The history of momo in Nepal dates back to as early as the fourteenth century. Momo was initially a Newari food in the Katmandu valley. It was later introduced to Tibet, China and as far away as Japan by a Nepalese princess who was married to a Tibetan king in the late fifteenth century.
Hey Rohit I just wanna share you the information what I know actually you don't pronounce momo or momos the real pronounce is म:म: which means "Steam" in Newari language and it is one of the typical food of Newari community. When we looked at the history म:म: was there since 12th centuries but in Tibet and China they have the history since 14th centuries. After Princess Bhrikuti from Nepal got married to Tibet. She carried the cultural to Tibet. What I would say most importantly who ever and where ever it was invented everybody enjoy eating म:म: 😊 😊 😊 And that is so sweet of you trying to speak in Nepali language 🙏🙏🙏
One thing I noticed from my visit to nepal, their food are more hygenic than in india . In india people touch the food directly with hand .Something that indians can learn. We should learn good things from each other
Your history on momo is wrong. Momo is originally from Nepal. Dumpling has long history which is from China but similar kinds of food is also found in different parts of the world. For e.g-ravioli-Italy, pelmeni- Russia,pierogi-Poland,manti- turkey , momo- nepal, bahn bot loc-Vietnam,maultasche-Germany. Tibet got momo from nepal in 14th century.

Origin of Momo : The origins of momo are debated because of how many are eaten in Tibet, Nepal, and India. Some say momo originated in Tibet, where communities have steamed them over communal fires for centuries. Others say a Nepalese Newari princess introduced momo to Tibet in the late 15th century when she married a Tibetan king. The word "momo" comes from the Newar word mome, which means "cooking by steaming". Nepalese momo are an important part of the country's cuisine and culture, especially in the Kathmandu Valley, where they are often served at festivals and special occasions. Momo have also traveled to other countries, including India, Europe, and Afghanistan, where they have been adapted with different fillings.
Don’t lie man, Momo, Thukpa, Thenthuk, T momo and Chomein these foods are Tibetan food, , Newari have there own food and rich culture, But Newari Bojh ( it’s like buffet) never served Momo, Newari people don’t cook steam food and they don’t eat Maida or Atta, momo skin is Maida or atta, that’s why mono is not Newari food, Momo is called dumpling some other country like China, Japan, (they called Gyoza) Korea, Mongolia, Central Asia country, even Russia has also smiler Momo, Anyway, Momo is not Nepali food and neither South Asia food,
Dude, that Chatpate Momo is actually a rubbish! Just the momo might have been a better dish but that Chatpate is not even a chatpate infact, it's a dried instant noodle mixed with spicy masalas! Wonder what they'll add if that Waiwai noodle factory closes down just in case! Chatpate is actually made out of Puff rice and some crunchy fried beaten rice with potatoes and fresh green crunchy vegetables with mixed masalas! Momo should be just steamed with chutney if it's authentic flavour. These days they just wants to infuse with different styles and flavours. Some day there'll be apple , orange or even potato momo! You never knows!!
