I prefer Blast Off as a jet, although I think there should definitely be another Decepticon Space Shuttle (Other than Astrotrain). Not sure who to give it to though.
Hey, congratulations on your fatherhood! I like all of your customizations except for Vortex, who I think you made overly bland and the tailfin is incredibly mangled to boot. Maybe the original was a bit garish, but at least it had something going on with its deco. Still, that does not subtract from the awesomeness you gave everyone else, especially Brawl and Blastoff and of course Bruticus himself!
Haha fair enough. I kinda dig the look of vortex now, he's all G1 cartoon accurate now and such, which, yeah is kinda bland, and usually I'm all at figures for being bland, but idk, i kinda like it for this guy. But to each their own, of course And thank you and thank you = D
No way man. "Take off" is the best decision made in combiner wars. a combat shuttle was just plain stupid to begin with. And unite warriors blast off just looks super weird to me

+pikachu0Z dude, I know your being nice, but if you think what hes doing is good, then has bro needs to hire SteamShield on shapeways. Now HE is a good designer

Personally, I actually prefer the Bruticus shoulders in the original shot, where they're all hunched up and bulky. Fortunately, the Perfect Effects other upgrade kit for Bruticus includes guns that are even better suited to the task,

I really like most parts of this custom. You did a great job....I dunno about Vortex's tailfin, but the paint job rocks!! Also, Blast Off's new head ISSS totally the correct choice! Congrats by the way :)
you can take a hot spot figure and paint it the colors of onslaught and take the artillery pits and replaces them with hot spot's lader bits and tada here is a betel onslaught
+the captain i guess so. it's also a matter of making it look good though. idk, there's a lot of complications ot the figure that make it difficult to modify. pins instead of screws, weird proportions and the like...

Good job on the customization, I'll be honest though- if I got this set, I'd probably wouldn't go this far with customization- if i did any. But to each his own, whatever floats your boat man

sup tf bruddah? okay so I know you posted this vid a year ago, so I notcied a couple things with your customisation. What kind of paints are you using? See ive never painted a hasbro toy, but im a master painter and 2 time golden demon 3rd place runner up for my warhammer skills. What kind of paints are you using? See I noticed from the vid you had some clumping of paint and streaking in other places, I recommend using citadel paints, they are water based, but go on and stay so well, and you dont need much at all, which will help soo much with your transfer (making it look like it wasnt painted over.) make sure the consistency isnt too runny, so a nice balance...like the same consistency as a healing cut.so it applies easy and smooth over a large surface. Im getting ready to do some tutorial vids on this, so anyone that wants to try this and have everything looking badass and professional can do it. Love the way your brut looks from a distance, but when you get close you can clearly see the flaws, not razzing you, just giving you tips. Metallic colours are a bitch unfortunatly, metallics need to go on runny to prevent streaking and clumping. Use Citadel paints, they are expensive..like 5 bucks Canadian, but one small bottle can last for ever. Try using primers before painting is also a great idea, use dark colour primers for darker more shadowed looks, and light for high contrast brights. So a medium-dark brown/ Eggshell for lights... I hope I didnt insult ya, we are all fans helping eachother out for the best outcome possible \m/ If you have any questions on brush technique etc, im more than available. Till all are one..
gabrielgray haha no offense taken, and actually, thanks for the tips. I'm quite the noob when it comes to this stuff and I'm constantly trying to learn. I'll be sure to check your channel! thanks = D
Rockin, I actually took some of your ideas and added my own twist, high detail shadings and highlights mix colour blends, only did vortex so far, and its taken me awhile, had to prime the hell out of him and wait for that to dry before I started my dark brown base coat before goin with my greys on the body. The final wash will look sick, just ran out of a black wash and making one out of scratch and black paint can be dangerous gettin the right ratio. Wanna get a better cam than my phone before I start my vids, but once i do Ill be posting.
oh and best way to cut parts off and transfer parts, use a hot plate and a butter knife or fillet knife, heat the blade up red hot will cut like a hot knife through butter, making it so much easier and cleaner than a soldering iron can. just make sure you wear a respirator mask, i say this cause well plastic burning releases some gnarly chems you dont want to breath in. ps Grats on being a dad \m/
God man, I know I am probably way too late on this but you need to get yourself some sand paper for those custom parts, they look like they have been crush with that lumpy ass surface, some sanding would make it look way better. (experience from helping a friend make some custom nerf guns, I think that the techniques would transfer over well enough.)
