When I first landed on Tallon IV is my favorite gaming memory of all time. I had been so sceptical of the 3D adaptation and knew they would fail following up on Super Metroid. When that rain hit the visor and the music started I put down my control and knew instantly that I was going to experience something extraordinary. There is nothing like Metroid Prime all these years later.
Played the remaster on NS! Worth the $40. No lifed this game for 5 days straight, 10h a day. Played thru the game 4 times, completed it 3 times over (each file with each difficulty). Absolute completion, nothing left for me to do. Most fun I've had since I completed Dread 5 times over I wanted play Echoes and Corruption remasters before Beyond, but oh well
Metroid Prime on Primehack was my very first introduction to the Metriod games and it blew my mind and now I'm hooked. I've played the 3 Prime games and I juste finished Zero Mission. I can't describe how much I enjoyed discovering Metroid Prime and the amount of fun I had streaming the game to my friend who suggested I played it. The game is just so well-made and the music is always so catchy and unique ! I love this game so much
I wonder if the elemental effects on the various arm cannon upgrades were (or could be) restored. For anyone who doesn't know, some of the visual effects of the original Prime release were missing in the Trilogy version, which is what this is based on.
I never played Metroid, besides messing around and giving up on Super Metroid 😆, until 2009, when I went to Walmart, had some extra cash for a game and I saw the Steelbook Metroid Prime Trilogy for $80. I'm like: 'I don't know what it is, but it's three games, and they look cool', so I picked it up... best gaming decision ever! Each of the three games has it's own flavor, but I love each of them. And yeah, the soundtrack is killer - I listen to it regularly while not gaming.
just got a switch recently and metroid dread was one of my first games. I definitely need to download this, the gamecube era was amazing and seeing this on pc blows me away
Primehack is an absolute marvel. The custom "textures" displaying the keyboard bindings are such a small thing, yet they make such a drastic difference. After playing this with hd-textures, I'm 100% sure we do not need remasters, Prime 4 will do just fine.
Just finished Metroid Prime 1 with primehack and oh my god it feels good. The mouse and keyboard controls feel like the game was made with m&k in mind.
The micro stutters you mentioned having. I enabled "Exclusive Ubershaders" under the Shader Compilation section and they disappeared for me. Might be worth a try yourself! Also, I am using the Vulkan API instead of DX11 as it is a better graphics API. May need to do the same, not sure.
You’re NOT into scanning??? That’s what makes the game stand apart and feel like such a fun explorer! Defo my fave part. I scanned EVERYTHING to learn about the world
This is awesome because (and I implore anyone reading to try it before primehack) the Wii version already felt amazing after binding the mouse to the Wii motion controls and wasd to the movement. With internal resolution upscaling it is quite nice. That being said, I'm surprised this is a thing!
It's actually shocking how many people I can tell about this game and have those same people go ehh, but then for those whom actually listen to me and play the damn game they end up thanking me and really enjoying it. I wish people just stopped being so stubborn or whatever and just play it..
Back in the day, before primehack, I got my friend to make his own hack for mouse support. I played through the whole game WITHOUT the lock on feature. Got to Metroid Prime, and got walled, I couldn't beat the final boss without lock on and had to quit. :o
I think the reason why Metroid Prime is so brilliant is that they managed to implement that extra mile with sets it apart from your usual FPS game (I believe it is actually marketed as an FPA from Nintendo, standing for First Person Adventure). The extra mile being the very technology of Samus Aran's suit, since it becomes tangible to us and translates into vital game mechanics. You use it to gather information about pretty much everything around you and I can't help but feeling like Samus Aran herself as as I'm playing this. The moment which was the most immersive for me is when I tried to go into a submerged area before getting the Varia Suit and my field of view was extremely limited and my movements were awkward and clunky. I almost fell the pressure of the water around the suit ahah. Amazing game! It's quite rare for me to write a comment on RUclips but I just wanted to share my love and thank you for sharing this hack with this video. I played it for the first time around 4 years ago, since I had skipped the Gamecube back then and once I moved to the UK this and Eternal Darkness were the very first retrogames I purchased. Last but not least, when I realised the hand of samus changed position according to the beam currently enabled (and that the hand reflected each picture) I was speechless.
