mean for fuck's sake, he seriously wonders why ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS didn't go through CUSTOMS. Absolute room temp IQ take.
@@n8dogue Bro forgot the game takes place in 2008 and not 2024 where an illegal immigrant can come in and get taken care of more than homeless Americans.
@@GunthersLoyalSoldier1307 Ah, I was wondering why y'all are being overpassionate dickheads about an old ass janky video game, but this comment explains where you basement dwellers come from, thank you.
Great insight for a classic game. Although the situations in a GTA game are outlandish, you gave a well rounded commentary of the game as it was. Well done.
44:07 I mean he did arrive from Bucharest Romania to America on a plane, then put in a van and dropped off at the cargo area of the same airport. Where would you like them to drop him off? At Burger Shot? Your sin is a whole lotta nonsense.
30:49 This isn’t an ordinary robbery where the robbers are easily arrested, this is a full-blown heist. They probably did know what they were going against, but it is very difficult to fight off men who have advanced weapons too and aren’t going down easily. So protecting the subway is more harder too.
I never understood how people think Dimitri is a good villain. He does absolutely nothing in the game. His betrayal isn’t as impactful as Big Smoke’s or because you only do several missions with him and he’s not likable like Big Smoke or badass like Micah Bell, so you have no reason to be caught off guard. He betrays you and is absent until the end of the game, I totally forgot about his character other than a couple of phone calls until that mission.
It never ever makes any sense to me either. Its never ever said why he killed off his initial friend. Then for absolutely no reason whatsoever has it out for Niko. And only Niko. When Niko did fuck all to him. Not only that Dimitri is more or less completely forgotten about up until the end of the game where the Mafia boss turns up and says hello yeah I need your help but you need to work with.
I agree with everything except the “Badass like Micah Bell” bit. The thing with Big Smoke and Micah is that you had more time and interaction with them, as well as more time to see the twist coming after the fact. In Big Smoke’s case, you see him constantly talking to CRASH and clearly has clashes with Sweet over their gang direction. Micah, by contrast, is clearly a murderous psychopath with zero redeeming qualities. A betrayal from Micah is so obvious that you could spot it from Mars. Dimitri’s betrayal, on the other hand, comes a bit too fast with little interaction. You can’t see the cracks easily on a second take, let alone a first take. Only by getting the “bad ending” of the game will you see that Dimitri betrays every single person he deals with.
@@operationangel7940 nah I think you’re just hate Micah, and you’re supposed to. That means he is a good villain Dimitri’s betrayal isn’t impactful at all because it happens after like 4 missions and he doesn’t do shit the entire game than run that ruskie mouth of his. Micah’s betrayal wasn’t expected because nobody thought he was a rat. It was implied that Molly or Abigail may have been the rat before Milton revealed the truth to Arthur. Micah isn’t badass because of his betrayal, he’s just a badass because he is one to begin with. By chapter 6 everyone knew he was going to be an antagonist but nobody thought he was the main one, everyone thought Dutch or Milton was.
@@logger22 Dude if you didn’t think Micah would betray you you were asleep the entire game. Dimitri’s betrayal wasn’t meant to be shocking. He was never Niko’s friend and it happens the literal next mission you kill Faustin which he warned Niko Dimitri will turn on him too. And if you say Dimitri does nothing throughout the game then you didn’t pay attention. Not only does Dimitri hunt Niko and Roman down but his organization proves to be a burden for the police, the Commision and other mob families, politicians, etc. He leagues with other mobsters and you fight his faction in several missions. The mayor says Russian organized crime (aka Dimitri) is even worse than the Mafia and wants to put it to an end. He blackmails politicians. Dimitri has major influence throughout the game even if he himself is not physically present.
I think "Daddy's back bitches!!" was supposed to be a call out to all the open world games that had come out between San Andreas and GTA IV, if so that is awesome😁
"A DLC you'll have to pay money for" mate I'll buy lost & damned or the ballad of gay tony twice, before I spend even a cent on a sharkcard.... I KNOW I'VE SEEN ME DO IT!
5:48 I LOVED the driving in GTA4. I got to the point where I was driving a comet in reverse, throwing sticky bombs onto pursuing police, doing a 180 and speeding off as I detonated a bunch of cop cars into space.
Sin 139 - it is stated many times in the game that Niko didn't know where Dimitri was hiding and viceversa until Pegorino gives him the location of where Dimitri would have been that day, that's how Niko can finally have a shot at killing him. Sin 140 - this is hardly a game's sin since it gives you the choice to hang out with kate and get to know her better and make her and niko grow closer which makes her death not as sad as Roman's but still very tragic since Kate was Niko's only chance at having a normal life since she was a good person who he wanted to one day marry like Roman did with Mallorie, but Pegorino killing Kate ruined all that for Niko and forced him back into the criminal world. If you were too lazy to hang out with kate and explore all the available dialogues niko can have with her it's your problem, not the game's. Sin 147 - I disagree killing either Dimitri or Pegorino is a lot more satisfying then killing any of the bland gta 5 villains who I never cared much for, some barely even appear in the game like Stretch and the chinese mob