The Bruticus kind of looks like a sea of silver. But otherwise, great! I feel that Vortex needs some teal on his shoulders. Also, how did you paint Brawl? I want to do that.
I like it, it's inaccurate for sure, but I like it. For now anyway. I used an acrylic paint, but my hobby store didn't have the hreen needed so i mixed black white blue yellow and a small amount of red until I got the desired color. Then i brush applied it twice. Then spray clear coated, stickers, clear coated. Cured for a day in a closet. Done
I want to repaint my Transformers but don't know what kind if paint should I use. What kind off paint did you use, what's the name of paint brand and where'd you buy it from?
not that I need to explain myself, but I will because I got nothing better to do I've tried to sell Tankor. nobody stinking wanted him. it sat on ebay for months at a $20 price point. the figure is crap through and through. i gave my opinion in a review already. so rather than throwing it out, because I was seriously considering it, I scavanged what I wanted from it, and then threw out the rest. tl;dr it was a crap toy that nobody wanted that I used for my needs since it was going to the dump anyway. definitely an idiot
toyhax.com/for-comb-wars/1899-labels-for-cw-combiner-bruticus.html There's Bruticus, and in that area you can also find the defensor and superion videos i did as well
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who despises the onslaught vehicle mode. Seriously any one I talk to is in phrase and sing to the heavens that it's a genius use of hotspot. If exposed fists on your brick with wheels trying to be a truck is genius you probably think Jar Jar Binks and Ewoks are the greatest things ever
+automan224 here's a picture. it's very obviously Hot Spot still. but waaaay better than what the official Onslaught is s558.photobucket.com/user/transformerscustoms/media/2015%20JUNE/_DSC0299_zps3p2ubess.jpg.html
Your mods to Vortex's tail look lumpy and rough. Is there a reason you didn't sand them down before painting? (I love the mods generally--I just want to know in case I ever attempt something like that myself.)
i sort of did. but I had the wrong grit, and then I started rushing it for some reason, and I believe another reason was fear the joining of the two parts would snap, though it probably wouldn't have. in short, I can't remember why and I regret it because I can't go back and finish it mainly because the grey I used is all used up and colour matching is a pain. who knows though, I might go back and do it anyway, or possibly even order the shapeways kit rhat does what I did but better looking and far more functional
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer Thanks. My wife bought me this "plastimake" stuff - moldable plastic that sets in hot water - and I was considering using that.
Was your daughter born on March 13th? That's one day before my birthday! Also, how tall are these figures? (including the figures that you need to build it)
Here's an idea of what to do with your spare Alpha Bravo. It's a 3D printed kit, if you've got access to a 3D printer. Sadly Shapeways won't allow him to sell it, but I hear he's using a different site. www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/1062661-heroic-robot-que-bravo.html
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer I'm getting one and making it an orange Decepticon this week. If you like I could show you some WIP pics. Shame about the lack of Shapeways though. I mean I'm fine, but not everyone has the luxury of a 3D printer.
I'm going to make an item to use with him to make him look battle damaged, its a combiner plug like part, bit is has wires poking out of it. want one when its done.
Nice custom work. Good color choices. I have heavily modded Vortex as well, but used shapeways kits from Steam Shield instead of building custom parts. www.shapeways.com/shops/steamshield?s=12 I used the light version of the tail, and the quad rotor assembly with the blades that become swords. The rotor assembly kit is nice in that it includes an extra hinge to allow the blades to fold parallel to the arm/robot mode. Vortex looks pretty awesome now. Steam Shield also offers tons of other CW upgrades, including the skid arms for Blades, which I have also modded. While I too think Blast Off as a jet makes sense as a combaticon, SS has an ingenious kit to turn BO into a combat shuttle ala Armageddon. I recommend you check out the offerings there on Shapeways as I think you'll dig them, but just don't spend too much of baby's formula and diaper budget on mod kits. Congrats, btw. Get sleep when you can...
