On January 3, 2023, Two people were arrested in connection to a possible bank fraud scam. One was caught using a fake id and pretending to be the owner of the account.
He was trying to deposit a money order, obtain full information about the account and then come back later to make a withdrawal.
His accomplice left when he saw police cars, but was tracked by an automated license plate reader system and was arrested moments later.
They were charged with forgery in the first degree and identity fraud using identifying information of another and transported to DeKalb County Jail.

I used to work at a bank. An old lady came in crying. She said her grandson was at fault for an accident and required $11k in bail money. I told her to call her grandson, who eventually picked up. He was sleeping and confused about what was going on. I told her she was getting scammed and not to worry. Don't be so sure. If you have read what banks are doing lately you would not be feeling so good about your money. What banks have started recently doing is simply closing your account without notice if a computer algorithm determines that your account has either been hacked, scammed or has unusual activity. The bank will not even meet with you to discuss the unusual activity on your account, no matter how long you have been with the bank. The newspapers have been running stories and interviews with horrified bank customers, especially business people who have had their accounts suddenly closed with no explanation from the bank. Do not make any unusual deposits, no unusual withdrawals. Just make sure that you write the same checks to the same people every month and even then, the bank may still close your account if someone tries to scam your account. You can bet that the bank in this video is going to close the account of the true client even though he is the victim and had nothing to do with the attempted identity scam. The banks today are serving only themselves and don't think for a minute that they care one inch about you no matter how long you have been a customer of the bank.

No, the banks are not fighting for their patrons. What banks are doing now is instead of contacting you if they suspect your account has been hacked or scammed, they will simply send you a letter stating that due to "unusual activity" on your account that they are closing your account immediately without explanation or details. Check the newspapers for the huge amount of publicity this has gotten lately. Interviews with horrified bank patrons especially business people who have suddenly been denied any banking transactions by their bank because of unusual activity on their account. The bank goes by a computer algorithm to decide if they are going to close your account without even meeting with you, the true owner of the account. I suspect that in this case, the true client will have his account closed. Banks can close any account any time without explanation. That's how much they value your loyalty. No, the banks are not fighting for their patrons as you say, they are only fighting for themselves.

Even better, not condoning people who are scum, and cash incorrect checks, or do a wire fraud ring like the guys here, but why wait for the police to arrive? Smh lol. Pay attention to how the bank employees are acting. If you see them "I'll be right back please wait" and they go whisper to another banker etc. If it's taking them more than five minutes to do a transaction, cops were called, and you better scatter lol. Most banks have security guards dressed up in a suit and tie, masquerading as bank employees, who will step in if they feel someone is doing something criminal etc. I think that's why nowadays, you seldom see people do blatant/in person bank/check scams much anymore.. etc. I think the real asshole criminals getting away,, are the ones in secret, doing virtual skimming and stuff.