boss (I even forgot the name) not to mention how there's not even a final boss fight in 5 with any of the game's main villains since you easily kill them all and only really get to fight their men (countless and nameless npcs with automatic guns). Dimitri betrayed Niko, destroyed Roman's house and job, kidnapped him and tried multiple times during the game to kill Niko and Pegorino literally destroyed Niko's only chance to be done with the criminal world and have an happy and good life with a woman he was falling for. And they actually put up a fight at the end, so to me killing them was a lot satisfying. You might have played the game, but just to sin it, without really get into it or understand it. Also only like a few sins were valid, you made many more errors in your other sins that show how you weren't really paying too much attention to the story but it would take me too much to write all the wrong things you said in this vid. Plus I suspect you're a gta 5 fanboy so of course you don't like 4.
Sin 140 - it IS kinda game's fault. I was dating Kiki half of the game and was content with it, not cheating on her with other girls. And then game just says that this is BS and Niko all this time loved Kate after exchange of words in two cutscenes. So if the game wants me to choose GF and date her, its better not to cancel my choice and expect me to care for other gal dying in cutscene. Especially if they made her death canon.
@@Artemas_16 did you pay attention to the dialogues niko has with kiki? He doesn't really like her because she is kind of a cheap girl who has some sort of obsession with criminals and in fact most of her exes are her own clients (since she is a lawyer) who were criminals who committed brutal crimes and eventually even them ended up breaking up with her, from what she says, some dumped her because she became too clingy and obsessive and others because they ended up in jail and got life sentence. Niko even mentions "I think I know now why you wanted to date me". Kiki is sick in the head. That is also proven if you date another girl while dating her, and she'd often show up outside the restaurant making a scene. Whether you liked/dated Kate or not, storywise Kate is the only girl that Niko will truly like because unlike the other girls he meets in the game she actually has principles.
4:40 The alcohol likely didn’t start kicking in yet in Roman’s system until he arrived at the docks. And besides, it’s not even a long drive anyway to go pick up Niko, so this sin is ridiculous.
You killed Dwaynes girlfriend?! -100 sins I will say this is one of the most poignant and culturally relevant games in history, moreso than even GTA V. Maybe because NYC reflects reality better than LA.
One thing you must remember, is that Niko was a child/teen soldier. His in game age is 30, Darko and Bernie refer to what they experienced as 12-13 years ago, most likely confirming that they fought during the Bosnian conflict, given the time frame. Point is, all sides of that war committed atrocities, making Niko a product of an extremely gruesome environment, he didn't get a chance to grow up any other way, but was still able to maintain a moral compass and a compassionate heart. Niko is a complex character, he carries guilt and regret with him, but has accepted that he's too far gone.. He knows that he's a bad man, but wishes he wasn't. I don't think he should be singled out for the war he grew up in.
9:05 mallorie is frm south bx and has connections to elizabeta, someone massively involved with coke. as niko comes to the us as a foreign veteran, it’s an automatic red flag that his ptsd or smth will make him do smth bad. she keeps watch on any possible connection to elizabeta or the coke scene in general. the only time she even busts him doing something bad IS when he has the coke that’s the only thing she knows and cares about
It's always sad being reminded how people's attention span is so bad they struggle with 40 minute videos, but hey, good you still make these, they are great and would suck as 10 minute run-through' ones.
5:50 I absolutely love the physics of driving cars in this game. Don't get me wrong, its not realistic and sometimes is quite bad, I just enjoy how squishy everything is and how you can do power slides in basically every car
17:30 Actually, that's might be not a sin. Those guys owe money to Mikhail, so this business (as well as the building) should be under insurance. So when their building were blown up they most likely received paycheck from insurance company and gave those money from paycheck to Mikhail as the payment for the debt. If that was Mikhail's idea - that doesnt sound as bad decision (if we ignore killing people and stuff)
29:30 Mallorie has strong connections with criminals. So it’s possible that one of them happened to feed to her that Roman may be kidnapped. This wasn’t obviously in the papers or Weasel News. So pay attention or you won’t get it.
And...and? Even cinema sins videos run an average of 20 to 30 minutes over content that's 90 to 120 minutes long. This is a 20-30 hour game. I mean if you don't wanna watch it...don't. But there's plenty of us who thoroughly enjoy the longer videos. I get it, not for everyone for sure. And why in the world am I bothering to even reply to this? Well all comments, including yours, drives the algorithm for him so despite yours being...odd...I'm sure he appreciates the engagement lol
39:05 But how would Gerry be able to tell him that? He obviously doesn’t want to look suspicious saying those words on a prison phone given he doesn’t have his own phone on him, and he does need to explain at least some of the details in person in order for Niko to understand rather than being vague.
39:22 Did you not pay attention to the phone call before you get the ransom mission? Packie said he can’t do it himself because his mother is still in mourning over her sons’ death. As for Gordon, he either doesn’t want to start fighting with Gracie to get a photo, or he doesn’t have a camera on his phone to do so. Don’t assume you are always right with everything.
