Of course there were many shots earlier in the earlier rounds that contributed to being there to make that happen and that's true for all the competitors. True sure made a hell of a run until his luck ran out on the last hole. Great job as Ezra. And I think Matt Bell deserves a shout-out for his hot round. Would love to have seen highlights to see how he did it.
No excuse this day and age for camera men or range finders to be standing in the fairway. Unacceptable. AB's shot is another example of why this NEEDS to get fixed.
How do you expect e.g. spotter so see where the disc lands, if he/she isn't on the fairway? Seeing the throw is kind of mandatory in order to follow the flight. Of course we can get rid of spotters and let players do the judging. Catch cams give another view on video coverage. Disc golf doesn't have the money golf has for camera work. Also blue and dark discs should be forbidden from tournament use. Only neon colors, pink, white, orange and few other colors should be allowed. Who ever is on the fairway, should follow the players and discs though. E.g., blue discs are a nightmare though. Those disappear agaist the sky and become visible in the last 100 ft or so. I don't think ranger finder people needs to be on the fairway though. Never been in that role so not exactly sure how they operate.

I'm certainly not a salesman (I'm an engineer in a completely different field), but I did start with Innova and most of my bag consists of Innova discs. I agree with OP - these commercials are great. One of the few I don't mind playing through. They're short, to the point, and informative. I get to get a quick synopsis of a disc I might not have considered. I'm down with it. Jomez is knocking it out of the park in a big way, even with their in-video ad selections. The Chris Clemons bits during the Putting Game are also great. I have to throw my support behind the positive stuff, and this is certainly in the right direction.

Personally, I would like a return to using the bottom part of the screen for an ongoing tally of the players' current score and last nine holes, I kept looking for that info.
Coverage just gets better and better. DGPT may have the live coverage but Jomez has them crushed in production and commentary quality. So excited for the 2023 season what a start!
Yea man I agree, as a KJ fan the last hole broke me. First the lets be honest bad luck on the first throw, and then nearly the throw-in. It sucks. Calvin is great and I idolize him too, but something had got to break KJs curse soon.
Dude normally it's heart breaking but I have to say the way he played the last couple holes basically opened up the door. No reason to lay up on some of these holes. I don't think anyone wins tourneys playing defense

Idea for windy courses. Wind speed readings. You could take a pretty accurate reading near the tee with an anemometer that would only take 15 seconds. And would give some perspective on somr of these wide open holes

I keep finding myself glancing down to see all the players scores but have to wait till the end of each hole to see that info. I would love to be able to see all the scores again
"Wrong place at the wrong time" is being pretty gracious to that guy. Imagine someone at a basketball game standing a foot inbounds near the basket when the offense is pushing.
The guy who was hit by AB's disc is a staff member of DGN. He was the rangefinder who was standing next to the camera person. After all the competitors throw their drives the rangefinder goes to each shot to measure the distance left to the pin and the distance of each tee shot if possible. He wasn't just some random spectator.

He is a staff member for the live coverage and was in that location because he needs to be to effectively do his job. I am sure there will be some kind of meeting to emphasize the importance of avoiding the discs for the staff members, bur it is likely to happen on occasion, just like refs in other sports occasionally getting caught up in plays.

