Should be fun either way especially that we've played a ton of other games like Touhou Hisoutensoku, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, Melty blood actress again current code, etc. (Not a traditional fighter but I'll add it as an bonus because I enjoyed it playing with my friends that being Higurashi Daybreak) which is legit this is such a great find because I wanna try all kinds of fighting games even if some of them are crappy like the one I've found Makise Kurisu from steins;gate or that one with saya from song of saya. I agree, a lot of the fun of fighting games is the experience of messing around and figuring stuff out. I'd say for me, that's the most enjoyable part of fighting games, which is part of what drew me to DDND initially: it seemed highly underexplored due to not really being competitively viable, but really unique and interesting nonetheless. But if you're looking for recommendations for more janky old fighting games to check out, you're asking the wrong person. At this point I actually don't play many fighting games outside of DDND, and most of my knowledge is limited to the mainstream stuff. But if you want more quality videos on obscure fighters, I think that GuileWinQuote is at the top of the list. Also, there's some people in the DDND discord who have some crazy eldritch knowledge on all kinds of old fighters, which makes sense because that's the kind of person that would be drawn to DDND.

oh hell yeah, these are gonna be great. I only know 2 characters by name (Dong Dong and Violent Dong Dong, Mario doesn't count lol) and I only play Mario myself so I know basically nothing about the characters in this game. this video was very enjoyable, thanks.
I love how his specials are designed to be underwhelming in every aspect to make Violent look like that much of an upgrade, but maybe those exploits were intended too. Spinning Legs is the perfect name for an underwhelming tatsumaki.
Something I noticed is that he only uses his front limbs for his grounded normals. combined with the hands in the pockets during the idle stance it really gives the sense that he's kinda laid back and taking things easy
Although I’m actually here because I’m actually trying my luck at my own fighting game, and now I’ve found out that my uppercut, and by extension, literally everything else is comically disjointed because I’ve added literally no extra hitboxes that activate during all of the moves, although to be fair my game is already unbalanced in many other ways, like literally having zero startup or telegraphing for any move or being able to cancel almost any move into another, interestingly though, you cannot cancel into the same move you just did and cannot cancel from any move into shield, which at least means blocking is balanced

Hey dude I have been playing the crap out of this, any way we can petition to get it on Fightcade? Even if it has to use that one program for netplay, it'd be nice to have it on FC as a frontend. I like Ken and Mario more than Dong Dong, but that's probably because I have a better feel for those 2 and I have some silly combos with them both.
@@capemron6330 I don't know exactly what it would take to get 2DFM games to work on fightcade but I imagine it would be a nightmare. It's an abandonware engine whose source code is probably long gone, and it also runs at 100fps which I imagine would require some specialized trickery
@@dismasthepenitent569 Not even to use Fightcade as a "frontend" ? MvC2 and CvS2 use a Dreamcast emulator, and the games boot up into the DC emulator - different than most of the games that use the FBA emu. I think the netcode isn't even rollback for the DC emu games and it uses whatever the emu has built in, but I could be completely wrong there. It's the same with the SNES games I think. Basically I'm just hoping for a lobby for DDND, and when the game actually boots, it would use the LilithPort anyway. I do think it being on there would make it easier for people and bring more eyes to the game, something I'd like to see them do with Tatsunoko VS Capcom too. You can play online but it's via an emulator.
@@capemron6330 I think the developers of Dong Dong 2023 (a different DDND modding project based in China) managed to integrate lilithport with a dedicated client/lobby called "mixi." I'm in contact with the DD23 devs so I suppose I could reach out to them for more info.

The game is a blast, and with the way it works it honestly reminds me a lot of X-men VS SF with a little bit of other games mechanics sprinkled in like the CvS rolls and SF3 universal overheads. The way combos and juggles work, and being able to combo off of throws, as well as being able to move before the round starts reminds me so much of X-men VS SF.
The controller support sucks, it's an engine-level issue Best thing to do is use a program like Joy2Key to convert controller inputs to keyboard inputs

Gonna be honest, I think Dong Dong is probably one of the more wacky characters. A lot of the cast doesn't have much interesting stuff going on.
