    2:38 fantastic door stop. Sounds more expensive than second hand stores in U.S., certainly more than Facebook Marketplace.

      Everything is more expensive on the Baja Peninsula compared to mainland Mexico. We are like an island out here. But yes - they often buy at Goodwill in the US, bring it south and mark it up.
      Our best buy ever was a bath tray. They sell for $40-50 in the US and we got it for $2 at a segunda. But only under the condition that we tell them what it was. They had no idea! Most people in Mexico don't have bathtubs. amzn.to/3IgbivE

    Holy moly! I wasn't expecting thrift store furniture to be so pricey! Oof! The bed set that Brighton asked about would have been no more than $250 at any of the local thrift shops in my small southwestern Ontario town.

      There are about 20 in one area: maps.app.goo.gl/8WkV7GCbCn584U8r7?g_st=ic
      In Cabo I’ve seen them spread out. But there’s at least a dozen. Google segunda and you’ll find them.

    The correct word is...Segunda with an "A" at the end.

    even as recently as 5 years ago i'd never seen a second hand store anywhere on the Baja....we are staying in El Pescadero and there aren't any brick & mortar stores, however they are popping up under awnings...2-3 show up on a weekly basis. We are looking for a cooler and plan to check them out. I've seen some things that tourists would buy (beach chairs/sun tent/umbrellas) and I am wondering if a tourist traded some items as they were leaving town for something else (barter) or if they sold them to the vendor. I will find out!

    • @AlmostRetiredinMexico

      Great question! I wonder if tourists leave stuff behind at their hotel and then hotel staff sells them to the segundas. That would be efficient!
      I found a number of segundas in Guerrero Negro.

    That is absolutely impressive! I had no idea big second hand markets existed in Mexico! And i'm a native! I'm really dying for a fancy dinner table set, they're so gorgeous. I'm giving it a second watch to see if I find something interesting in the background :D. do they have a website or facebook so I can get in touch with them? I might have missed it sorry, I wonder if they can deliver to my town...

      Hmmm... I never asked about delivery. That's a great question. I'm guessing you can buy anything fo the right price.
      As to social media and websites - I've never seen any signs for them. Websites aren't super common. I couldn't find many on FB either. Here is one that lists prices (but only for a limited amount of merchandise.) Best of luck! facebook.com/segundayoly

      @AlmostRetiredinMexico  7 месяцев назад +2

      Nugget is happy. We took her to the vet down here and he audibly gasped when he saw her wound. And he said she needed surgery. We sent photos to her "veterinary team" back home and they said, "it's healing nicely." And they said they wouldn't recommend any surgery for Nugget because she has such problems healing. We are going with the US team's answer for now. And they can see her in person in a couple months.
      But she's playing with the puppies once in a while - so she's feeling good.
      Thanks for asking.
