This is KENWOOD approved! Great video guys!
Finally some innovation again! What a game changer for some vehicles
They beat me to it 😂 wanted this 3 years ago 😂
I even asked them if they can make a cable for the dmx 1057xr so I can install the brain somewhere else and unfortunately they nop 😅
These are way better than i was expecting, ngl. Good job Kenwood/JVC!
definitely a game changer !!!! that video at the end will keep me up at night for sure . i cant wait to get this to the customers an install one !!
10th/11th Gen Honda bois are patiently waiting
Nice seeing you guys at show. Going to be a game changer!!
Finally excited about a radio. Those are truly sick. Toslink out for DSP is the cherry on top.
Installation price is gonna be bananas
Great to see someone taking chances and trying something new.
Great review boys. Keep up the great work!
I am sooo stoked for this.
4:45 You guys are right on time! My 2018 armadas LH speakers on the Bose are acting up.... running all right inputs with y-adaptors as we speak
I’d like to replace the head unit on my 2017 so I can finally be in the 21st Century.
I'm ready to spend money I don't have! I NEED this. It's about time!
I'm with you. It's about time
Finally some innovation. I'm hoping they also come with an ambient light sensor. To automatically adjust the brightness of the screen depending on how bright it is in the cabin. Living in Florida and having to deal with sun showers. I need to turn on my headlights on the rain but the radio dims to the point where I can't see it. I then have to manually change the brightness. I feel like the dimmer switch wire should only turn on the button lights. and the screen should adjust brightness like a smartphone. I can't belive all aftermarket radios don't have this feature standard. My 2016 VW has this feature built into the oem radio and it's amazing.
Finally something for GM truck 2019-2023 been waiting all this time
Great video! I have been waiting for this
Patiently waiting for my Integra…. 🤞🏽
Oh my God this is exciting to see.
I am so hopeful that they make a solution for the Maverick
It is on the list
Awesome that they're adding an optical output! Do y'all know if it will be on the new 1058XR as well?
Per what they said, yes. Optical output available on Kenwood XR units only.
It was a little vague. "Optical Output available on Kenwood XR" was in reference to the floating 8" vs the non XR and JVC units. I cannot find an announcement from Kenwood yet and have not found any pics of the back of the unit. I REALLY hope that the Toslink is also on the 1058XR!
That's not what I heard. I heard XR only. That being said, only the release of the unit you're interested in will answer that question.
Yes it will have it
Thank you for the clarification. Appreciate it!
Love to see integration with any of the Lexus vehicles. Their old infotainment was horrible, and the fact that HVAC was integrated makes upgrades impossible on many of the GX, Rx and LX models.
Can. Not. Wait!!!
Any date when theses will release
My GOD it’s finally happening!! I wanted that 2 years ago!!! Hopefully in this model they fixed the the wireless CarPlay crashing when driving in specific areas this was a huge pain! Hopefully with this I can literally install the head unit on the amp rack and the screen on the front (will definitely do some extension cables😅)
This is like the old school 2 piece Rockford fosgate 7 inch flip out from back in day.
seriously when will i be able to replace my screen in a C7 corvette.... that end video just blew my mind
Thats what brought me here... I am REALLY interested in this for my 5th gen camaro since its just a display. Especially for a 2nd gen CTS hopefully. This would be amazing.
I’m hoping it will work with my 2020 Traverse and its motorized display!
Looks like Bigg Daddies getting an upgrade in my 17 F150!
Can I finally replace the OEM radio on the 2017 Nissan Armada?????
in the words of Macho man Randy Savage...."OOOHHHHHHH YYYYEEEEAAAAAA!!!!"
Wow, awesome stuff, but hopefully next year they will have something for the 12” screen on the 2024/2025 Ford Broncos full size! This will work great for my wife’s 2021, but I hope to be buying myself a 2025 this year.
Why would you wanna replace the 12” factory head unit in your new bronco?
