Actually the new console studio is very profesional and competent, after they replaced it after the month we got wards and friends and they came with tiny bugs thats suprisingly were patched in 2 weeks not 8 months. Thats improvment.

This has taken so long! I was a late starter on CK3, I’ve played and dropped it a couple of times and had a huge break. And only now have they finally released another start date! Paradox are lucky there’s some amazing modders out there that kept this game fresh for so long!
Confused noob here. Wouldn't the 1178 start date be centered around the Third Crusade as it is between the Second(1147-1150) and Third(1189-1192) Crusades? The Fourth Crusade didn't happen until 1202 and the Sack of Constantinople was in 1204.

Hoi4 historical focuses means countries will take the focuses they did irl, ie Germany will remilitarise the rhineland, the Soviets will stick with stalin etc. Ck3 does not have focus trees. not to mention hoi4 has a very small amount of independent actors those being the nations that existed in 1936, whereas ck3 has thousands of rulers.
If you don't like any of the landless, and don't want to make your own adventurer you could select any landed duke or count and have them decide they'd rather have an adventuer's life. You could even finagle your way into having a king or emperor abdicate (or become unhanded some other way) and be an adventuring king or emperor.
I created the Outremer empire starting as Baudouin and it was though, I have some tips for anyone who wants to try. - Saladin *will* attack you, you start with plenty of gold. Increase your crossbowman and buy skirmishers. From what I remember his army is levies and special heavy infantry, buy those for counters. Adding the holy order you should gather around 9-11k to his 15 or however much he has. Sit tightly on a castle will buildings with bonuses for defence, only fight him on defensive places and you should win fights despite overwhelming numbers. -Succession- Your heir is your sister, her son is not of your dynasty. You have to matrilineally marry your sister to one of your knights, as well as kill her son. The thing is, her son quickly inherits some land in the HRE and gets out of your diplomatic range, I suggest trying to murder plot him literally as the game starts.... or yknow imprison him and execute. If you don't do this, he gets Jerusalem. -At this point there's a chance the Byzantine Empire isn't there any more, I conquered a county in Sicily to have the diplomatic range for alliances with the big European countries, you will need their 15-20k armies because Saladin will attack again and you might be caught off when fighting someone else (or just need to fight him for Syria) Hungary, Poland, HRE. Get those allies. Alternatively if you miss the window to kill your sisters son, this will allow you to also get him within your range. -From there it should be smooth sailing, go learning health lifestyle and maybe your Baudouin will live until 67 like mine. At some point use your steward to get jerusalems culture to change to French, diverge culture, then add By the sword tradition for obvious reasons. There : )
I wpuld suggest if u want harder start, you have Serbian Holy Dynasty Nemanjić in Rashka. It is perfect if u want to struggle because in 1190. You will become Byzantine vassal, so you can fight inside realm for other Serbian territories in order to form Kingdom as King Stefan Nemanjić The First Crowned. There you need to fight for your independence, also remember your brpther Rastko need to become Saint and create Serbian Orthodox Church, tjere is quite easly to send him to join Priesthood. And dont forget you have your brother Vukan to defeat for throne. Good luck.
The new characters the start date introduces are so fuckin sweet. They definitely picked the best start date. You can even become many different non landed historic figures like Marco Polo if you’re the liege of their homelands too. Very kickass DLC. I do hope that someday we get a Charlemagne DLC or maybe even an earlier start date like directly after the prophet Muhammad’s death (as Pdox will NOT EVER include him in any way for obvious reasons) to get something completely new to CK and Pdox games in general. That, or I hope they expand the map to include East Asia as playing Marco Polo doesn’t feel complete currently
Also, even if they don’t add anything new (though that would be nice) they seriously need to expand choices for custom religion there’s not enough in the game at present in my opinion. Especially the symbols, we need greater variety, and I’d like it if they added some unique hybrid cultures for scenarios that the games start dates allow for. Like what if the danelaw stuck around? Custom Norse-Anglo culture, what if the Norwegians won the throne of England and kept it in 1066? Norwegian Anglo, what if the English kept western France? Custom English-French culture. That sort of thing, and that’s only focused on the England region. I know you can already do your own culture, but it’d be cool if unique name lists and such were though up for each of these possibilities to add some alt-history flair to things
And, some more anachronistic religions would be nice. They don’t even have the hussites in despite them existing within the games timeframe. A new event chain would fit the new late start date well, and with the ability to play landless characters that appear, playable Jan Hus would be fun. Some older religions would make sense too, earlier start or otherwise. Like the Hellenic’s, there were pagan holdouts in places like Britain and Ireland close to the time of the game
@Snap Strategy By playing viking for a long time, I reached the year 1000 at the empire level. Before, I reformed the religion and changed the culture, there was no problem. But as soon as I enter the years 999-1000, my RAID feature disappears. And I'm very curious why. I would be very happy if someone who knows please write the reason.
100ad I feel like we should have gotten a game back in and a few other areas 600 ad is good 580 what I want is a game to link up imperial to Rome with the rest of the series and that should be a test that's important because no one made a grand strategy game about the early Islamic expansion
