    The minotaur looking dude is from a race called the Tauren. They're like huge bulls.
    What made this so emotional for anyone who has been a long time warcraft player and fan, is that this harkens back to the original warcraft, with Horde vs Alliance.
    Up until now, there has been unsteady agreements between the Horde and Alliance.
    When Sylvanas screamed "For the Horde!" I couldn't help but get amped up as well.
    The young kind, Anduin, is the King or the Alliance, and the spell he did was mass rez, which resurrects multiple dead allies back to life.
    The attention to detail on his face during the spell is so next level, it makes you really wish they'd do an entire series on Netflix or something with this detail to tell the story from the beginning.
    The nerd in me got emotional during this video.
    The last scene with the Orc jumping to attack the Footman soldier was similar to the cover they had for Warcraft 3, which was a huge foundation to the origins of World of Warcraft, way back in 2005.
    There's really no "evil" and "good" here. Both factions have their leaders/characters who want the best for their faction and/or people.

    Much like real life, neither side has the monopoly on good or evil. There are good and bad people on both sides. Saurfang and Zekhan (the troll boy) are both good, Anduin (blonde king) is good (Genn Graymane the 'wolf guy' is good, but has justifiable reasons for hating Sylvanas (the undead elf woman) even *before* she gave the order to torch the giant tree/island and murdered thousands of innocent people (which is why the Alliance is attacking the city). Really the only truly evil person (and you'll have a bunch of her fans who will deny this and will try to say anything to justify her actions) is Sylvanas.

    • @MetalKazuo
      @MetalKazuo 4 года назад

      Totally agree

    • @margisama
      @margisama 4 года назад +1

      @Hauke Holst 1) The person who gave the order to actually attack in Stormheim was Sky Admiral Rogers, and canonically Stormheim happens after the Alliance recovered intelligence off the Forsaken in Azsuna and knew Sylvanas was up to something that had nothing to do with stopping the Legion. And it turns out, what do you know? He was right, she was trying to enslave Eyir to ensure immortality for herself. 2) Genn was racist towards undead...though really undead are not a 'race' so it's not really racist to hate them (and I say this as someone who mains undead since vanilla). Humans in general have a reason to be distrustful of undead, especially humans who survived the Scourge decimation of Lordaeron. But Genn has a personal (very logical) reason to have hated the Forsaken. They invaded his kingdom unprovoked, killed and enslaved his people, and their queen personally killed his son in the process of attempting to murder *him*. So yeah, he has every right to hate Sylvanas. And if you'd bothered to read Before the Storm (though granted it doesn't paint Sylvanas in such a good light either), he ADMITTED that not all undead were evil and that he was wrong to hate all of them, so you know, something called character growth...something Sylvanas sorely is lacking in recent writing other than cartoonishly evil villain.

    Guys, this video means so much to a wow player or to the lore fanatics. Varok Saurfang( that big green orc) is THE veteran among all characters in WoW lore. He is all about an honor. He wants to die honourably in fight so he doesn't have to suffer all the bad things in the world that are happening and cos the Horde he used to serve is not same anymore. He doesn't have anything to live for anymore. But The Troll(blue tusky guy) ,we call Zappy Boi, just gave him a bit of reason to keep fighting cos he reminds him what his son was doing, fighting for good and for THE true HORDE ! And that black lady with bow is called Sylvanas, The leader of Undead(on of the Horde faction) and as well leader of the Horde at that time you are watching it. She made The Horde kinda evil and do bad things !!!

    Yall... this was super fun to watch, I'm bouncing in my seat, shouting about what's about to come. To answer your questions about who the good and bad guys are... oof, that would take hours of nuance and digging through lore that has been written, retconned, rewritten, then twisted around into a pretzel over decades. The tl;dr of it is there... really isn't a clear answer. It's a setting that is ravaged by war and motivated by vengeance. And you could talk to twenty different WoW players and come away with twenty different answers. Still cool to watch you folks react to some of my favorite cinematics of all time, and I'm glad to see that even without knowing the backstory, you were able to come away with a good grasp of the gist of it all.
    *And for other WoW players commenting - I'm a loyalist until Shadowlands crushes my hopes and dreams, so I don't flat out agree with saying Sylvanas is the bad guy, regardless of the mess of Teldrassil. I hope there's more lore coming down the pipeline explaining what the heck she was thinking, and if she ends up as a raid boss, I will quietly put down my Forsaken banner and slink away into fix it fics.