I wish that mustang kit could be modified to work on the 2010-2012 Ford fusion/milan. Very similar layout to that mustang in the models that came with navigation
I see more business coming your way!
I see they're making a 1058xr but are they going to make a 1008xr that will have navigation built in?
Great Video do you have pricing on the units?
Was about a month away from ordering the K150 and a 1057xr. Sure hoping the price of the 1050xr and this arrangement are, at least, around the price of what i was planning on as i have a limited budget. I'll have to confirm the 3-way crossover function too, before i can commit.
I wonder what they will have for Double Dins Radios?
not on Kenwood website yet nice
I seen that the Dax 800 XR has the weather forecast will it also have traffic information and built in navigation?
Finally
Can you guys let me know if ya got any info on any plug and play kits for a 2011 Honda accord with Navi
@FiveStarCarStereo
Thank You D&F and Kenwood/JVC & iDataLink Maestro!
Questions:
What is Different about the iDataLink Maestro APX compared to the AR & RR?
What's the Screen Resolution for the new Kenwood XRs?
Toslink Output. Is it Fixed Full Level output or Variable Level with the HU Volume Control...or switchable between the two?
Dean, you mentioned that the Toslink output is either 48k or 96k depending on the file that is being played...
I was hoping that the Kenwood XR units with Toslink output would have Dual Digital Crystal Clock Oscillators to accommodate both 44.1k & 88.2k AND 48k & 96k sample rates. Notice that each pair are multiples of the base Sample Rate, i.e. 44.1 x 2 = 88.2, and 48 x 2 = 96.
To play both subsets "natively" without odd-order multiples that require Sample Rate Conversion via software (dodgy and resource intensive), the DAC needs two separate crystal oscillators.
Otherwise, for instance when we play our files that are rip'd from 16/44.1 CDs, or any other 16/44.1k digital file (the most common by far), the DAC will have to use software SRC (Sample Rate Conversion) to upsample all of the 44.1k files to 48k, which is a different multiple and not true "native" digital playback.
This is a problem with the Stinger HEIGH10 & HORIZON10 as well, which also outputs Toslink at 48k.
48k is the standard base sample rate for audio that's used in VIDEO, so I can understand why they chose it for compatibility. But for listening to digital AUDIO alone, it's not the ideal implementation.
^YEAH, I'm being Super Nitpicky! 😁
I also wish that at some point we could finally move away from crappy 1980s Composite Video signals and connections for our exterior cameras! It's 2025 and we have 4k and 8k! For car use 1080P is good enough, but it's more so the Poor Quality SIGNAL via old Composite Video that I'm complaining about.
But don't get me wrong, I'm really stoked about these new offerings in the Kenwood eXcellon Reference lineup, as I'm using several of the current XR HUs in my various vehicles now and I love them (except for the outdated Graphics & Icons).
However, I also have the Sony XAV-9000ES now as well, and IMO it sounds better than the current Kenwood XR units from the analog RCA outputs. Hopefully the new Kenwood XR units have bumped up the quality a bit to match the Sony ES. :)
Thanks for the big news!
but will they have the big dual curved OLED screens that they put in all the newer SUV and cars
?
Gentlemen you have made my weekend... I'm just hoping the price is comparable to linkswell
The XR units are over double the price of a Linkswell....but it also has audio grade components and will work flawlessly with Maestro
Linkswell is about $2k so these units are going to be $4,000?
they need to make something for the 2000s BMWs to connect to Idrive CCC and CIC
Are all XR models coming with toslink from here on out? If so that's gonna be a game changer. I wish they would come out with a radio with integrated DSP then we won't even need toslink to DSP.....
So glad i didnt pull the trigger on a radio for my flex im wating for this
When is the 1058xr going to be released? Any improvements over the 1057xr?
Do they have these for a Benz e350? 2013.
Any idea if the 1050XR will interface with the oem backup camera in the Jeep wrangler/gladiator?
