Beautiful piece of wall art. Turned out fine with the white chalk paint. Little things like that are usually pretty easy to fix. Just a thought you might like to try some time is to leave gaps between some the boards and place some sort of light behind the piece. I've seen some these builds using color changing LED light strips. I liked those too. Yours is fine as is though. I'd be happy to have it on my wall.
Thanks thanks for talking me thru it.. P.s. My son has been listening to self improvement books..and getting mentoring from prosperous folks in many ares of life.. You said earlier that the sheen choice was a bad decision.. don't say bad ..but say ..it wasn't the best decision.... ..thanks for showing how to correct it..I'm subscribing
The wall art you created looks so Native American to me, wonderful choose of designs. You do many things well explaining how the wall art goes together from the tools you use to the finishes you use. One of the best things you do is let people know that you learn from mistakes during a project and how to overcome them.
Very nice work! I have been doing woodworking for over 30 years and thought I would view a few of these wood art videos to get some ideas. In addition to glue, pin nails/brads are an excellent way to insure the pieces do not come loose. Kudos to you for showing that you filled in the nails as all the other videos I watched either skipped this step or left the nails exposed.
I have just started trying my hand at wood barn Quilts and will shortly progress to bigger projects like this one. This was a great simple tutorial and it was nice to see you didn't edit out the bits of struggle along the way! Thanks for the great work and your piece turned out beautifully!
What an inspiration you are! Your instructions, voice tone and guide to tools was so very helpful. NEW SUBSCRIBER and will be back for much more! Thank you!
Great video. May I suggest, for the final cutting of the sign, to invest in some "bench dogs", and look at putting a system of peg holes in to your bench. A great way to easily clamp things to your workbench without using heaps of G clamps.
beautiful piece thank you for sharing. I'm a beginner, hoping to try my first wall piece . this is so gorgeous. I like it so much. your tutorial was full of information. being a beginner, I could follow along.
I used Elmer's Probond Wood Filler. I wouldn't normally buy it by the gallon 🤣 but I bought it for painting our house and the painter bought something else. Then I just sand and paint over it. Not sure if I mentioned but I don't use it on the stained boards as it'll not look right.
I unfortunately no. This wood isn’t the most high quality so I have to cut as I go or I find it doesn’t turn out. I bet if you used good wood with straight edges you could pre-cut them all.
Hi Shivam. The nice thing about these signs are that you can make them any size. So you could totally make one 2x1 ft. Just play with the design a bit and see what pattern you can fit in and what look you like best.
Great question Crystal. I just updated my description on this video with all the materials I used. I used a 2 ft x 4 ft sheet of 1/2” plywood. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Happy building 😀
I know they were cut at 45° but do you have the measurements? I dont have a saw and know home depot has a station to cut things or they will cut it for you. What are the different lengths you recommend cutting them?
I would love to have this information as well I don't have a saw I am wanting one badly what do you suggest again? It's hard to get those kind of information and it's very kind that you offer to help others be able to succeed and their work as well. You're amazing!
Very nice but I have to ask I am an admin Woodworker why did you use brads the glue would’ve been sufficient not to mention eliminated your problem. Thanks
That's a great question. I'd agree with you, glue should probably be enough but if it's a big wall piece or if I'm selling it I use the brads to make sure it's on good and tight for my peace of mind. 😀
Hi Stephannie, here is the link: homedepot.sjv.io/2vyKA also I believe it's around $30, I forgot that since I get 2 + projects out of a bundle I figure that wood is $15 per project. Hope that makes since, sorry for the confusion. Good luck on the build 😊
Great video, but if I can offer a critique, please change up the music every so often. A lot of people use the same stick music, and it gets annoying repeating so much.
The only problem I see with what you are doing here is that track saw set up you have. You cannot hold your saw straight and you are gonna have uneven edges. Try putting your saw on the wood that you are cutting.
A mitre saw and a brad nailer are not tools all beginners have. This is the first video I have seen for beginners that say you must have a mitre saw and brad nailer to start. Lovely art work thou.
If you aren't comfortable with power tools yet you could always use a miter box and saw for the cuts and a hammer and nails. If you're serious about getting into woodworking though I would recommend looking into the miter saw as it is used for most woodworking projects. Just a way to cut down your wood and get accurate cuts.
I have a big collection of firring strips that I keep on hand! 🤣. Not sure what they would cost me now. maybe I should have an auction! Thanks for commenting!!
Dopeness. Low budget, high yield builds are so sexy. Great design.
Thanks 😊