    The races we saw were troll (the blue guy with the tusks), blood elf (the woman leader), orc (the big green dude), tauren (the one that looked like a minotaur), werewolf, human, and dwarf.
    There is no good or bad side. You can play for either the horde (the faction led by the blood elf woman) or the alliance (led by the human).
    The first trailer was showing the Chieftain of the orcs, Saurfang, ultimately recommitting to the horde. The second trailer shows the battle for Azeroth (which is the name of the planet the game takes place on) between the horde and the alliance.
    The blood elf leader is named Sylvanas, and she is a banshee queen (not a devil/demon woman). The human king is Prince Anduin, the leader of the alliance. The werewolf is Greymane, one of the captains for the alliance, and Anduin's confidante.
    The games shows various classes (e.g., types of roles you can play). We saw warriors, paladins, shaman, and hunters for the most part. The troll was a shaman, Anduin was a paladin, Saurfang and Greymane were warriors.
    You're right; there's a lot of lore that happened before these trailers for this expansion of the game (which was first launched in 2004, I believe). But for the first trailer, it's important to know that the giant burning tree we see flashes of is Teldrassil, home of the night elves (which weren't really featured in either trailer). It also meant the destruction of a World Tree, which is sort of a portal to another dimension called the Emerald Dream. (There are a few of these World Trees throughout Azeroth, and each has a sort of mystical power.)
    Hope that gives some context on what you were seeing. Glad you watched these! Aren't they beautiful?

The elf is Sylvanas Windrunner she is/was Warchief of the Horde, she is a undead high elf( a banshee) as of the conclusion of this expansion she is a villian. She commited so many horrific crimes like the near genocide of the night elves. The worgen (werewolf) is King Genn Greymane of Gilneas (Sylvanas laid seige to his country during a natural disaster and killed his son). The Lady Elf there, Sylvanas Windrunner, is Undead and she's pretty evil but the Horde isn't evil really and neither is the Alliance .... they're just unable to see eye to eye and often misunderstand each other which cause the wars and such ... it's a pretty complicated story really! But it's pretty awesome!
    The Wolf Guy (His Name is King Genn Greymane) is Worgen (Werewolf) and the young King, Anduin Wrynn, is the leader of the Alliance and a Priest who can use the light to heal people
    Green dude is an Orc, and the blue guy is a Troll! And the Minotaur is a guy from a race called the Tauren! There are lots of really neat races in the game on both sides!

    Good & evil between the Horde & the Alliance like you mentioned earlier in the video, is all a matter of perspective.
    I play on the Horde side, there are things we have done that can be considered both good & evil at times, but so has the Alliance.
    But there have also been times when we have had to work together, either by force or for a common goal to protect the world in which we all reside on.

    To answer your question about good and evil without a deep lore dive. Neither side is the good side or the bad side. In Warcraft the two factions, the Horde and the Alliance, both have heroes and villains. They have both done heroic deeds and committed horrible atrocities against one another. As neither side can fully forgive or trust the other for past war crimes they always find a reason to go to war again and again. "Ours is a cycle of Hatred" was the opening quote to that cinematic and it pretty much sums up the game.

    In a nutshell (contains spoilers!),
    there's noone completely good or evil, but soon after this battle we can see Anduin (the human king) forging an alliance with Varok Saurfang (big old orc) to dethrone Sylvanas (devil woman) and stop the war, since she's the one who wanted to start it and keep it going. In the end, we understand that the only evil one is Sylvanas, who has her personal agenda and the war is just instrumental to achieve her goal.

    Mists Of Pandaria
    Warlords of Draenor

    Its not a good vs evil sort of thing well not at the time anyway, that woman is sylvanas and was the leader of the horde, but later on you find out she had alternative motives. Both sides are "neutral" as the player picks their side based on what race they play in game so both sides are the good guys from the players perspective depending on their choice.

  • @raegorz
    @raegorz 4 года назад

    Essentially, the Horde and the Alliance are two factions who are unfortunately stuck in a complicated situation. There's potential for good and evil on all sides. The Horde is usually seen as the misfits, usually involved in not so good stuff. The Alliance on the other hand are seen as the good guys, but there's been plenty of evildoers on both sides. Really it's a fight of Good vs Evil within in each faction and how easily the masses are corrupted by perception over truth. In that sense, it hits home personally for a lot of us who are judged on our ideals or our looks. The reality is, we're all very complicated and unique and we're in a constant clash. World of Warcraft is just that...except from many different perspectives depending on the race and faction you choose. It's a fantastic game and one that's been going strong for over 15 years now. This particular expansion tells the story of the 4th War. Varok Saurfang (the Orc from the first trailer you watched) has been around for years, like a second in command for the Warchief of the Horde. This expansion tells us more about his personal feelings with some of the dishonerable things he's done for The Horde. It's a great story about how far we go for what we believe and how long our humanity can last before it breaks. Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. You guys popped up in my recommendations and you seem cool!

  • @Sinvare
    @Sinvare 4 года назад

    The history of the games somewhat explains the world. It was "Warcraft Orcs and Humans" which I think was Humans good and Orcs are bad barbarians.
    Warcraft 2 Tides of Darkness added Elves, Dwarves and Gnomes to Humans to get the Alliance. This is sort of the Tolkien or D&D style "good" races. Trolls, Goblins, Orgres joined the orcs to get the Horde. These are sort of the Tolkien or D&D "evil" races.
    Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal put home that the orcs were invaders from a foreign world that was being destroyed, so they were forced to flee to save their people and that clashed with the Human lands the portal opened into.
    From there forward the factions were increasingly Grey and mixed with good and evil people in both factions. The lore is more interesting to me as it drifted away from the pure Tolkien "Good v Evil", especially starting with the Campaign Story in Warcraft 3.
    In the Warcraft & Warcraft 2 campaigns you played one side or the other and the campaigns end differently depending on the side you picked. The Warcraft 3 campaign started with Humans, then moved through the other 3 races pushing a larger narrative forward including having you face off against heroes you had controlled in the earlier campaigns.

