I was one of the lucky Aussies that subconsciously woke up about 2-3 hours after they were released and managed to snag them all (but had to buy two trios and 3 singles because the everything kit was sold out which was annoying!!). As usual, love your review and how in-depth they always are. Hope you will one day manage to catch em' all.. pokemon! ^^
I really hope that she eventually re-releases some of her products so that everyone can have a better chance of trying them! Limited releases are so frustrating. Btw, I loved your video on these, Melissa!

Pat McGrath is launching a permanent collection. I believe MatteTrance lipsticks are a part of this range, although it hasn't specifically been mentioned which shades. I hope the shades from this collection will be in it, I've had my eye on Flesh 3!

Wow you have plenty of lipsticks hahaha - would a video talking about the best lipsticks at different price points for each category of colour be a good idea? Eg. best magentas, best warm pinks, best cool pinks, best brown nudes, orange nudes, pink nudes etc. May be quite an intense video though. But anyways, those lipsticks are great! I totally understand your frustration at that marketing strategy - there ARE more people living around the world, and I'm one of them.

I am so frustrated with companies pulling these types of games with us. I have officially stopped buying anything from several brands that have repeatedly done this. A brand that dropped a certain Peach product was sold out within a couple of minutes and then restocked about 2 weeks later and sold out again in the same record time and then restocked again. That is ridiculous. They produced 11,000 palettes for their first release and had over 2.9 million Instagram subscribers. What did they think was going to happen! Love, love, love the eye look. I luckily have close enough dupes for the one lipstick that would work for me so I am good. Thank you for your great reviews.
I typically avoid limited edition releases for this very reason. My love for Pat McGrath won this time! x
Karima, saw your tweet. I can't even begin to explain how annoyed some of us are by these people who expect a natural eye or a smokey eye and basically want you to reproduce the same 2 or 3 looks with different products. We, your actual fans who would watch you apply makeup to a brown paper bag, want you to express yourself, because we LOVE your looks and creativity!!!!
It's okay love, editorial tutorials will go to instagram. I'm a firm believer that we should wear what makes us happy and extend that thought to others. x

You surprised me!! I really liked how you described every detail. My lips are dry as well. I went straight away to purchase one and found the last one on Ebay for $50. even before you "liked" it. So I'm glad I grabbed it!
I read the comments so I knew the break was coming, but I still gasped! So sad! (And then watched it again because I just love that song 😂) I can't decide if I want to pick these up or not, they do look beautiful though! And I totally agree with you about LA Splash, they are beyond uncomfortable on the lips!

I agree with your comment! I live in the US. By the time I heard about the product and had an opinion about what shades I would like to try, those shades had sold out everywhere, including Sephora. It just does not make sense. Is it the exclusivity and these being limited edition which justify outrageous prices? They are lipsticks, not diamonds, right? Not that diamond market is a completely different area to discuss but I digress.

I got some gold star sequins with a ysl purchase so I put them at the bottom of my glass eyeshadow brush pot (an empty jo malone candle) it looks really pretty 🌟🌟🌟
ALSO PLS can you do an updated video/blog post on your favourite foundations shades for olive skin? Every foundation atm is pulling so golden/beige on me. My face is s totally different colour to my arms and I just about give up on life (finding the right foundation shade)

Great review, but wanted to say I don't think the limited supply is all about creating demand for the products.
Some of the interviews with Pat back from the start of the Labs line indicate that the brand is essentially a design thinking process -- the small batches allow her to very quickly get products into the market to test with consumers, without investing the amount of time and capital that a full manufacturing run would require.
This type of process allows her to obtain invaluable feedback before they launch the permanent line and start mass producing products, increasing operating costs (e.g. packaging), etc. Note that up until these lipsticks, even the packaging has been very prototype-ish (which is often a complaint, because for the price people expect luxury packaging).
She can then take all of the information about the products (consumer feedback, market demand, profitability, how the products fared through the manufacturing/storage/distribution/shipping process, etc.) and incorporate into her permanent line, which was initially supposed to launch in 2016.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying that there are no underlying marketing/brand value benefits as I'm sure the hype and exclusivity of the products over the last couple of years will certainly help the initial launch of her permanent line to be successful. But, from some of those interviews (and I wish I could find them, but there's too much to sort through now with all the articles about the new line) made it pretty clear that the Labs line was like test run while she was working on the permanent line -- I don't know that it's fair that people tend to suggest it's all about marketing / creating false demand. I think those first couple of products only had about 1000 units produced, they really were more like late stage prototypes.
I think using a design thinking approach to her brand is pretty cool and innovative, it's much more prevalent in the technology/engineering industries than in the consumer products/cosmetics industries.
I totally agree with your entire comment. Regardless of intent/process, the low supply/high demand situation can be frustrating for average consumer, refreshing like crazy with no idea whether the formula will return. I adore Pat and her work and I'm SUPER excited to see the permanent collection 😊 Hopefully there is stock for all of us! x

On the bright side, LE or popular makeup seems to take ages to sell out on Mecca and Sephora. If whichever product sells out on launch then it doesn't seem to on a second drop... Assuming these LE products even make it here. Yay!

You can order from sephora US and ship them to AU. They ship to US, Canada, UK, AU, Germany and Korea or China not sure about those two. And a great and detailed video, loved it.

Love your look. I have skin envy. FYI for anyone interested, Pat McGrath does all the promotional stuff on Insta and she had a pre-release sale for these lipsticks. I thought that was great for those of us worried about missing out on shades when they inevitably sell out. Something to keep in mind when she does her next exclusive release.

In case you're still wondering: Crianza is pronounced cree-AHN-thah. And it's a kind of Spanish red wine that has matured in a barrel from 6 to 12 months and in the bottle until 2 years have passed since its production ;)

LOVE Pat's lipsticks. They are my fave alongside Besame. They stay on well, are very pigmented and not drying. During the pandemic, Matte Trance was sold for less than 1/2 off for a spell. I nearly passed out. I bought a bunch even though the only place I went out was to the dumpster to toss my Prime boxes. I know I am not alone when I wear lipstick indoors looking like a skanky mess and outdoors when I make an effort. Red lipstick elevates my mood. Karima, can you recommend a good lipstick base for non feathering? I don't like the glossy one I use now. Pat's lipsticks don't feather but I have some others that do.

Karima McKimmie I've had *multiple* times where I walked by someone mid conversation while wearing the shade and they stopped mid sentence to ask me what it was haha. Of my 20+ dark aubergine lipsticks it's the one I trust most to not bleed or feather. The exact opposite of black Dahlia lip tar, really. Totally supplanted Prince Noir and whatever else for me.
Karima do you like Guerlain's Terracotta Sun Tonic Bronzer? I think it's limited edition and it has different packaging, an orange compact. Would love to know whether you have tried it or not!! :)