Great video! Simple and clear instructions and I like how you left in the mistakes as well as showing how to fix them.
Beginner here and want to try this… will have to try and make my new table saw and jig saw work for now.
Love this!!
Thanks Rose

Thanks Rob. Sometimes it's nice to have a fun project that doesn't break the bank huh? 🤣
Around the House That it is...
Great Job, I'm looking forward to trying this out. I will probably start with a smaller one just to get the hang of it. Thank you so very much
Hope your build goes well. Starting smaller is always a good idea for a first build. That’s what I did too. 😊

I love it and i have in may store
Soooo many design variations to make, soooo many colors to choose from, the sky is the limit.
Turned out nice.... good job.
So true, thanks for the comment 😀
I want to understand the the guides and blades you are using for circular saw. 😊
Good job

Your welcome Brian, hope I've inspired you to build one too 😊
Great job 👏
Thank you Lucinea 😀
So far the BESTEST channel for this art piece yet!! Great job!!😁😁😁
Thanks for the comment Benn 😊
Any one could make one of these and creat their own personal design and color scheme! Great job!
Thanks Ken. Yes, this sign could definitely be customized in many ways, great point. 😀
I'm a beginner and i love this what you did i want to try that i love it thank you.
You should definitely try it Albert and please let me know how it goes 😀

Indeed, you are a Real Artist. Thank you for sharing with me, and many others. It is inspiring. God bless you!!!
You are so welcome 😊
You are a pro love it. Seems like alot of work i just would buy it instead wish I knew who makes and sell
I totally understand, I see a lot of these on Etsy if you're looking to buy one.
Thank you
They are pricey on Etsy it is better to diy it 😀
Very nice 👍 ❤

I am going to try and attempt this today 😊
Yay! How did it go Britt? You'll have to send me a pic when you're done. Let me know if you have any questions along the way. 😀
Very amazing piece of art .... you are really talented and creative ... may God bless you forever 🙏🏼👍🏼
Thank for the thoughtful comment Riken. 😀
Around the House welcome 😃👍🏼
I would recommend using a tact cloth to clean up the dust instead of scrubbing & water next time :) Very cool project
So beautiful!!!!!! Love it!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Marvelous work
Thanks Tim 😀
Kewl... very nice results, thanks for sharing your talents with us.
You’re welcome 😊
Looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Love.
Great art work. The mural frame, if I had a 45-degree angle, it would have been nice for success
45’s on the frame would be a great look. 😀
This is a great video! Very helpful.... thank you for sharing ☺️
Thanks for watching! I'm working on a new one right now with a different design I'll share soon. 😊
Fantastic ! but i would not bother with the brad nails on top. its the glue that holds it in place.
Good tip!
I would love to have a drawing of that project with dimensions. Beautiful
Me too
@@marie-claudelavoie7382 I figured it out and made one. Easy. Thank you.
Jak zawsze kreatywnie👌. Pozdrawiam.
Dziękuję Ci 😀
Beautiful, looks great , you did a wonderful job!!!
Thanks so much Sarah 😊
Very cool project!
I might suggest you use a pin nailer rather than your Brad nailer, the hole is so small you really don’t even need to fill it
I think that’s a great tip Tom. Thanks so much for the comment
This is art!!
Thank you Mirko 😊
THIS TURNED OUT SO PRETTY!!!! (I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M YELLING ABOUT)
🤣 thank you
Wonderful work, 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Luis 😀
Gorgeous. And the artwork also.
Awe, thanks Daniel 😁
You make this look so easy and it turned out so beautiful ♥️ I really want to get started on projects like this!
Thanks Karena. You should totally make one. I'd love to see it when you're done. 😀
Perfect 👏👏👏