I have seen his work, and to be honest, it's what inspired me in the first place. I was also considering getting the head replacements he sells. I just found it hard to justify the cost of a deluxe plus shipping just for a tail mod. Out of curiosity. How durable are those upgrades? I know a lot of people say 3d printed stuff is awful at stability and that it'll grind down to nothing if it doesn't snap first
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer I understand on the pricing. I just could not accept Vortex as is and ponied up the cash for the really nice kits. The deluxe tail has the horizontal stabilizer, like yours and landing gear, but I was not ready to cut of the tampographed tail sections. Reprolabels are awesome but nothing beats a painted faction symbol, IMO. Durability will vary depending on the material the stuff is printed in. I have had no durability issues with the strong and flexible material. It does not have the same smooth "feel" of Hasbro plastic, but I haven't snapped anything either. For example, the blades seem to have the same amount of flex and stiffness as the hasbro originals. Heads are recommended in the ultra detail plastics which I think is clear plastic. I have no experience with the ultra detail plastic, but understand it can be more brittle. Getting polished versions can affect the fit of stuff like ball joints, but otherwise help the finished look and feel. The strong and flexible material seems very porous and absorbs most paint right into the plastic. The only time I've snapped anything that was 3d printed was after I painted, then clear coated stuff with ball joints that then got too tight. That was the Human Alliance Bumblebee two hands kit from Ariel Lemon, also awesome stuff BTW. www.shapeways.com/shops/arielscustoms?l=36 IMO, that was my fault. I replaced with another set, did not clear coat the balls and other jointed parts, and it worked out fine. My experience with the CW upgrades from Steam Shield have been nothing but positive. Granted, I have not attempted the BO mods which apparently require some major wing surgery to get the pins out.
huh. well if I can ever afford it, I'll definitely pick the vortex upgrades up. blast off though, I'm incredibly happy leaving him as is. thouhh I wouldn't mind a new head for him
Sadly for us, it would have been relatively easy and inexpensive for Hasbro to mold a different tail piece for Vortex, different arms (with skids and no missiles) for Blades and new heads for each to differentiate them from Alpha Bravo and make then all a touch truer to their characters. However, I'm sure they figure the target audience (kids) won't give a hoot. Thank goodness there are 3rd party companies and designers on shapeways willing to put in the work and take the money from us "picky" adult collectors. The extra joint in SS' rotor kit is so simple, yet genius, and I will eventually get the two blade version for Blades and Alpha Bravo The PE upgrade kits are great. However I actually prefer the Nonnef feet, that I was lucky enough to order before they were gone. They don't transform into anything like the PE kits, but are great big chunky feet with beefy ball joints. I don't mind the Coxsackievirus A6 appliances so much as hands, but these combiners need big chunky feet, as evidenced by Has/Tak apparently redoing the hands and feet for Victorion and Computron. As far as shipping fees with Shapeways, they offer free shipping promotions every so often. If you're on their mailing list, you'll see the the promotion. I use their wish list feature to stack stuff I want and then wait for the shipping promo to come around.
Surprising my brawls waist also stays in place even though, the design is dumb. Also congrats on you kid man (Also what colour green did you use for brawl?)
I hate the guns that come with onslaught.. so like you I pinched the gun off silver bolt and cyclonos but I painted his chest black along with the guns
Scramble City was an OVA released in Japan that served as a bridge between seasons 2 and 3 of the G1 cartoon as they did not get Transformers The Movie until years after it was released. It primarily focused around the Combiners (Superion, Menasor, Defensor, and Bruticus) and their ability to reconfigure their limbs in battle, hence scrambling. It ended on a cliffhanger, but there was a fan made sequel years later.
Haha if you think so. personally I was going for G1 cartoon colours. being it was supposed to be a military helicopter this is one time I don't exactly mind the bland
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer aw man for me it's all about what ever looks striking to me like I'm a total g2 fan boy because the neon is just great in my opinion also congrats on the newborn
Went with your alternate shoulder configuration for Bruticus and used Silverbolt guns for the back cannons instead and Bruticus looks great! The UW Silverbolt's gun fits snugly into the back cannon port, though while the Hasbro one does not. Strange. :P
I ended up stuffing a bit of a tissue over the Hasbro Silverbolt's gun handle to make it fit. And I've noticed that UW figures tend to have tighter/more solid joints and connections in their figures.
Congratulations man, my first kid was a girl. I'm raising them right with Transformers etc

Would you try to attempt this again with 3D printing?
Oh I wish I could recolor my brawl, but I'm not good at painting
I just used the reprolabels set, and went over the smaller details on the tank mode. I don't really care about the colour of the tank tbh.
sup tf bruddah? okay so I know you posted this vid a year ago, so I notcied a couple things with your customisation.
PS forgive the repeating myself, its 5 am and im freakin tired.
gabrielgray haha no offense taken, and actually, thanks for the tips.
