1 This reading made me think of my old "friend". They went through horrible things, and they would repeat to me that it's awful to tell people to visualise and "be positive". And yes, they were right, but not entirely. It's bad to do that because you don't want to deal with someone "oh just stay positive!" because you don't want to actually help that person. But it's not bad when you genuinely want to improve yours or someone elses life, and it will show in your behaviour. Toxic positivity is fear and denial, REAL positivity is compassion, understanding and patience. If you immediately dismiss positive affirmations as someone trying to suggest you to harm yourself, without even thinking what that person means or if the positive thinking they are suggesting comes from a place of care, you are hurt. And there's nothing wrong with that, it just needs to be acknowledged and dealt with.