meh not gonna lie. This video was pretty weak, no hate but I feel like you haven’t at all understood most of the story points. For example, the only reason why mallorie was cheating on Roman was to protect him from being killed by vlad, hence the reason why Vlad kept on giving him money.
Bro yesss, it’s ridiculous that we never got a remastered, definitive edition or even a 10 year anniversary, the disrespect rockstar shows IV is unhinged.
4:22 "stupid things and some idiots" clearly isn't about the war, it's about what he did AFTER it ended, he literally says so "after the war I couldn't get a job..." 17:35 that's the point, Mikhail is insane, his plans don't make sense bc he has almost no grip in reality anymore 18:49 it was a boat full of human cargo that sank and Niko was the only survivor, Bulgarin thinks Niko lied about this, he doesn't want the money, he wants to kill Niko 22:00 that's why he breaks the camera right after that 33:40 many characters comment on how Ray is an idiot and his plan is nonsensical, and a homeless guy does end up with the diamonds after dumpster diving 37:12 Karen was using Mallorie to spy on Elizabeta, Niko arriving was a coincidence that led to Karen's mission being changed 42:25 it's a known fact that the heads of the Italian mob families keep contact with people from the FBI and the CIA, the Italian mobsters help the feds take down mafias from other ethnicities and possible terrorists (and by that I mean Muslim immigrants) and in return they get to keep their biggest businesses 45:43 Dimitri doesn't want to work with Niko, if you choose 'Deal' you find out it's a trap to kill Niko
GTA 4 is still my favourite single player of the franchise. And I use to agree about needing cheats to play and have fun while actually completing the game. About a year ago I went back and did them 100% no cheats and can say I had a blast.
27:22 Niko wouldn’t just kill all of them like that without knowing which is Marlon. He does need something to go by, it’s not like he’ll know what he looks like immediately just because someone told him who he needs to kill. If he just said, “Yeah I killed him,” and then suddenly he is informed he is still standing, wouldn’t he feel angry at Playboy for that?
13:10 It is going to be difficult to find the man who killed his friends if the bridges are closed off and crime is at an all time high around Liberty City. And I doubt Niko is making it a super high priority to find him because he wants to settle in to his new home and try not to do bad things, which he unfortunately puts himself to.
I mean, yeah, Niko most likely did kill civilians. But there is a limit to blatant anti-Serbian chauvinism, my guy. Serbia has also taken responsibility for the Bosnian war (even though it was the entity of the Republic of Srpska, not Serbia, who was engaged in the war, because Yugoslavia, or rather just Serbia, was under sanctions and was forbidden from supporting Republic of Srpska. Serbia extradited a lot of alleged war criminals, so your claim that they don't take responsibility is just wrong and stems from hatred and ignorance). There have been a lot of stried for peace and reconciliation, so I am not sure what Balkan discourse, if any, you have been watching. You are treating it like only the Serbs have committed war crimes. If you had seen the Hague tribunal even recently, a lot of Bosniak and Croat leaders have been convicted of horrible crimes as well. But hey, Serbia wants to be friends with Russia, so let's just blame Serbia and make them evil, I guess. That's just chauvinism, my guy.
@@jlev1028 Guess who ruled the republic of Bosnia and Herzeg-Bosnia, places populated with Serbs? Not Serbs. Those Serbs were treated so nicely that tens of thousands are still unaccounted for. Your point goes literally back to your face.
While the Story and acting might imply that Nico is Serbian and its about the Balkan War, as far as i remember its never specified what Country they are from.
in the literal start of the game, roman says something like "your english is better than my SERBIAN" . Niko, Roman, Darko, Florian are also names found throughout whole ex yugoslavia, but primarily used in serbia
There are also parts of the game where he doesn't, and it's just generic eastern European sounding gibberish. If you play it with the subtitles on, it's very obvious, and then there's his last name, which is sorta misspelled and misspronounced from what it should be in serbian
@@aircraftnut15Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian are the same language. Only real difference is the spelling cause Serbs use the Cyrillic alphabet. Only other real difference between the 3 is religion. Aside from those two things, they’re ethnically the same people whether they like to admit it or not.
Five was probably the poorest handling of an ending in the gta series. They really tried to speed run a lot of side stories and plot lines in the final few hours of the game, opening more plot holes and creating rushed character development that in turn made completing the game all the more unsatisfying. The third and final act is pretty much a collection of missions from rockstar saying “oh shit, we forgot to wrap _______ story up, let’s throw in two missions that make zero since to the plot and move on” and they do it for every main or side character they spent the first two acts needlessly building up just to toss to the side so the finale can happen with a clear and obvious conclusion they wanted players to make.
In here, they just sound more professional.
yeah but theres not really a cut off point. one day he just knows english somehow
He is not angry at Vlad for sleeping with Malory he doesn't care, he is angry at being called disloyal, loyalty is a big part of the game.

