To Eat or Not To Eat - Part 2 of 2 - Does God care about what we eat? - Jim Staley

  • Modern science is finally catching up to what God said in His Word thousands of years ago. Studies have presented conclusive evidence revealing the serious health risks associated with going outside of God’s dietary boundaries. It has been proven that most unclean animals carry parasites, diseases, and are extremely high in toxicity. Did the Messiah’s work on the cross change the metabolic structure of all unclean animals?
Join Pastor Jim Staley as he unpacks every single verse in the Bible on the topic of “clean” and “unclean” animals. By the end of this message, there will be no doubt in your mind that we have been reading our denominational bias into the scriptures. This teaching will dramatically affect the way you look at food as you learn how so many believers today suffer from the “diseases of Egypt” spoken of in Deuteronomy 28 by breaking God’s dietary instructions.

I agree with you about how we react after staying away from unclean meats. Now when I smell pork cooking, it makes me nauseous. Usually some of our adult children like bacon bits, but we announced just before the family gathered for Thanksgiving that it would be pork-free .... And it was. No one complained. No bacon bits, no ham. No one seemed to notice and we planted a seed. ❤

@@ShadrachTheThird Rom14:14 in our English versions of the Bible comes from the Greek word “koinos” (G2839 - κοινός - koinos) meaning “common”. The word “unclean” is actually a different Greek word “Akathartos” (G169 - ἀκάθαρτος - akathartos). Both these words can be read in Act 10:14 “But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common(koinos) or unclean(akathartos)”. In fact this is the only place where “koinos” is translated as “unclean” in the whole of the New Testament.
While unclean(akathartos) was used to denote something unclean like “unclean foods”, common(koinos) was used to indicate something “ritually impure”, such as in the case of eating with unwashed hands. “Ritual impurity” was not part of God’s Law, but was connected to Tradition.

@@Growinginchristjesus nice try but no. Read chapter 14 and vs 14 in context.....it's amazing how people who claim to believe in Jesus as God but don't recognize the sacrifice he made for us. Messianic Jews or old testament believers still believe we're bound to the law. New testament believers act like they can just say they have faith and they're good but Jesus , The Lord ,through Paul said at the end of Romans 14 whatsoever is not of faith is Sin. Which I believe amplifies everything . Vs 14 has nothing to do with washing hands.

Acts 15:19-21 - Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the gentiles who are turning to Elohim, 20but that we write to them to abstain from the defilements of idols, and from whoring, and from what is strangled, and from blood.d 21“For from ancient generations Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him - being read in the congregations every Sabbath.”
The Gentiles would hear Lev 11 (dietary laws) on the Sabbath as the Torah is preached every Sabbath for them to hear. So there was no need to list out everything in the letter.

1 Corinthians 8 does not conclude that it is acceptable to eat food offered to idols. How do I say that? Keep reading.
1 Corinthians 10 states the ildols are nothing but behind the idols are demons. Paul states don't associate with demons.
So 1 Corinthians 8 states that if you dont know if the food is offered to idols, don't worry. Dig in.
But in Chapter 10 he concludes that if you do know the food is offered to idols. reject it.
Thanks for doing this must needed lessons on Food.

And if any of the unbelievers invite you, and you wish to go, you eat whatever is set before you, asking no question on account of the conscience. 28And if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it because of the one pointing it out to you, and on account of the conscience, for “The earth belongs to Yahweh, and all that fills it.” 29Now I say conscience, not your own, but that of the other. For why is my free- dom judged by another’s conscience? 30But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for what I give thanks? 31Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the esteem of Elohim.

      @Growinginchristjesus
Do All to the Glory of God
      (cf. Ps. 24:1 )
23¶“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.
So we have the letter of the law and the Spirit of the law.
The letter kills (all things are lawful)
But the Spirit brings life (24Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.)
The slirit of the law state we must love our neighbor.
If we go around participating with demons secretly (eating food offered to idol thinking that we stand) but it is found out (how much do you really love your neighbor?)
Though we know idol are just wood and we do not worship idols but God, by eating we are not participating in idol worship but our heart serves God. But by eating we are breaking a different command, to love neighbor.
It is not breaking Love God, thus lawful in that sense, however we are breaking Love neighbor (those who may be weak in the faith or those who are outside of the faith.
Thus, don't participate with demons who place things to entice deception (in one way its ok, in another it's participating by not love the lost.)