I feel very bad for the individual but having the camera crew invade the center of the fairway so often is just not a professional approach.
@JomezPro Please go back to the old scoring system, its kinda irrelevant what ppl shot when finished when you watch a post production. Its alot easier and clearer to see the scored per hole like you used to have.
Tough break for AB on 10. I don't want to say horrible things about the people working the course during the tournament because they are a big part of making it happen, but come on. he had ample time to realize the disc was coming in his general vicinity. Yes, the course workers are part of play. all the more reason they should be in the bunker, so if they come into play there is no doubt what the shots outcome would have been. In other sports where officials are part of play it only comes up when there is a deflection or something that cuts their ability to make an adjustment to near zero. Well, at least since baseball cut down on 450Lbs umpires anyway. This can't happen on the back nine of a final round. If a ref got hit by a puck that was flipped from behind the net to give a teammate a breakaway "homerun" pass to near the opponent's blueline in Game 6 or 7 of the Stanley Cup, and they just didn't move while the puck sailed 140 feet in their direction without ever changing course, they'd be booed out of the arena, fired by the league, and probably forced to move out of their home by public backlash. I don't buy the "looking in the rangefinder" excuse as valid, that should have been done well before the shot was released. Really unfortunate for that worker, and again I do appreciate all the hard work they do, but that was a glaring fault and should never happen. Hard enough to keep your composure in the heat of a battle, AB's momentum got kneecapped there.
So is that in the rules? Where someone fucks your shot with their body? I really feel like he should just get to re-tee and that volunteer maybe put somewhere out of the field of play. That was messed up
It's exactly what you guys said. Kevin didn't lose this tournament. Calvin just came out and beat him. Kev played great, he stuck to his gameplan, didn't get too in his head, almost nailed that last throw in. We will be seeing this exact same lead card again this season at some point I believe
Heartbreaking for Kevin. I love Calvin and I'm stoked for him, but I can't wait for Kevin to finally get back to winning. He's been so close so many times
Bring back the old scoreboard. So hard to follow what place people are in on the back 9. Plus, seeing the scoreboards side-by-side during the hole lets you compare instead of waiting for the person to throw/the end of the current throw.
glad vinnie could make good on innova's decision to give him that contract.....with his 6 figure earnings (skins) last year and his new contract and winning the 1st ET of the year.......potential big year coming up!
I feel like Calvin always starts out the year very strong and the deeper they get into the back part of the season he just fades. At least last year. So if he knows why that happened and it's something he can fix then yea dude could be set up for a monster of a season.
You can't have something like what happened on hole 10 on AB's drive. Absolutely ridiculous. You can see it coming from 400 feet away and the dude's job is literally to watch the disc. There needs to be some sort of process in place that would negate an OB penalty if the disc was clearly not going to go OB without the sabotage.
Not a huge AB guy, but spotters really need to be off out of the field of play on the course. Most of them also seem to be not paying much attention, or being overly energetic with a disc flying towards them. Second, why the hell was that guy right there? It is very obvious if you are in a bunker or not. He should have been nearer to the sidewalk OB to flag there. AB should not have been stroked and got to play where he hit the flagger. I don’t want to hear any sports analogy with football or baseball, where there are officials on the field, as in golf there aren’t fans and officials scattered throughout the fairway like in Disc Golf. Disc Golf honestly has a lot of work to do in general with all the inconsistencies in rules and other problems. That single throw could have cost AB the tournament and THOUSANDS of dollars. All around terrible for the game…
As someone with TBI memory issues i really miss having the scores of all 4 players on screen at all times. But great coverage, and as always great commentary by Jerm, Uli, and Nate. Nice work Calvin!
It's so confusing trying to tell who is in the lead or in contention when all 4 scores aren't on the screen. Please change it back so you can see the entire card's score more than once per hole
I love Jomez and go to for watching pro tour coverage. I liked that last year had name and total round score displayed for each player at all times. Feels like I am always having a hard time to keep track of the players with it constantly cycling in the new style on the lower left corner rather than a banner across the bottom. Thanks Jomez for the great content!
ANTHONYS DISC HIT SOMEONE WHO WAS STANDING IN BOUDS!!!!! HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A DROP WITHOUT PENALTY. WTF!! If the guy was standing in the bunker when the disc hit him then I understand the call. I'm surprised BIG SEXY BARRI COMMENTARY didn't think to question the call. Disappointing for A.B. and I'm disappointed in the official rule. DID ANYONE THINK TO CHALLENGE THIS?
I really hope this incident gets addressed. Bad calls like this, especially if they don't get addressed, shows a lack of professionalism and delegitimizes the organization.
WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT VOLUNTEERS.... I mean good on them, but there has to be a penalty on them for that garbage. Could easily have cost AB the Tourney.
Thankfully it didn't end up mattering....but no way should AB's drive on 10 have counted as OB. A guy can't get out of the way and directly punts that disc into the Hazard? AB threw a perfect drive and gets penalized for a guy that shouldn't be standing there in the first place. That's just making him lose a stroke for no good reason.
You could really make these idiots happy if you just show an extra column with the scores thru the same amount of holes as the lead card, as well as the scores thru the current amount of holes. These ppl are so frustratingly ignorant to how golf is scored and coverage is shown for the golfers currently playing each hole. They explained it perfectly. The players want to know what their opponent is at thru their current hole position on the course because it dictates how they’re going to play. I really think these people would shut up if you just said, _“Hey, look, (insert chase card name here) was at -6 on hole 9 where this card is now. However, he’s now at -10 but he’s teeing off at hole 16 at the moment. He shot -4 of the next 6 holes. Okay, check in later…”_
@@nickycharles9699 you may think that but you’re not a professional disc golfer are you? These guys want as much info on the course as possible when they’re playing. It helps them tremendously with keeping a positive headspace though it can also cause a negative one if they aren’t playing well. Some players don’t check it. Most do at the end of a tournament. It’s not “too much” for any of them.
If you looked at just the scorecard you would think that KJ blew it but I don’t think the case at all. Dude played so good, but CH played at an incredible level on the back nine. KJ stuck to his game plan, some of those putts down the stretch were sick. On the last hole, Calvin gets a little lucky and KJ gets super unlucky with that air drop but then nearly throws it in, what a cooler. Great coverage, great event!
You shouldn't be a volunteer on a hole if you can't read how a disc is flying through the air. Its ridiculous a player gets penalized for someone elses negligence... Hole 10, a disc is flying at you so get out of the way..
please bring back the full card scores displayed at all times!! strange choice from a production standpoint-- i wouldn't expect a team to choose to provide *less* pertinent information on-screen than before. i doubt anyone felt the old graphics were in the way of the video. thank you!
AB shouldn’t have been penalized for somebody not getting out of the way. The guy got hit in bounds and AB should be able to drop for free in bounds. The rule for that sucks.
Great coverage! Hope you dont mind if I throw a couple ideas in the suggestion box: 1. For the leaderboard display, is it possible to give rows (players) who have finished their play a slightly different shading. That would help more easily see who is currently playing and who is already done without having to glance at the last column. 2. Super minor, but It would be kinda cool if when the player finishes a hole and the hole score graphic is displayed (e.g. BIRDIE, PAR, BOGEY, etc), that their displayed leaderboard position also visibly scrolled up or down. Currently the leaderboard position is updated as soon as the score graphic disappears, but it would draw more attention to the change if the leaderboard position scrolled down or up as the score graphic comes up. Sorry for the wordieness. I know that second one made no sense. :)
Bring back the full bottom scroecard. Its much nicer being able watch along without being able to see the stroke differences between everyone at all times.Especially at the start of each hole.