Wanna get a better cam than my phone before I start my vids, but once i do Ill be posting.
oh and best way to cut parts off and transfer parts, use a hot plate and a butter knife or fillet knife, heat the blade up red hot will cut like a hot knife through butter, making it so much easier and cleaner than a soldering iron can. just make sure you wear a respirator mask, i say this cause well plastic burning releases some gnarly chems you dont want to breath in. ps Grats on being a dad \m/
i know its two years late but congrats on the baby
haha thanks, I also had one 7 months ago if you want to be less late on the congratulations = P
would have love to see the combaticons beeing the WWII vehicles/planes they where .... :)
have you seen the images for the unite warriors version? blastoff's finally a shuttle and vortex has a cool neon color scheme.
yeeeaaaaah I didn't quite like either. I'm one of the few that prefers Hasbro's version over Takara's. doubly so since I painted it
*watches the rest of video* oh... you did...
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer
well, I won't judge your preference.
*Screenshots comment and shows to friends*
GUYS HE REPLIED!
Testors Acrylic paint. it was from a hobby shop
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer thank you for replying
Think you'll be making a screen-accurate Ruination? B3
I'm not familiar with ruination, but I can't afford a second set so probably not

Great review and congrats on your new addition. I just learned of your channel and subbed.
+Dolkkar Toyznstuff thank you and thank you = )
You're welcome and thank you.
any ideas how to make onslaught's alt mode back look like a front?
Congrats dude!
CONGRATULATIONS !!!
You should've painted swindles headlights
I got the G2 superion pack but with A16's
What's u do with bruticus' back to get rid of thase boxes?
When I saw 3:58 I was like: "OH GOD WHY!?!"
Because Octane suuuuuuuuucked
the idiot of the year :DDD
evil mugen Who, what, when, why?
not that I need to explain myself, but I will because I got nothing better to do
I've tried to sell Tankor. nobody stinking wanted him. it sat on ebay for months at a $20 price point. the figure is crap through and through. i gave my opinion in a review already.
so rather than throwing it out, because I was seriously considering it, I scavanged what I wanted from it, and then threw out the rest.
tl;dr it was a crap toy that nobody wanted that I used for my needs since it was going to the dump anyway. definitely an idiot
I've got Onslaught and Brawl.
What the hell do I do now?!
Get Swindle!
Dunno if this is a showcase of a Combiner Wars Bruticus custom or a rant of Combiner Wars Bruticus...
Congratulation on your baby
Where are the reprolabels videos for the combiner wars figures. I can’t find any of the videos.
Unlisted, but you can find them on their website
Could you please make those public again. I miss those videos
toyhax.com/for-comb-wars/1899-labels-for-cw-combiner-bruticus.html
There's Bruticus, and in that area you can also find the defensor and superion videos i did as well
can you get the clear gloss at a hardware store?
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who despises the onslaught vehicle mode. Seriously any one I talk to is in phrase and sing to the heavens that it's a genius use of hotspot. If exposed fists on your brick with wheels trying to be a truck is genius you probably think Jar Jar Binks and Ewoks are the greatest things ever
Some other guy made an onslaught out of a Hot Spot and it looked wwaaaaaaay better as an artillery truck
+automan224 here's a picture. it's very obviously Hot Spot still. but waaaay better than what the official Onslaught is

My wife bought me this "plastimake" stuff - moldable plastic that sets in hot water - and I was considering using that.
dude you are right about firefight even on warbotron has the head I'm so blind
Was your daughter born on March 13th? That's one day before my birthday!
Also, how tall are these figures? (including the figures that you need to build it)
Get some of the ko's. You can get a set for half the price
Do a review on Combiner Wars Devestator.
I never plan on buying the thing. sorry
Where did you get onslaunt tell me please I have the limbs but not the torso😗😞
I bought them all as a set online. None of these are even in Canada yet. Probably won't be till June
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer. Just wondering Bro
hii lazy eyebrow can you tell me please which color do you use to panit the plastic? thanks
+Tovi Kliger a custom mix of primary acrylic colours
Tnx. Keep up with the amazing reviews and Mazal Tov for the new born :)
congrats on baby!!!
Thanks!
+DrLockdown .................................................................THAT. IS. A FANTASTIC IDEA!
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer I'm getting one and making it an orange Decepticon this week. If you like I could show you some WIP pics.
Shame about the lack of Shapeways though. I mean I'm fine, but not everyone has the luxury of a 3D printer.
please do!
congratulations for the kid!