Very best GC game and FPS of all time. Story, sound , music, gameplay graphic and detail are awesome. My favourite game on GC. Really immersive and memorable.
Even though I've had to deal with a minor black dot in the middle of the screen for Primehack during cutscenes and so have many others (I've even noticed it on yours when you pulled up the map). This is still the definitive way to play these games. Hoping Primehack gets updated in the future and fully removes the dot. I have OCD, but its bearable. Prime 4 hype is real.
I wish they had made a new Metroid prime every 3 years since 2002 No talking/dialogue, no other characters - Just Samus, puzzles, monster's and backtracking ... plenty of backtracking and getting lost. And getting stuck And having to read lore/hints to find out what the bloody hell to do next ... I LOVED IT!!!!! Sigh!!!
Damn dude, you loved Prime but haven't played Prime 2? You're in for a treat my guy. The atmosphere of the second game is even more.. Dense. Found it kinda terrifying at times as a child. The difficulty is ramped up too, it's the sequel Prime deserved without just repeating too much of the same ideas
Gonna have to try this sometime. I've never got to play metroid prime but I played the mobile versions as a kid and loved them. The fps one on the DS and the side scroller
With reshade, it becomes not only one best games in terms of gameplay, but one of the prettiest games I've ever played too. The atmosphere of the trilogy is just so unique - especially with some reshade glow on your weapons/hud in dark environments
You've reminded me to download Dolphin. Tried playing it on my phone some time ago and recently got a pc. This is going to be fun. This game is a certified classic.
About hitching. Using Ubershaders on graphics tab can help (No stutter). If it is too much for pc, try hybrid Ubershaders (they will hitch only once per area per whole game) For me on gtx 1060 hybrid Ubershaders works flawleslly. And what the most important, turn on option compile shaders before starting
i've had this on pc for quite a while now. played through zero mission, and i started this to keep with the story. couldn't get into it for some reason, even with mods and such to play it play/look amazing. i was to into the 2d style, and still am, but i really need to push thru and play this one to get started with the story in order again.

Some people dislike prime 2, some people prefer prime 2. Prime 2 i feel could be a challenging and interesting game for people who just started playing the series, but for veterans of the series and hardcore gamers, it is full of flaws and problems. Personally, it just makes me frustrated and bored even if it still is a good game overall, it has balancing, exploration and bug problems, but a new player might not see them and enjoy it more than the others
@@raineyoung3291 Funny, I've had the opposite problem. I feel like Prime 1 has a few pretty annoying "where the hell do I go moments" where the hint system seems almost like an obligation, while Prime 2 follows Metroid 2's level design philosophy more closely, which is segregating different areas and having as little to no backtracking as possible. There are literally only three times in Prime 2 where it's *required* to backtrack to an earlier area in a completely different region to get an upgrade (not counting the sky temple keys) whereas Prime 1 has a lot of that. Really the main problem about Prime 2 is the goddamn sky temple keys bullshit, in fact all Prime games have a pretty annoying late game fetch quest (fuck the artifact treasure hunt bullcrap) to artificially extend the game's length, something Retro Studios actually tried to fight against but Nintendo designers made it a requirement because they thought it "brought more value". I disagree, so does Retro Studios. Prime 3 has less of that, but still... Prime 2 is hard at first because you don't get the Dark Suit until a *little* bit later so the dark atmosphere is a threat in on itself, meaning energy tanks are REALLY important, and the bosses also range from really good to straight up padding, and from piece of cake to hair pulling insanity. I still highly recommend playing Prime 2 however because the game only gets better as you go. If you can get to the point of beating the Jump Guardian and think the game is fun thus far, you can totally and realistically beat it. People tend to give up earlier than that point because they think that the rest of the game is going to be an infuriating mess like the start of it, which isn't really true. Really the only hard bosses after that are Boost Guardian and THE FUCKING SPIDER GUARDIAN. Everything else is kind of on par with Prime 1 and as the game goes on, it just becomes more and more like Prime 1, and even better because of the screw attack and the crazy new beams. Again, the critique of Prime 2's difficulty is a bit overblown as it only really applies to the strange difficulty curve thrown right at the start and early parts of the game, but like I said, it tends to get better, easier and more fun afterwards. Keep fighting!