@jomezpro great coverage, only thing that I don't like is that the scorecards show their position at that time, not as of whatsoever hole they are on. Example, Anthony barella started tied for 5th at the beginning of the final rouns according to the scorecard. Think that's a bit confusing
Does anyone else think that hitting a person in the field of play should lead to a re-throw? Someone else not paying attention or not able to pay attention in the field of play should not penalize your game and cost you potentially thousands of dollars to an error not caused by yourself.
Love Calvin but was pulling for Kevin. We didn't seem him much on lead last year. Would have been great to see him take this one. Gibson tied for 4th. Hope to see him back on lead card a few times this year as well.
@@PeteEHthe spotter was probably getting drive distances for the coverage, hence the rangefinder. But it does also serve as a sort of binocular replacement so I would’ve hoped he had seen that disc coming lol
@@lossprevails I don't think he was a spotter. Spotters have flags, not range finders. Most likely was a person who measures distances for UDisc. And yes to PeteE. Usually there is 6X magnifying in range finders. Really difficult to see a disc through a range finder. It is a lot easier to see a disc without range finder. Problem are certain color discs. All the dark colors and blue discs are very difficult for spotters. Blue disappears against the sky. Also dark and green discs agaist woods and forest. In some cases disc becomes visible only 100 ft before landing. DIrect sunlight can cause similar problems, and darkness of course. I don't think they expected a throw that long. Still this should never happen, but happens sometimes. Fortunately I never been hit by a disc while being an official, spotter or something else. You have to be on the fairway though if you are a spotter or a camera man. You can't really see where disc crosses OB line if you don't follow the disc from the beginning. You need to know when the throw happens. Using a range finder on a fairway during a thow is a bad idea though or standing in a fairway and not following players and discs.

It's exactly what you guys said. Kevin didn't lose this tournament. Calvin just came out and beat him. Kev played great, he stuck to his gameplan, didn't get too in his head, almost nailed that last throw in. We will be seeing this exact same lead card again this season at some point I believe

Bring back the old scoreboard. So hard to follow what place people are in on the back 9. Plus, seeing the scoreboards side-by-side during the hole lets you compare instead of waiting for the person to throw/the end of the current throw.

I feel like Calvin always starts out the year very strong and the deeper they get into the back part of the season he just fades. At least last year. So if he knows why that happened and it's something he can fix then yea dude could be set up for a monster of a season.

You can't have something like what happened on hole 10 on AB's drive. Absolutely ridiculous. You can see it coming from 400 feet away and the dude's job is literally to watch the disc. There needs to be some sort of process in place that would negate an OB penalty if the disc was clearly not going to go OB without the sabotage.
Not a huge AB guy, but spotters really need to be off out of the field of play on the course. Most of them also seem to be not paying much attention, or being overly energetic with a disc flying towards them. Second, why the hell was that guy right there? It is very obvious if you are in a bunker or not. He should have been nearer to the sidewalk OB to flag there. AB should not have been stroked and got to play where he hit the flagger. I don’t want to hear any sports analogy with football or baseball, where there are officials on the field, as in golf there aren’t fans and officials scattered throughout the fairway like in Disc Golf. Disc Golf honestly has a lot of work to do in general with all the inconsistencies in rules and other problems. That single throw could have cost AB the tournament and THOUSANDS of dollars. All around terrible for the game…

It's so confusing trying to tell who is in the lead or in contention when all 4 scores aren't on the screen. Please change it back so you can see the entire card's score more than once per hole
I love Jomez and go to for watching pro tour coverage. I liked that last year had name and total round score displayed for each player at all times. Feels like I am always having a hard time to keep track of the players with it constantly cycling in the new style on the lower left corner rather than a banner across the bottom. Jomez guys, you are the best! Your coverage is honestly far more superior than the one I paid for.
Thankfully it didn't end up mattering....but no way should AB's drive on 10 have counted as OB. A guy can't get out of the way and directly punts that disc into the Hazard? AB threw a perfect drive and gets penalized for a guy that shouldn't be standing there in the first place. That's just making him lose a stroke for no good reason.

