I do not get this whole democratic talking point for the Brexit. I might have a fundamental different opinion what democraty means. But to me basically saying: "We used to be more then 'them' a few years ago, so now we get to ignore the votes of the 16 million who voted to remain in the EU!"
This is not how government in a democracy should work. Democracy is about finding a consent all can live with. It is not about winning over a supposed 'other side'. Let's get real here: the result of the referendum was not "We should leave the EU". It was "about half of us want to leave and the other half want to remain". And the conclusion should have been "OK that was a wast of time".
Maybe the UK should have been split up so the part that wants to leave the EU can leave and the rest can stay. This would at the very least be democratic. Forcing your idea on people just because you are (or used to be) the majority is not democratic. It is tyranny. It is basically not that different from having a king, or the aristocracy forcing their ideas onto you.
