    Sorry for the focus, new setup means some growing pains. Just imagine me in your head 😎

    AFAIC, 2015 was the year of the GNU/Linux desktop. And I've never looked back.

      Glad to hear it :) what distro?

      @@RobertMizen As usual, I've distro hopped around over the years. Started with Mint cinnamon, then moved to more Arch based releases like Antergos.
      At some point in the story, I ended up swapping desktops from Cin to XFCE for it's lightness, and ease of configuration.
      All the while I'd spin up other distros and DE's in VM's to see what the differences were.
      For the last year or so, I've settled on Manjaro running KDE.
      Like some women, I always liked KDE's sexiness, but couldn't stand its high maintenance bugginess. ;-)
      But it looks like the KDE team has finally tamed the shrew!

      @@coolworx well that comment took an unexpected turn. But basically agree. Manjaro with KDE is my main. Probably gona try Endeavour on my framework when it arrives.

    I don't really know what to think or say tbh..
    Without Linux my servers would be gigantic CVEs open for exploits!
    For me it depends, I just game, surf, manage servers and switches, develop and try out new things.
    As far as If this is the year of **InsertWhateverYouFeelLike** I'd say that for me it is a yes.

      That’s good answer. It is what you make of it. For servers I couldn’t imagine anything but.

    How do I use a DVB-T/S/C tv card on Linux Desktop? What is the name of the software?

      Not sure. Don’t use one. But certainly an interesting adventure to find out 🧐

    Just give me HDR-support in linux and i will switch in a blink. Its the one thing missing for me.

    • @RobertMizen
      @RobertMizen  Год назад +4

      I can get by without it but it is being worked on.
      AMD has HDR on some gpus now for Linux. You can check some progress here:

    The only thing that made me switch back to windows was the inconvenience of using ms office applications including OneDrive + Nvidia sucks with Linux

    • @RobertMizen
      @RobertMizen  Год назад +2

      Nvidia is pretty good on PopOS. It’s got better but AMD Reign on Linux really.
      I use one drive for work. I use Only Office for the desktop applications and one drive as a network drive works fine. But only office is way smoother anyway than MS office.

    2023 no, Linux still for dorks

    • @RobertMizen
      @RobertMizen  Год назад +1

      Not for dorks. It powers most of the internet. But desktops it’s just got long way to go. (Both in its own development and systemic change in how schools and education buy systems so everyone isn’t just “grand fathered” in to Windows)