OEM backup cameras on those are digital. The Kenwood radios have an HD camera input but it's still an analog signal, so you'd still need the converter to use the factory camera
The 1058 screen still looks too thick. I’ve had a 957xr since 2021 and have zero complaints. I can fiberglass and I’ll slam one as deep as I can. Might check out the remote body one. Tough to decide.
Got a question for you guys: Do the big boys like Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, JVC or Kenwood make a radio that takes a sim card like some of the overseas companies like Atoto?
where can i see this? website? thanks
When can we buy it?
Will there be ANY kits for the JBL "Premium" 12" options for Toyota coming out? It's like I'm being punished for purchasing a modern Highlander Platinum. If not for the floating 10", maybe the 1058XR? Kenwood and iDatalink, throw us a bone.
What about one for the ram 1500 8 inch
8:30 is the kit for the Ram
Does anyone know the retail price of DAX800XR and the kit harness combo.
GR86/BRZ replacement dash with 8" radio please. I know its a niche vehicle but would be great to have the larger screen without needing to get a floater. 7" double din looks like dog doo in the metra kit.
cmon, gimme a 12" Wrangler screen with an eXcelon backend.
Anything for the Ford Maverick?
In another comment Dean said it was on the list. 👍
idatalink maestro if you are reading this, when are you going to decode Kia k5 radios.
Whoa wait why do I never hear about my Honda?! The dang kit cost 400 and of course is Honda like wave 4798?! Lol...yeah yeah u explained at the end but I always gotta wait and my helix dsp is hungry for a dang head unit worthy of all the money in amps and speakers errrr
Can someone actually produce a replacement system for 2022+ ford mavericks?!
Anyone know an available date?
He said March.
now they need to do the 2012 and newer lexus is 250/350 and early 2000s acura rls.
Yes, they need something for the early Acuras. Currently I have an older 2nd gen TL with the Navigation Screen, it would be sweet if they come out with a kit to replace the older nav system.
Are you telling me I can finally upgrade my screen in my ford flex?
Hopefully they will fix wifi issues with carplay and android auto
What issues are you having?
I've never had any problems with my current Kenwood XR units in that regard.
If it's a Wired connection, its most likely the CABLE that is the issue. But Wireless AA & ACP work flawlessly with my XR head units.
@bbfoto7248 I'm from Australia so we don't get the xr radios but I have a few years old Kenwood unit in my personal car and use current model Kenwood alpine pioneer and Sony units at work and all of them are suffering from wifi related drop outs drive in to a particular area of our town and AA wireless just cuts out the radio I have won't auto connect either it's an older model so I'm not to fazed about that part
@bbfoto7248 and yeah good quality short cables been in industry for 9yrs

Ahhh...I didn't realize you were in Oz, mate. I live in the States, but my mum's from Brisbane and one of my sisters still lives there as well.
I've got aunts & uncles and heaps of nieces and nephews all over Oz, from Cairns to Brisbane, Sydney (St. Ives & Bondi), and even a niece working as a doctor in Longreach! I used to have a flat at Bondi as well way back in the late 80s/early 90s. Married a sheila from Cronulla. ;)
Pick up a cheap "Frequency Counter" or "Frequency Scanner" and use it while you drive around and note the frequency it locks onto when you get the dropouts in wireless AA or CarPlay.
Might be nearby Cell Towers or other new civic/aviation RF communications interference overpowering the 2.4ghz/5ghz WiFi signal. BT LE is very low power and a similar frequency as well and is easily overwhelmed.
But….can you easily dim the screen at night (should be as easy as a cell phone) and can you see it in sunlight???
Asking for a…….customer. lol 🤞🏼
Watts up
No mopar love
Wrong
4:26 - This singlehandedly doubles the value of Infinitis...lol...their infotainment is DISPISED.
Nothing for Audi’s 😞
What YEAR & model Audi?
