Cayman Belizeans celebrate Garifuna Settlement day

The melting pot of rich cultures that exist within Belize was brought to life in Prospect last Saturday night.
Belizeans who have adopted the Cayman Islands as their home came together in prayer as well as lively festivities to celebrate Garifuna Settlement Day in their native country.
Of the many cultures and ethnic groups that make up the identity of Belize, none is more synonymous to November than the Garifuna (also known as Garinagu) culture. An annual celebration held in Belize on 19 Nov., and a public and bank holiday, this day signals their arrival to the southern shores of Belize almost four centuries ago.
