Vidal Sassoon!!! OMG... For those who do not know, he was the most famous hairdresser in the 60s, 70s & 80s. Brighton, whoever did your closed captioning screwed this up big time... I had to go back and listen to figure out some things she said actually fyi. It was obviously meant for her to meet Jamie and start that school. What an amazing story. I so enjoyed Zaida's story!!!! It is so beneficial to be bilingual in Mexico for the locals especially. More of these stories please!!! 💖
This was a fabulous video Brighton, thank you. I admire those who give back and also share their talent. I'm an executive assistant, so I could organize schedules, coord logistics, oversee work plans, human resources, finance, manage facilities and book travel 😊 It's the type of job/career where you wear many hats 😅 I am also a former volunteer at a long term care home and pediatric hospital. I also have rescued and/or fostered 23 feral kittens and cats 🐈 I love working with a purpose. ❤
Hi ! That is incredible story . I’m a hairstylist and colour tech . I’m coming to Mazetlan on Dec . I would love to help people and can teach them free as well . I can’t just retire and do nothing . I would love have a contact with Zaida
Such a wonderful video with actionable suggestions. Zaida and Pastor Jamee truly exemplify what and how we can contribute during our travels. I volunteer at my local elementary school. I have previously volunteered while being a tourist in Oaxaca. This coming January and February I plan to be in La Paz. Would love to have Brighton and Kat host an Almost Retired in Mexico group get together to meet up with local service providers that are welcoming volunteers.
Zaida has a wonderful story, I could never be as brave as she was leaving home at age 14! Her desire to give back to the community seems to be part of her, and how she is changing the lives of these mostly young women is admirable.
What a lovely story! It's great that some folks can create a "church" without too many "rules" I am not a church goer, however about 15 years ago I found a book called "The Purpose Driven Life" and before I had even read the second chapter I noticed a seminar using that book as a guideline for being more purpose driven. I went about once a week for 6 weeks or so and met some really neat people, many were professionals looking to give back to the community. I guess this story resonated with me due to that little bit. Thank you for sharing another great story! Kindness always brings such Joy!
I am a Master Pedicurist and Nail Technician......teaching my trade for free is something i would love to do. We are currently starting to visit central mexico and in the next 5 years plan to start Snowbirding. What a wonderful idea to help educate local persons while living part time in their towns and villages. Thank you for this video i loved it❤
Thank you again, Brighton, for another great video. What an inspiration you are with your videos and Zaida with her passion for cutting hair. We're all endowed with some sort of gift (whether we know it or not). Let this be a reminder to use it to connect with people and become a relevant member of the community:)
Oh dear no, not Winnipeg. I lived there 10 years and it's one of the coldest places in Canada. I would love to teach sewing and English when I move to Mexico. I do need to learn more Spanish though. What wonderful work she does. ☺♥
I volunteer with teenage girls at the Casa Cuna orphanage in LaPaz. Those children will need a skill when they age out of the orphanage. Please contact them.
What a wonderful lady. Even though she's from Winnipeg (lol) and yes I've been there. Wonderful people and nature that can eat you or freeze you. Sorry It's like a pastime to pick on "Windypeg" when you are from anywhere else. I could teach basic skills i.e. Driving (trucks), welding, carpentry & wiring. But these days I religiously practice being retired. And I'm trying to get good at it. On the other hand there is my wife and very best friend who was an English teacher. She runs trivia nights for the local seniors home as well as the hospital. She's on the board of directors for a teachers pension and just raised app $8 grand to by special chairs for the hospital through that teachers pension group. Her trivia nights raise thousands of dollars for the Seniors home each time. I like to fish or garden by garden I mean cut 4 acres of grass. Right now I'm rebuilding my front deck (app 8 X14 ft.) When I'm not doing that I build utility trailers. We even have deer and humming birds that literally visit. So I'm failing at my retirement lol. In short I would say if and when you can Pay it forward. Maybe in your new home town in Mexico. Another good one Mr. B. P n D
I will be looking for other ways to give back. As a retired clinical laboratory scientist, there's nothing I could really share. I will have to draw on other interests and skills.
I live in Texas I'm retired thinking about moving to La Paz what is the best places to live and how is the medical there that's a very big concern to me what's your videos and I like them and just about got me hooked on moving to Mexico do you like I really like the La Paz area help if you can
Best place to live…. All depends on what you’re looking for. If you have a million dollars in your pocket, Pedregal. If you want to be in the middle of the activity, Esterito. For bigger lots and pools, Centenario. Medical is great in La Paz.
What's "WOKE" . Other than a battle cry for those that don't know what they're complaining about. Like the idiot that may have destroyed his Harley because (in his opinion) has become too woke. Weird.

You are so welcome! I agree that we all have gifts - just need to figure out how to use them well.

Thanks for your interest in our program, your donation supplies would be much appreciated 🙏. Where are you and how can I accommodate you.

There are lots of ways you can volunteer- but I think you’re right that they probably don’t involve lab work ;-)

Boy has it gotten expensive. But it's the new government that is making us nervous. It's very scary now. Be careful things are changing.