You know, I hadn't actually thought about how Niko had done zero searching for the people he was looking for ever since he arrived.
Say what you want but the GTA 4 theme is Timeless!
Agreed!!!
Chills everytime
And the level of detail is absolute best.
Ok
What if I say the gta 4 theme isn’t timeless, I might even say it sucks, what then?
On an unrelated note, wasn't Nico like 13-14 when he was recruited as a soldier into the war.. He was betrayed when he was around 18-20.. That age adds a lot of context for why he just wants to go bowling with his cousin.. His voice just makes him sound older..
Probably aged poorly considering he was fighting in a war and working for human traffickers for over half his life
It's 2024. spell Niko correctly.
@@saintfreezy6914 Apologies. That's my mistake.

Sin 40: if you pay attention, you can see that Niko doesn't understand anything Badman is saying, Jacob is more comprehensible
Sin 42: Niko didn't betray Bulgarin, he nearly died in a job gone wrong and Bulgarin accused Niko of stealing from him.

3. Dimitri didn't want to work with Niko again, deal offer was another attempt to ambush and kill NIko
And there's plenty more, like 80% of sins are for things he didn't even attempt to understand or is ignorant to, he clearly didn't pay attention to anything in this game and didn't even complete 2 endings.

The XBOX 360 disc does still work for Xbox series
It’s literally the best GTA game ever made. The best storyline, theme, characters, everything. You really feel for Niko and what he’s going through.
And if you include the DLC’s too, there’s really no argument.

@@jordanwiese1943 car handling is chopy and terrible. And you will fly off the highway in 4.

