Man, I was already inspired by this dude, but to hear him say how he was so inspired as the lad of a missionary in PNG when they had the opportunity to fly some remote locations.....well the fact that he went on and achieved his dream was no easy task or road.
So glad to see this insight, thx for the interview

Thanks for the very interesting interview. I first became aware of Ryan's channel via Jodel Flyer's vids, as you say, watching Ryan going in to some of those strips puts your heart rate up.

The reason people watch Ryan is because of his engaging personality, spectacular scenery, white knuckle landings, challenges, and his overall enthusiasm of loving what he is doing that comes through in every video.

Well done for doing this video. I love watching bush pilots/aviation. I did a lot of off airport flying with my dad and his friends, fields, farms etc. In hindsight I wish I'd been a bush pilot, valuable work, worthwhile job with a purpose or purposes. Thanks to both of you.

I think that one reason People like it is because it is purpose driven flying rather than just playing around with the airplane. And the airstrips that you go into are so interesting. Also I have a BIG interest in mission aviation. Our Church is still flying 206s and 182s in the Philippines, Central America, South America and in the USA and Canada. Right now with the monster storms, I do not know what our condition is in the Philippines. However I believe a 182 is being purpose refitted and rebuilt to be transported to the Philippines from the USA when it is done. How are the Helicopters used? They may be safer but the gigantic cost is why one uses Airplanes on not so nice jungle strips or so I thought. Another reason I watch is that I like the Kodiak. The Kodiak was made to replace the 206 in part because 100LL is sometimes hard to get in mission locations and vary expensive. Jet A is everywhere at less cost....

I really love watching Ryans videos but when he mentioned the missions are teaching the native inhabitants the bible I was gobsmacked. These people have been living successfully for hundreds of thousands of years, then along comes westerners and start converting them to 'better" ways??? Seriously I am confounded. 😥

Many of the tribes had such a high murder rate (90% of their people died by homicide) that being shown way of forgiveness changed their culture for the better. No more revenge murders. Really, please read The End of the Spear by Steve Saint. So amazing! The people no longer live in fear daily for their own lives and family's lives.

Landing in the bushes doesn't make you a bush pilot!!
