It is a very wonderful movie. They have it for free on RUclips and Amazon Prime if you'd care to watch it. I am a film critic and I would HIGHLY recommend this one. Danny Kaye is PERFECT as this beloved storyteller.

I wish that one day Hollywood will adapt the story of Hans Andersen, and Nicolas Cage should play this legendary fiction writer.

I wonder how they could make a movie who was such a legendary bore. Charles Dickens daughters told in an interview how H.C. Anderson was impossible to get rid off, would stay for several weeks and understood no social cues.

theatrical tricks. No, they don't actually strike each other hard. The forceful sound is added later.

No he didn't HIT her. They SLAPPED eachother. I am glad it was only ACTING, such was turning on the drama back in those days of motion pictures 🙂

Did the PC media stop showing these because of their theme.. I'm sure some Liberals moaned about these films back in the 1980's ?

What, exactly, do you think the left would oppose this film over? You're a fanatic when it comes to assuming everything is the big bad liberal's fault.

most movies from 1952 are not "shown" any longer ... haven't you noticed, dullard?
