Happy Birthday Kelly! Don't be bummed out about 30! Although I had a very good life before 30 years old, ALL of my adventures, accomplishments and just a better and more exciting lifestyle began at 35. The best years of my life were from 35 to now, which is 70 next month. Your entire life may have just started at 28 but 30 is just another milestone along the way! Enjoy it, have fun, it just gets better from here.

I’ll be 60in March, twice your age, but I’d still love to hang out with you(if I could keep up!)on trail or anywhere, you always have fun. If you’re ever back in north Georgia, stop by and maybe hike Raven Cliffs with me, it’s only 5 miles total out and back, but my favorite local hike.

I love Sugar Mountain. A good friend of mine coaches cross country at Lees-McRay College in Banner Elk. We also snowboarded at App Mountain. That whole area around Boone is great!
Those are the very special kind of gifts James is so sweet. Kelly don't worry about numbers age is what you feel enjoy every day to the fullest. At going on 64 I have been hiking and camping since I thru hiked the A.T. in 1979 And I am still loving the outdoors maybe I've slowed a bit but I'm that's okay. Take care and Happy late Birthday.
Must have been an interesting feeling at 18:06 seeing other backpackers while y'all were out day-hiking (unless that was an 2021 clip to go with your "great memories" clip) Maybe like seeing yourselves from a distance.
You should go to Roan Mtn in June when the Rhododendrens are in bloom. It's so beautiful.

C'mon Kelly, 30 is just a number, granted a big one. Happy Birthday!
You need to come hike Sassafras mountain here in South Carolina. It takes you up the prettiest viewing platform where you can see SC and NC and it’s the tallest mountain in South Carolina. Next time your near highlands you need to go to to Dry falls. It’s a giant waterfall you can walk behind and a little further down the road is bridal veil falls which is a Waterfall that is literally next to the road that you use to be able to drive behind.
Thanks for keeping us up to date with your adventures. And now you're in gator infested Florida! Quite a difference.

I was up exactly where you are filming last Aug. I picked a ton of blueberries. I heard there was a small fire that burned a lot of the blueberries just up from the road. I haven't been up there since, did you see a burn scar? it was a brush fire only I believe. I also hiked on the other side of the road up to the "Roan high knob shelter" and saw your signature there.
That Katadin sign is an incredible gift - it's beautiful! I always scratch my head at the skiiers and snowboarders doing their thing with grass and mud on either side, talk about dedication to the sport. 😂 Looks like it was a lovely trip and I always find myself craving Mexican after watching you two... 🤔

This was a very heartfelt and beautiful video. I love that you guys got to spend New Years together and return to where it all began on the trail.
The dirty thirties can seem scary but I promise your youth remains and you're ever beautiful. I know I said it before but in your thirties your body still does everything you ask of it, but it lets you know the next day that you did it 😂.
Look at it this way.
Your thirties are the teenager years of adulthood.

Oh you bought a drone. Nice aerial shots 🙂 Be careful where you fly. It's illegal to fly in national parks and the AT is a national park. Wouldn't want to see you paying a 5k fine.
@S. M. The DJI fly app will tell you where not to fly. I don't think it will even take off in a restricted zone. Barring that the B4you fly app shows which zones are restricted. Also monetized video means she needs a part 107 license.