It just occured to me... Dolphin can do side-by-side 3D rendering... and my VR goggles can take a side-by-side image and display it 'properly' (meaning one side per eye) to get a depth effect... Now I just need to get it to recognize my VR controllers...
The 2D metroid games were among my favorite games of all time, but I never really got into Prime because neither the controller nor motion controls worked for me (I grew up playing FPS games on PC with M&K). It's soooo cool to be able to play this game the way with the perfect control scheme for FPS.
Primehack is useful for no clip, increases replayability by far if you want to skip boring corridors and stuff. The original controls are much more fun in prime 1 because of movement techs tho, nothing beats flying through a room after hitting a bent dash or bunny hop, and once you get used to them you can even aim manually for extra challenge
Having speedrun Prime 1 off and on it's hard to play without the GCN tank controls. I understand people who prefer dual stick or mouse but the traditional controls feel natural to me.
Anyone back here after the Nintendo Direct trying to decide between buying the game and playing it on pc? If I play the game on PC I would still buy it on switch because I love Metroid and will always support the official release :)
I've been playing prime hack recently. I finished Prime 1 and 2 and it was an amazing experience to go back and play them like this. Even today, they are solid games I feel have not aged to bad. Combine primehack with a splash of reshade and Windows 11's AutoHDR and honestly these games look absoultely superb.

Most fun I've had since I completed Dread 5 times over
I wanted play Echoes and Corruption remasters before Beyond, but oh well
Metroid Prime on Primehack was my very first introduction to the Metriod games and it blew my mind and now I'm hooked.
In the graphics option for primehack, there's actually a checkbox for this to toggle them back on
I never played Metroid, besides messing around and giving up on Super Metroid 😆, until 2009, when I went to Walmart, had some extra cash for a game and I saw the Steelbook Metroid Prime Trilogy for $80.
Every console game is a PC game first
The micro stutters you mentioned having. I enabled "Exclusive Ubershaders" under the Shader Compilation section and they disappeared for me. Might be worth a try yourself! Also, I am using the Vulkan API instead of DX11 as it is a better graphics API. May need to do the same, not sure.
Thank you! Was getting stutter every time i walked through a doorway into a new chamber and this fixed it. Kudos!
@@DreadnThis Glad to hear this helped you too!
You’re NOT into scanning??? That’s what makes the game stand apart and feel like such a fun explorer! Defo my fave part. I scanned EVERYTHING to learn about the world
This game was my GOTY in 2020. Next year I did play the second part and this year the third part. All of them have an incredible OST.
I feel that haha, always sucks when people turn something down that you know they'd be into.
Back in the day, before primehack, I got my friend to make his own hack for mouse support.
I played through the whole game WITHOUT the lock on feature.
Got to Metroid Prime, and got walled, I couldn't beat the final boss without lock on and had to quit. :o
I couldn’t imagine a Metroid Prime PC collection. People would lose their goddamn minds.
I believe it could be a wonderful thing having the third person camera of Resident Evil 4 on Metroid Prime games
primehack + VRmod = god tier.
It's an amazing game from the first moment to the last. Unlike any other.
Music is so good.
One of my all time fav games, i'll just try this with mouse, looks awesome
Even though I've had to deal with a minor black dot in the middle of the screen for Primehack during cutscenes and so have many others (I've even noticed it on yours when you pulled up the map). This is still the definitive way to play these games. Hoping Primehack gets updated in the future and fully removes the dot. I have OCD, but its bearable. Prime 4 hype is real.
The black dot is burned into the back of my head. If it isn’t on the map, I don’t understand what I’m looking at.
Mine comes out green, but on trilogy and regular dolphin.
@@terabitdefiance8022 weird. makes me think it's a dead pixel every time lol
Finally I can go back and play prime 3, really love the aesthetic of that one, gotta try this
I loved third person shooter in the old days, but now I like first person shooter as much as third person shooter and these game looks fun!
I wish they had made a new Metroid prime every 3 years since 2002
No talking/dialogue, no other characters - Just Samus, puzzles, monster's and backtracking ... plenty of backtracking and getting lost.