Great video! Thanks for the breakdown of steps. It’s really helpful! 👍🏻 Leftyswoodshop
Very welcome, thanks for the comment Kevin 😊
Hello. I love your job Could you tell me what is the mixture you use to cover holes. Thank you
I used Elmer's Probond Wood Filler. I wouldn't normally buy it by the gallon 🤣 but I bought it for painting our house and the painter bought something else. Then I just sand and paint over it. Not sure if I mentioned but I don't use it on the stained boards as it'll not look right.
Is there a tutorial on how you made the saw guide?
I unfortunately no. This wood isn’t the most high quality so I have to cut as I go or I find it doesn’t turn out. I bet if you used good wood with straight edges you could pre-cut them all.
@@AroundtheHouse Thank you
This is great work. Thank you for sharing this.
My pleasure! 😊
Nice Work... If you used a pin nailer (< $30.00 Harbor Freight) you wouldn't have any visible nail holes.
Where did you buy the lattice bundle?
I got it from Home Depot
Thank you so much
You're welcome 😀
Is there an app that I can download that will help me design the wood wall art?
Great question. I don’t know of any but maybe other viewers will comment if they know of one. I just look on Etsy or Pinterest for ideas
How do you attach the metal French cleat to the back of this piece ?
I use screws, but just make sure they aren't to thick or they will go through the sign.
Great job! Looks fantastic!
Thank you 😀
Do you need to use a Brad nailer? Or can you hammer the nails in?
What should be the sizes if I have to make it for 2ft length and 1ft width
Hi Shivam. The nice thing about these signs are that you can make them any size. So you could totally make one 2x1 ft. Just play with the design a bit and see what pattern you can fit in and what look you like best.
What color have u used?
I listed all the paint and stain colors in the video details. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'm happy to help 😊
Beautiful-- looks perfect to me.
Thank you 😀
Hey, you inspired me, to start making these works of art.
And one more subscriber, too.
Yay, thanks for the comment Fernando. Happy building 😀
What size and style Is the board underneath.?
Great question Crystal. I just updated my description on this video with all the materials I used. I used a 2 ft x 4 ft sheet of 1/2” plywood. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Happy building 😀
That DeWalt saw you got there cost well over $200... But yes, a miter saw is invaluable!
Where did you purchase lattice wood? At my hardware stores they only have pressure treated premade lattice privacy screens!
I get mine from Home Depot. Here's the link, maybe you can order it online or do in store pick-up homedepot.sjv.io/2vyKA
I know they were cut at 45° but do you have the measurements? I dont have a saw and know home depot has a station to cut things or they will cut it for you. What are the different lengths you recommend cutting them?
Hi Samantha, I'll try to get some measurements and list them on the blog soon.
@@AroundtheHouse Where can you get a bundle of lattice? Or what is a great substitution wood?
Where can I find your blog? I see that they are all cut to 45• but wanted to know the measurements to cut each piece to make the design. Thanks

I’m currently working on this same exact project but you’re going to need more than 13 ft of 1x2 wood
That’s fun, hope your build goes great. 😊
Where do you sell it?
Sadly I don’t sell my work, I just try to show others how to make things on RUclips.

What are the dimensions of the boards?

Is this piece for sale?
I've posted similar items on Etsy for two+ years and not one sale. Hmm. I gave up on these.
you dont need to use such expensive plywood. You could use 1/2 inch unsanded since its hanging on a wall to reduce weight and cost.
Good call Tyler, you’re totally right.
Oli made a head board like that for free with leftovers from work
I bet that looks so good. A piece of art for your bedroom, great idea.
🥰💯👍👍
Your miter saw is 1000 usd new, I don't know for used one how much you can get it but definitely not a lot cheaper
buy yourself a pin nailer usally go in unnoticed
Great tip James, thanks
