Would have been better if they had actually kept somewhat true to the books where Kaa is a good guy, but no snakes have to be bad.
Kinda wish Kaa had more screen time too. It was WAY too quick. In the original there were two encounters between Kaa and Mowgli. I just think Scarlett hit it out of the park . Her voice is both haunting and soothing

There's something about Scarlett Johansson's voice that really makes you feel like you're being hypnotized. With Kaa in the original cartoon, he just kind of doofy to me. And he did it well, but Johansson does a great job of making them intimidating.

boru25 And it is all the problem there: Disney makes fun totally of the original work, in the book, Kaa is a friend and a mentor of Mowgli, he helps same Bagherra and Balow to save him from monkeys, while in movies, it is a bad guy, to believe that the kind snakes, that does not exist (that has to be a golden rule at Disney)

I absolutely adore this song! The scene with Kaa and Mowgli was simply amazing, it was so well done. I got shivers and felt genuienly creeped out! Her voice is so hypnotic, and convincing. I wouldn't say sinister, but that feeling of something's not quite right. When this song started playing at the end I freaked out, her voice fits the character of Kaa PERFECTLY. This movie was stunning

This song has been covered by so many major bands and singers through the years. Far more, believe it or not, than any other song from The Jungle Book. To put a spin on it that sounds new and fantastic is a difficult task. Scarlett's fantastic new version is as much a tribute to them as it is in it's faithfulness to Sterling Holloway. She's done Siouxsie and the Banshees especially proud!!
Weirdly what I imagine when I listen to this is a silhouetted Bondish figure falling through loads of coiling snakes getting further and further sucked up by the jungle around him. Basically I love this song and it would make a good bond song..

On that note, not that i did not like the theme's from Casino Royale, Skyfall and Spectre but i really hope the next bond movie will have a really classic James Bond song for it's theme. I think they should have put all three songs in this movie. It would be the only way King Louie's sudden singing would make any sense. Like, couldn't they just have the characters references to the songs segue into the actual song itself? I can see it perfectly with Kaa:

It's 100% auto-tuned, sorry. Producers use vocal correction on the vast majority of pop music these days, especially on non-professional singers. The plugin can be used subtly and tastefully like this, however.

I was always intrigued by Kaa growing up as I watched The Jungle Book countless times, but this makes it even better and as mysterious and beautiful as the jungle itself. They couldn't have chosen anyone better to provide the voice for one of the most intricate Disney villains I've ever known, Scarlett Johansson is perfect for a female Kaa and her performance of Trust In Me will forever make me want to take a mysterious walk through the jungle anytime. I always loved the idea of a female Kaa. It just fits, especially with this version. I mean, come on, this is the EXACT voice I imagine for a snake that uses seduction and lies to lure in her prey. It´s kind of like a siren song: the one singing has very bad intentions, but her voice is just so beautiful that you can´t resist. And the melody itself is just so haunting... loved it! :D