19:07 what? Nikos job was busted by the authorities, why would you assume the boat with the immigrants was sunk. niko just made his escape swimming.
It never occured to me that GTAIV was a prototype of GTAV until you brought up the 3 main characters. You got an immigrant, a psycho, and a black guy. The only difference is that in GTAV you dont need DLC to play as all of them
Call a Dominican guy black in real life and you’ll be cursed out at best
Yeah but I always felt like for as many steps forward V took, it somehow took twice as many steps back when compared to IV & episodes. The biggest example of this for me is the lack of open world activities and places to enter in V. That and IV’s physics will always be more enjoyable for me, especially when you crash and go flying 30 feet away from the car.😂
@@nygelwilliams5880 I know what you mean. They stripped the activities like bowling, drinking, etc., in exchange for different characters to play as. Maybe with GTA VI we'll get both.
Seems like I will be that Serb Dartigan mentioned in his video :), but I guess I need to clear out a couple of misconceptions:
Silly of you to expect an American to have his facts straight on foreign history and geography. They don't even know their own properly.

Boy has the years flown by.

Didn't Niko say he wanted a normal life? Yeah, so go eat a burger and watch a show to make him happy then!
Dwayne's perk is him sending his 2 goons to help you out. By the way.
Common sense, come on
Niko understands Jacob because he’s been around him for a while and started picking up on what he’s saying, just like what Roman says after the FIRST mission with Jacob!
There’s so much more but I have a headache cause my god
Also the driving is amazing! Ya’ll just have a skill issue!

Wow. Just got out of the shower. Crazy to be this early
That means he is a good villain
Dimitri’s betrayal isn’t impactful at all because it happens after like 4 missions and he doesn’t do shit the entire game than run that ruskie mouth of his.

-100 sins
I will say this is one of the most poignant and culturally relevant games in history, moreso than even GTA V.
"I dont know how to play this game without cheating, sin obviously"
You really are the game version of cinemasins
9:05 mallorie is frm south bx and has connections to elizabeta, someone massively involved with coke. as niko comes to the us as a foreign veteran, it’s an automatic red flag that his ptsd or smth will make him do smth bad. she keeps watch on any possible connection to elizabeta or the coke scene in general. the only time she even busts him doing something bad IS when he has the coke
that’s the only thing she knows and cares about
It's always sad being reminded how people's attention span is so bad they struggle with 40 minute videos, but hey, good you still make these, they are great and would suck as 10 minute run-through' ones.
Gaming Sins is also playing the game with like a handicap challenge run of no subtitles. Because he needs room on the screen for his own subtitles.
The biggest sin was thinking I’m gonna listen to your voice for 48 minutes

meh not gonna lie. This video was pretty weak, no hate but I feel like you haven’t at all understood most of the story points. For example, the only reason why mallorie was cheating on Roman was to protect him from being killed by vlad, hence the reason why Vlad kept on giving him money.
It also could be attempt to get Roman jealous, so he would spend more time with her, instead of watching titties in strip-club.

'Niko, it's your cousin. Let's go bowling?'
Guess who ruled the Republic of Srpska at the time? Oh that's right, Serbs.
@@jlev1028 Guess who ruled the republic of Bosnia and Herzeg-Bosnia, places populated with Serbs? Not Serbs. Those Serbs were treated so nicely that tens of thousands are still unaccounted for. Your point goes literally back to your face.
Playing GTA IV without radio downgrage is a bigger sin than any this game ever had. Shame on you.
While the Story and acting might imply that Nico is Serbian and its about the Balkan War, as far as i remember its never specified what Country they are from.
The Rockstar devs said that he is Serbian, and the voice actor said that he hired a guy to help him with the Serbian pronounciation.
in the literal start of the game, roman says something like "your english is better than my SERBIAN" . Niko, Roman, Darko, Florian are also names found throughout whole ex yugoslavia, but primarily used in serbia
There are multiple parts in the game where Nico speaks Serbian
There are also parts of the game where he doesn't, and it's just generic eastern European sounding gibberish. If you play it with the subtitles on, it's very obvious, and then there's his last name, which is sorta misspelled and misspronounced from what it should be in serbian
@@aircraftnut15Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian are the same language. Only real difference is the spelling cause Serbs use the Cyrillic alphabet. Only other real difference between the 3 is religion. Aside from those two things, they’re ethnically the same people whether they like to admit it or not.
Minus 60 sins for the fire ass theme song
I can already see a 'hey cousin let's go bowling' sin
Dartigan back with one of my fave games!!!