Thanks man! = D
Awesome review man.
Thanks = )
I'm going to make an item to use with him to make him look battle damaged, its a combiner plug like part, bit is has wires poking out of it. want one when its done.
*?
that would be amazing!
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer its kinda of a homage to when Bruticus was destroyed in a one of his fights
Good job on the big bad dudeticus
Thanks = D
If i send you my vortex can you do the same mods, like painting?
I'll do it for you man :)
Ultra Magnus: Leader of the wreckers oh really?
+Jon foy yup 😃😃😃😃
+Ultra Magnus: Leader of the wreckers I would need some item to make sure you send back vortex.
+Jon foy sure
Nice custom work. Good color choices. I have heavily modded Vortex as well, but used shapeways kits from Steam Shield instead of building custom parts. www.shapeways.com/shops/steamshield?s=12
I used the light version of the tail, and the quad rotor assembly with the blades that become swords.
The extra joint in SS' rotor kit is so simple, yet genius, and I will eventually get the two blade version for Blades and Alpha Bravo
The PE upgrade kits are great.
+Thomas L thanks! glad to hear it, aaaand it was blue red black and white acryllic paint that I mixed until I hit the shade I wanted
really?? I thought you would have used a dark green. Interesting though. Also will you be getting the reprolabels for this guy?
i did, but i had to take them off to paint. my review of the whole set is on thier site
as for the paint, I tried to find am acrylic color that matched but no store had one
Excuse meeeeeee where could I get the cyclonus cannons and the hands and feet???
ESTEBAN NIÑO-LAMAR flea. markets lots of loose guns swords ect.. ect...
Vortex's tail looks like it just escaped a forest fire...
I'll give shapeways a try.
How did you switch the artillery piece the opposite way?
on which figure? (a timestamp to what you're talking to might be helpful = P)
Onslaught
I hate the guns that come with onslaught.. so like you I pinched the gun off silver bolt and cyclonos but I painted his chest black along with the guns
Only thing that bothers me about blast off is the lack of faceplate
yeah that is a bit of an issue
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer Please do a video showing how you cut , kit bash and sauter your figs! A painting tutorial would be most welcome as well!
I tried the custom I messed up on 7 Bruticus' but the 8th one was good
Okay, so I checked out the perfect effect hands and feet, and I've got to say...
Thirty dollars just for some hands and feet? Jesus.
idk i find they make all the difference
Well, I suppose I'm not as serious about Transformers, so different perceptions?
I think they're pretty awesome
You should make your own custom combiner
If money wasn't an issue, I'd have Cyclonus, Alpha Bravo, Offroad, Rook and Hasbro's Blast Off and call him outcastatron = P
That would be amazing
Perhaps someone can inlighten me.
what is scramble city I'm a tad confused
Scramble City was an OVA released in Japan that served as a bridge between seasons 2 and 3 of the G1 cartoon as they did not get Transformers The Movie until years after it was released. It primarily focused around the Combiners (Superion, Menasor, Defensor, and Bruticus) and their ability to reconfigure their limbs in battle, hence scrambling. It ended on a cliffhanger, but there was a fan made sequel years later.
Where did you get the hands and feet
What did you do to vortex?? He looks like boredom mc boring robot when he used to be awesome
Haha if you think so. personally I was going for G1 cartoon colours. being it was supposed to be a military helicopter this is one time I don't exactly mind the bland
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer aw man for me it's all about what ever looks striking to me like I'm a total g2 fan boy because the neon is just great in my opinion also congrats on the newborn
haha and that's what's so great about this hobby. there's literally something that appeals to everyone = P
and thanks = )
Given you have already modded these guys, why not using TF4 Hound to improve Onslaught vehicle mode?
PD: Congrats on the little girl...
+DarkZeeD I suppose that's not a bad idea. I just don't have one is all
Where did you get the extra Cyclonus guns?
a made a few trades with people around the internet. asked around and such
Went with your alternate shoulder configuration for Bruticus and used Silverbolt guns for the back cannons instead and Bruticus looks great! The UW Silverbolt's gun fits snugly into the back cannon port, though while the Hasbro one does not. Strange. :P
huh. so takara actually cut their gun ports deeper? neat
I ended up stuffing a bit of a tissue over the Hasbro Silverbolt's gun handle to make it fit. And I've noticed that UW figures tend to have tighter/more solid joints and connections in their figures.
