    Love my 10.5 have used it for brewing and have even left the mash in it and fermented on the grain. Distilling has been a real treat using both Alco engine still heads. Though I have numerous kettles and fermenters I'm going to get another Anvil Foundry because 1 is no longer enough. Thanks for such a high quality and versatile product.

    After brewing outdoors with propane all summer long in the disgusting SE heat and humidity, moving to this system has been a game changer for me. Even if you forgo the malt pipe and just run a BIAB and a false bottom, you still get electronic heating, easy temp control and recirc for a decent price. I love mine and have already brewed 5 batches on the new system. I love the new screen location and the 240v capacity out of the box. Brewing on 240v is another game changer BTW.

    Have had an AF 10.5 for about two years now and still love it. 1. It's fun to mod with things like the Clawhammer spray valve for better recirculation. 2. Highly recommend getting a grain bag. Get the small one for inside the grain basket or ditch the grain basket for a larger grain bag if you have a hoist. 3. It is a gateway to larger systems like the Clawhammer Supply 20 gallon.

    Gen 1 Anvil 10.5 still going strong. Probably have 50 brews thru it and I did switch over to full BIAB and ditched the tube. Kind of upgraded my pump to a Riptide so things progress nicely on brew day. Still using 120 but I love the beers I make so no need to change.

    Have been using the Gen 2 10.5 foundry on 240V for a couple years. It's awesome. Screen upgrade and the false bottom are clutch. I installed the clawhammer BIAB spray in the top of the lid and use a bag in my malt pipe. The pumps Anvil provides are garbage. Burned through a few of them. Eventually caved and got a rip tide and makes whirlpooling and chilling amazing. Love the system all in all. Highly recommend.

    I have one of the first design 10.5 with the screen on the bottom. I started having problems with it after 1 1/2 years or so. Sometimes it will not power on. I called them for support and did what they recommended, which was to reseat all the plugs under the screen and under the bottom of the unit. Didn't fix it though. They told me I was out of luck because they didn't make the screen any longer. After a couple more failed brew days I upgraded to the Clawhammer system and haven't regretted it. Emmit is amazing when it comes to customer support. Is it more $$$? Yep. Is it worth it? 100% YES, if you want to be in the electric brewing side of the hobby.

    I've got one that's just before this. Came as 120v by default and gotta rewire it.
    My biggest complaint with the pump has been dialing in the flow rate. Too high and you'll overflow the grain basket. Too low and instead of widely dispersing it just keeps dropping into the same spot.
    If nothing else, having the pump means that transfers are super easy. Gotta love that anvil makes all the parts available for a reasonable cost so if you want to change stuff you mostly can.

    I've been brewing on the Foundry for close to 3 years now. The only thing I don't like about the grain basket hooks they added is that it makes it hard to see volume markers when sparging. Other than that, it's a great system.

  • @ffwast
    @ffwast Год назад +2

    My foundry is somewhere in between,screen on top and coin-shaped false bottom as the only holes with the 120v plug(Which personally I prefer,there's like half a dozen types of 240v plug and the new model comes with the wrong one for me so I'd have to cut it up anyways while I can just plug my older one into an adapter,bad design change)
    I heard the pump they come with is prone to failure so I got a riptide instead,but after a while I just started doing brew in a bag and batch sparging to not have all that faffing around with malt pipes and recirculating.

  • @mpc7084

    I have about 45 brews on mine - a little older version. I tested with the pipe and with a bag (no pipe). Bag and no pipe got me better effeciency.......4-8% better. Pump died after about 35 brews. It can't handle much hops so you need to use a bag or spider. At that price point I just got another Anvil pump but may upgrade someday.

    10.5gal AIO is a great system for me(prior version)for cool weather brewing here in the North East. I like the new false bottom though .Get around that cleaning mess by using a grain bag. Efficiency for me is about 68-70% which is fine. System handles about 14# of grain with ease,mostly brew 5 gallon batches. I love the way you can dial in temp and it holds. Sparging is a breeze. definitely get the pump /recirc set up. The cooling coil alone is worth the upgrade.

    I’ve had the foundry for about 2 years and have had no problems with it. I did do the clawhammer spray valve mod that yeast and the beast did to up my efficiency and I added quick disconnects to all my hoses. I really don’t like the immersion chiller it comes with as it takes 20+ minutes to get it below 80 degrees with cool ground water and lots of stirring. But I just picked up a 30 layer plate chiller but haven’t tried it out yet.

    • @FrankGenoBruno

Trust me, my home-brew club has had only positive things today about my beer. I just bought the steam condenser and will be trying that out on a Marzen this weekend.

  • @riley12c
    @riley12c Год назад +1

    I have the Anvil Foundry 6.5 gallon. Works great, make sure to always check the spigot is on tight enough or water (obviously) leaks, but it also will leak between the walls and get their wires/ circuit board wet. You'll have to take it apart to let it dry. I've never used the circulation kit because I'm newer to this all, but I'll try probably the next time.
    I'm tempted to get this bc I've been putting 15 pounds of grain into mine (which is only supposed to hold 8 pounds, because I'm making a higher abv beer. Stinks only ending up with 2 gallons of beer, so the bigger one would help with that.
    All in all satisfied with the product. Takes about an hour to heat up to 160 degrees, but can take as little as 30 minutes if its hot and sunny outside! FYI I use 120v!

    I mean if you were comparing it to say a brew in a bag system then I could see the positives but this system is more expensive than its robobrew counterpart which at the anvil price point is their 65 litre version and the robobrew has all those extras included without having to muck around with cutting pipes etc just to get the recirc working..... The anvil also looks clunkly and its inferior to the wider robobrew 65l version which maximises surface area over the narrow 35l versions results in a lot less stuck mashes as well as improved efficiencies. If I couldn't get my hands on the robobrew then I get I would put up with the anvil? Maybe clawhammer? Dunno, neither are anywhere near as good as the robobrew 65l and based on your video it's probably even cheaper, well it is here in Australia anyway.

    Your voice sounds different for some reason. Idk if you used a new microphone, got over a recent illness, or have been replaced by a cyborg. Either way, I've got my eye on you.

    Braa, I'll stick with my $8 BIAB, $40 keggle and $16 plastic bucket. Spend the other $500 on recipes. Damn, it feels good. I am one cheap MoFo. We're talking about beer, not rocket science.

    Happy to see the improvements, The mash basket upgrades are much needed... My mash basket is jacked... I wish they'd sell replacement mash basket. The screen removal is really cool too.