And getting stuck
And having to read lore/hints to find out what the bloody hell to do next ...
This is undoubtedly one of the world’s top ten games.
Hearing that music when you got off your ship was so damn nostalgic oh my god
Yeah man every metroid prime song brings me back so peaceful
I never had a gamecube so this is how I played the trilogy my first time and it was a blast
i've had this on pc for quite a while now. played through zero mission, and i started this to keep with the story. couldn't get into it for some reason, even with mods and such to play it play/look amazing. i was to into the 2d style, and still am, but i really need to push thru and play this one to get started with the story in order again.
Damn this is sick. Going to try this out a raytracing pack would be sick.
NINTENDO BRING THE DANG TRILOGY TO SWIMCH YESTERDAY thanks
Switch is INEPT for a legend like the Trilogy.
After having a BLAST with jak and daxter with OPENGOAL, I CANNOT WAIT to try this out
What’re the odds, I booted up PrimeHack yesterday to continue playing through the Trilogy (I’m now playing Prime 2) and you posted this video! The first two Prime games are near and dear to my heart and I hope you’ll give Prime 2 a try!
yOUr sMaRtPhOnE iS sPyInG yOu
definitely gonna have to try this out on my steam deck
Oh wow, this looks sick! Can't wait to play this again. Insta-subbed :D
Awesome, thank you!
2022: primehack
2023: metroid prime remastered
There's still value on Prime Hack because you have NATIVE mouse and keyboard support like any shooter on PC. Gyro and dual sticks can't compete here.
@@saricubra2867 arguably gyro is better than mouse. also the game doesn't really profit from more precise aim as it just isn't designed to need it at all
@@schnitzler001 Gyro is NOT better than mouse, you don't have the fine precision and degree of control. It's very aparent that you usually play console shooters, not on PC.
"isn't designed"
But that doesn't mean you can't use it.
played it in 2004 when i was 13 years old! i still have my game cube memory card (4mb - lol) with my first save file on it
Yes I have played all the Metroid. On the Gamecube, Wii & Wii U. One of the best and underrated Nintendo games.
The first was amazing and I enjoyed playing it with prime hack but man the 2nd is just on a whole other level
I really want to go through 2 and 3, I've heard 2 is pretty tough right?
@@BBKDRAGOON Yeah. I personally can't figure out where to go. Then again, I am on my first play through. Things could change if I get back into it.
Prime 2 is freakin godlike. My favorite game of all time
It just occured to me... Dolphin can do side-by-side 3D rendering... and my VR goggles can take a side-by-side image and display it 'properly' (meaning one side per eye) to get a depth effect...
Now I just need to get it to recognize my VR controllers...
PrimeHack is included with EmuDeck - The Steam Deck emulator pack.
Metroid Prime, Half-Life 2 and Resident Evil 4 are my holy trinity. Top 3 games of all time for me. I’ve gotta give prime hack a go!
This man totally gets it. These are the big 3
You can play all of these in VR, and in my opinion MP vr and HL2 vr are the best games ever made
I'm playing RE4 HD project and it's amazing
The 2D metroid games were among my favorite games of all time, but I never really got into Prime because neither the controller nor motion controls worked for me (I grew up playing FPS games on PC with M&K). It's soooo cool to be able to play this game the way with the perfect control scheme for FPS.
I played through the first Metroid Prime through this method and I can’t recommend it enough. 🙂
I played it early this year this way & it was absolutely amazing, vouch
YESSS! Cheers
I’m so glad you checked this out and went right to making a video on it hahaha
I've been waiting YEARS for this to come out with in HD... come on Nintendo ffs!!
Playing it for the first time right now. Game of the Year for me.
Anyone back here after the Nintendo Direct trying to decide between buying the game and playing it on pc? If I play the game on PC I would still buy it on switch because I love Metroid and will always support the official release :)
here
Not everyone is rich, I’m getting Primehack because I’m poor.
@@cartoonvideos5 Its only 40$...
I chose the official remaster because I like portability and the controls which I prefer over mouse and keyboard.
Metroid Prime still feels like something from the future of gaming, ours as well, in game design. Visually too for all the way back then.