2019 Audi A3. Would love to finally have CarPlay 😀
@@bbfoto7248 2014 Audi s3 there some Chinese replacement screens but would like a kenwood etc
Second
First.
or you could just buy an android head unit
those are cheap chinese junk that do no integrate well with factory stuff.
@moparjr89 so the one I just found while doing a google search for 1190.00 is by far not a cheap android stereo, and it also integrates with all the factory controls, so sure there "might" be some cheaper android stereo out there but not all of them are cheap.

LOL, I just found this old in-car demo recording I did in my buddy's car way back in 2018 on one of my Hard Drives, LOL.
This basic system uses the older 2018 KENWOOD eXcelon Reference DDX9905S HU Powering a Passive 6.5" 2-way front stage setup in OEM Door & A-pillar locations + Four 8" Subs under the rear cargo floor.
ONLY using the "DSP" in the Kenwood XR head unit just as an EXAMPLE of what they can do WITHOUT a separate DSP and with PASSIVE crossovers, LOL.
Please give it a listen WITH HEADPHONES/Earbuds/IEMs if you're interested.
DEMO TRACK DOWNLOAD BELOW!
Go to the Bottom of the Comment for the Download Link!
COPY & PASTE of some Details and background.of the system setup:
This is an IN-CAR Recording I did of a very simple budget system that I helped my friend install in one of his cars many years ago.
I'd like to get your feedback on the SQ and recording, please. ☺
I normally install very high-end full DSP SQ systems, but my buddy was on a very strict budget and we were also under a very short time window to get everything installed. I think it turned out pretty good considering the significant limitations, so please have a listen! ;)
SORRY, it's a LONG Sound Clip with all kinds of music, so it's a 183mb 320kbps MP3 file to keep the file size low, but was originally recorded in 24/96 with a ZOOM H6 & a pair of XLR studio microphones. You can skip ahead.
In the Sound Clip I give a breakdown of the system and what was installed, but:
- HEAD UNIT - Kenwood eXcelon Reference DDX9905S head unit...We only used the "DSP", T/A, & Global EQ in the Head Unit. NO Separate DSP, so there are obviously serious limitations! But it Sounds pretty dang Good regardless.
- SPEAKERS - Alpine SPX-17PRO 2-way 6.5" component set in OEM front door locations & tweeters in modified OEM Sail Panels On-Axis. Powered by the Built-In Head Unit Speaker Outputs & using Passive Crossovers! Yeah, I KNOW, I KNOW !!! ...but due to time constraints & budget, that's how it was set up. Don't tell me that we needed to use a "REAL" DSP, LOL. I know.
- SOUND DEADENING (lots) in just the two front doors and rear cargo subwoofer area in a compact SUV with rear hatch. No Rear Fill in this Demo.
- SUBWOOFERS - FOUR 8" Polk Audio MM840 4-ohm SVC subs in sealed enclosure (0.45 cf each, ~1.8 cf sealed total). Klippel verified 25mm Xmax! The custom 3/4" braced MDF enclosure is hidden under the rear OEM cargo floor and spans the full width of the car between the rear wheel wells, & the 4 subs fire forward horizontally partially under and partially into the back of the 2nd Row seats with a few inches of an air gap for excursion. This resulted in Very Even response and modal performance with no midbass/subwoofer cancellation nulls in the driver's seat. :) The LPF & T/A in the head unit was used for the subs.
- SUBWOOFER AMPLIFIER - One 2nd Gen Alpine PDX F-6 4-channel rated at 4 x 150w @ 4-ohms. Each of the 4 channels is connected to One of the Four 4-ohm subs. This amp actually does 190w x 4 @ 4-ohms.
It's a "Stealth" install and the rear cargo floor looks entirely OEM with ZERO rear cargo space lost. Fully Usable. The spare tire is outside and under the rear of the car from the OEM.
PLEASE LISTEN with HEADPHONES!!!
Thanks!
