    A fantastic piece of craftsmanship I would be very interested in seeing the gearing for this build

    For light duty work traveling assembly can also be mounted under the top. Great execution of the concept, really makes the gears in the head spin with design play. Double up for rigidity with bearings in hard wood and you can eliminate the crossing over middle dowels or use as sliding shelf mounting method with travel bar under and more. Already half 'Steampunk-ed'.

    Nice work. This is a great demonstrator for wood gears and the scissor lift concept.
    I built a single stage scissor lift about 6 weeks ago. I was disappointed because it can't lift much weight at the bottom due to inherent force multiplication because of the geometry. It was also very wobbly being made from wood. Wooden lifts make fun toys but aren't very good for lifting much weight.

      Thanks. I have to agree with your opinion, although I believe that some improvements can make device like this more functional.

      +DM Idea I found that having tight joints helped. Making the starting height higher or getting the threaded rods further away from the first joint greatly increases capacity because the mechanical advantage is much better. Of course, using steel allows much higher lift capacity and stiffness.
      Thanks for posting your design. Yours looks much nicer than mine.

    So, you think you are smart and skilled because you build this Scissor lift? Well, you should. Very nice work. What do you expected? a rude comment from random viewer? Not this time...

    Seeing it up and down, that is more fun to watch than the spinner toy.

    Hi! My name is Anna. I'm a London Metropolitan University student at architecture.
    I have seen your "homemade scissor lift" and it fits perfectly in my concept. Can I please have drawings of your fantastic lift? Of course I will mention you as an author of mechanism in my paperwork.

    If you capture a threaded rod coupling nut in the cross strut and float one end of the threaded rods then only the strut travels and the rods don't come poking out. The whole gearbox assembly can be part of a table top, it doesn't need to be part of bottom.

    This is awesome.. just what I need for my project. I've been checking you website, but can't find any sketchs or anything that helps me to build. I saw you have a lot of projects in there. Will you be willing to sell those plans? Thanks

      Unfortunately, I don't have plans for this lift mechanism. I build it on the fly, without any sketches or video. Sorry

    Suggestion: If you fix the allthread at the gears and make the lose nut on the other end, your allthread will stay inside your baseplate and will not protrude

  • @selenewootton7720

    How did you fasten the actually scissor lift together, what did you use for the joints between each peice. Hope that makes sense.

  • @RastafarianPilgrim
    @RastafarianPilgrim 8 лет назад

    If one were to allow the metal rods to pass through the unfastened "leg" of the lift, as opposed to the current opposite setup, would this allow the rods that, with the current setup, extend "outside" the device, to instead stay inside the box bottom?

    • @danielmiskoidea
      @danielmiskoidea  8 лет назад

      The only problem with this setup, will be that the whole mechanism (gears) have to move with it.

    • @RastafarianPilgrim
      @RastafarianPilgrim 8 лет назад

      DM Idea Necessarily? If the gears turn the rod, and the thread of the rod forces the unattached leg of the device, then the gears (and pull) could easily be stationary, or am I imagining this wrong?

    • @danielmiskoidea
      @danielmiskoidea  8 лет назад +1

      You're right, it can be done. It's just easier this way when working with wood.