    I'm sure it's long since been said but, maybe I can say it more simply. Horde is red team and Alliance is blue team. It's not so much good versus evil as it is savage versus civilized or even white collar versus blue collar, in a way. The Horde is undead and beastly races. Alliance is humans, elves, dwarves, etc. It's called "World of Warcraft" because the entire world is locked into a never ending cycle of wars. Also because Warcraft is a brand of games that dates back to the early 90's.
    If you want to know who's "more good" it's the Alliance. Blondie and his pet wolf man. You guys probably know way more by now but, I hope this helps. :)

    The tree from the first cinematic was more than just a home for the elves, Here's a copy/paste from wiki ::
    The tree was grown from a single acorn of the recently lost Mother Tree, G'Hanir, by the great dragon Alexstrasza in the waters of the newly reborn Well of Eternity on the sacred Mount Hyjal. After that she blessed the tree with strength and vitality, which also extended the night elves. Ysera's blessing upon the tree bound it and the elven druids to the Emerald Dream, allowing them to enter her realm freely where before it required difficult meditation.[3] But the most important blessing came from Nozdormu, which ensured that so long as the tree existed the night elves would remain immortal. This would ensure that even the most corrupt of night elves would be drawn to protect the tree.

      The World of Warcraft movie, when it was announced, held a lot of hope for a lot of people. We all hoped it would be a two and a half hour long Blizzard quality cinematic. What we got was a live action / CGI mix because the studio and producers wanted real actors they could bank on in the future and turn into a cash crop.
      The movie we got wasn't "completely" terrible, it was entertaining, but it was a far sad cry from what it could have been.

It's not a 5/5 of course but a 2-3/5 its too low imo. Why they dont animate all the characters? Because it cost's lot of time. I hate if people talkin about sh%t they not even know about.

    this would make more sense if you watched all the cinematics leading up to this point. Her character is the Banshee Queen, His character is the King of the Alliance he is technically a priest (class) but he is trying to take up the mantle of his father who was more or less a paladin. So he uses "holy" magic....liek i said this would all make more sense if you watched all the WoW cinematics from like start to finish. This way you don't actually have to play the game and you still get the point of the story.

    Sylvanas the high elf/undead/banshee archer burned Teldrassil which is the city of the Night Elves who is a race of the alliance and did other evil things. So now the alliance and the horde are going to teach her a lesson. Theres no evil and good in warcraft, every faction has its own way of living and acting. The blonde Brad Pitt guy is called Anduin Wrynn the current High King of the Alliance, he is a priest thus the light powers who can heal his entire army, and he's the son of Varian Wrynn the guy who appears in the Legion cinematic. The green big guy is an Orc called Varok Saurfang, he is the High Overlord of the Horde kinda like firstmate, Sylvanas being the Warchief same position as Anduin for their faction. There are a lot of other cinematics which was release after this two and they tell a little more of whats going on right now in World of Warcraft

  • @SoulessStranger
    @SoulessStranger 4 года назад

    Would just like to point out, as others probably have, that these cinematics do not show the Alliance side of the conflict and the logic behind the attack. I would honestly recommend watching the Warbringers cinematics to understand the drive behind the narrative. The Alliance in this case is retaliating after Sylvanas and the Horde soldiers she manipulated into it, invaded the Kaldorei (night elves) home land tore through their lands - desecrated and plagued their forests and ultimately burned down a whole main capitol - a giant tree with villages and their main city Darnassus on it. There were thousands of civilians burning, children even, who were all torched to death with those who managed to escape by jumping or on boats being ordered to be slaughtered on the shores by the Horde soldiers. It was this act of genocide that drove King Anduin and the Alliance to attack Undercity (formerly Lordaeron). And even then in the game it is actually Sylvanas who destroys the city. In the face of defeat she blights and ressurects the Horde soldiers who fought for her into mindless undead and ultimately plagues the whole city so that the Alliance won't get the victory, killing many of the Horde soldiers still within. She is the ultimate evil thought I would say personally that the soldiers who blindly followed her and participated in the atrocities are equally to be blamed.
    People will often say both Alliance and Horde are neither good or evil, in some sense it is true, though I would say that the Horde had committed more crimes. They bombed an entire city with a mana bomb (a fantasy equivalent of a nuke), they blighted alliance settlements. When the Alliance soldiers fought off the sort of neutral undead (global threat) the Horde charge into their ranks from the back to slaughter them instead of helping, they bombed a school for young elven druids, killing the students there, they aimed to corrupt a heart of a forest which resulted in terrible destruction and loss of life not to mention all the druids in that forest were turned into mindless aberrations. Their lumbering and oil mining operations are stripping and polluting the land where they set foot. Granted not all races of the Horde are on board with this, but most certainly are.