You could really make these idiots happy if you just show an extra column with the scores thru the same amount of holes as the lead card, as well as the scores thru the current amount of holes. These ppl are so frustratingly ignorant to how golf is scored and coverage is shown for the golfers currently playing each hole. They explained it perfectly. The players want to know what their opponent is at thru their current hole position on the course because it dictates how they’re going to play. I really think these people would shut up if you just said, _“Hey, look, (insert chase card name here) was at -6 on hole 9 where this card is now. However, he’s now at -10 but he’s teeing off at hole 16 at the moment. He shot
-4 of the next 6 holes. Okay, check in later…”_
I think that’s way too much for players to track. Imo, they’d rather just have a number to chase down.
@@nickycharles9699 you may think that but you’re not a professional disc golfer are you? These guys want as much info on the course as possible when they’re playing. It helps them tremendously with keeping a positive headspace though it can also cause a negative one if they aren’t playing well. Some players don’t check it. Most do at the end of a tournament. It’s not “too much” for any of them.
If you looked at just the scorecard you would think that KJ blew it but I don’t think the case at all. Dude played so good, but CH played at an incredible level on the back nine. KJ stuck to his game plan, some of those putts down the stretch were sick. On the last hole, Calvin gets a little lucky and KJ gets super unlucky with that air drop but then nearly throws it in, what a cooler. Great coverage, great event!

You shouldn't be a volunteer on a hole if you can't read how a disc is flying through the air. Its ridiculous a player gets penalized for someone elses negligence... Hole 10, a disc is flying at you so get out of the way..
please bring back the full card scores displayed at all times!! strange choice from a production standpoint-- i wouldn't expect a team to choose to provide *less* pertinent information on-screen than before. i doubt anyone felt the old graphics were in the way of the video. thank you!
AB shouldn’t have been penalized for somebody not getting out of the way. The guy got hit in bounds and AB should be able to drop for free in bounds. The rule for that sucks.

Great coverage! Hope you dont mind if I throw a couple ideas in the suggestion box:
1. For the leaderboard display, is it possible to give rows (players) who have finished their play a slightly different shading. That would help more easily see who is currently playing and who is already done without having to glance at the last column.
2. Super minor, but It would be kinda cool if when the player finishes a hole and the hole score graphic is displayed (e.g. BIRDIE, PAR, BOGEY, etc), that their displayed leaderboard position also visibly scrolled up or down. Currently the leaderboard position is updated as soon as the score graphic disappears, but it would draw more attention to the change if the leaderboard position scrolled down or up as the score graphic comes up.

Bring back the full bottom scroecard. Its much nicer being able watch along without being able to see the stroke differences between everyone at all times.Especially at the start of each hole.
I feel bad for Kev, but his game plan was pretty bad down the stretch. His last birdie was on hole 11.

@jomezpro great coverage, only thing that I don't like is that the scorecards show their position at that time, not as of whatsoever hole they are on. Example, Anthony barella started tied for 5th at the beginning of the final rouns according to the scorecard. Think that's a bit confusing

Someone else not paying attention or not able to pay attention in the field of play should not penalize your game and cost you potentially thousands of dollars to an error not caused by yourself.

@@PeteEHthe spotter was probably getting drive distances for the coverage, hence the rangefinder. But it does also serve as a sort of binocular replacement so I would’ve hoped he had seen that disc coming lol
@@lossprevails I don't think he was a spotter. Spotters have flags, not range finders. Most likely was a person who measures distances for UDisc.
And yes to PeteE. Usually there is 6X magnifying in range finders. Really difficult to see a disc through a range finder. It is a lot easier to see a disc without range finder.
Problem are certain color discs. All the dark colors and blue discs are very difficult for spotters. Blue disappears against the sky. Also dark and green discs agaist woods and forest. In some cases disc becomes visible only 100 ft before landing. DIrect sunlight can cause similar problems, and darkness of course.
I don't think they expected a throw that long. Still this should never happen, but happens sometimes. Fortunately I never been hit by a disc while being an official, spotter or something else. You have to be on the fairway though if you are a spotter or a camera man. You can't really see where disc crosses OB line if you don't follow the disc from the beginning. You need to know when the throw happens.
Using a range finder on a fairway during a thow is a bad idea though or standing in a fairway and not following players and discs.