I just finished Prime and Echoes, absolutely loved them on Primehack! I haven't played Corruption since it's release, so that's gonna be a brand new game for me basically, and I don't have to use the gimmick motion controls!
@@brijor6ff7 Good to hear man, it's the same for me. It's been a long time since prime 3 for me so it's totally fresh - and primehack saving us all from the motion controlls is a godsend!
@@jacklamb1155 did you have any trouble, with the screw attack in Echoes? I swear I never had issues with it in the original, but I was having a hell of a time getting it to activate consistently.
@@brijor6ff7 I don't recall any no, I know the timing is a bit odd but I think it was pretty consistent for me
@@jacklamb1155 My PC is near it's end days, I'm guessing the timing might be off slightly because of an input lag, but whatever you only need to use it in like 8 to 10 spots lol
You should do a video comparing this to the Switch Remaster.
I miss Kmart and play all the demos they had for GameCube, PS2, and Xbox. I miss those days. Rip childhood.
Here after the Prime 4 gameplay reveal. So cool.
The Trilogy iseven better in VR on the PC. It's finicky to get setup, but once it's working, it's incredible. Especially Prime 3 since it was designed with motion controls in mind from the beginning.
Yes it is fantastic on PC, combine it with the controller FragFX FragChuck for a more precise FPS and bring the game to another level.
I remember the first time that I played Portal all could think about was how cool it would be to have a modern FPS Metroid Prime game.
Nintendo: “It’s just can’t be done. It won’t work on the Switch.”
Fans:”yeah we’ve had they for years already.”
Nintendo:”Thats illegal!!!!”
You should make a video comparing Metroid Prime hack (with HD textures) in Dolphin versus Metroid Prime remastered for the Switch :)
I actually have an original GameCube and original copy of Metroit prime and I also have Metroid prime two and I have Metroid prime three for the week so I mean it’s cool that fans are able to do all this but I’ve got all my bases covered
i would compare the thrill of prime 1 the same as half life. Two completely different games, yet they succeed so much in the choices they took to build the atmosphere, there is place for wonder, horror, and isolation.
It uses the Wii version, not the WiiU version for anyone that gets confused. Dolphin/Primehack doesn't do WiiU games, but does do GC and Wii games.
I like the idea of playing Metoid Prime with traditional controls and motion controls. MC being my preferred way to play but the original controls played a big part in its feel.
Metroid Prime 1,2 and 3 aged better than the first 3 Halos imo.
Just super well resigned games
This game could totally run on Switch and match this fidelity.
Metroid Prime 3 was not a linear game dude lmao... Clearly haven't played it.
Finished Prime 1 yesterday with 100% and 100% scans (no THIS TIME i didnt forgot the "AQUA DRONE" :D)
Im already in Torvus of Prime 2 :)
GORGEOUS!!
what a coincidence I just started to play Metroid Prime for the first time ever on my PC and the controls weren't that good I will definitely try this I hope they expand the mouse and keyboard support to all Wii games.
This sure is one of the best games ever made! If you never played Metroid Prime before, PLAY IT NOW BRO!
My first Metroid was Prime 2, so I’m biased towards it. But this is fantastic!
It's nice in the original that you can just freely use your beams without worrying about ammo.
@@AdHerlihy The ammo gives more strategizing to the beam rather than just run and gun for me personally but it's cool for people who don't want to bother with that
Oh man. Here I've been. Waiting for Nintendo to give us at the VERY least a port on the switch and this is just out there for all to see? I very much need them to do this hack with prime 2 and 3 as well.
Been playing Prime Hack on my Steam Deck. It's amazing.

@@princessoscar3089 good thing you can play prime remastered on PC with Yuzu emulator
Tyvm for sharing this
Metroid Prime 2 is the best of the trilogy
☝
I really hated the ammo mechanic as it felt so limiting & made you hoard the good beams for the always tougher enemy around the corner. Even though it was easy enough to replenish. I'd have enjoyed this a lot more if that wasn't a thing or was at least doubled from the start. 50 shots really isn't a lot & you don't find expansions for a while.
However, the Prime 2 atmosphere was even deeper, scarier & fun to explore. Even if it was a bit rough keeping track of two maps
Prime remastered on the yuzu emulator is pretty awesome
Maybe the best game on the GameCube !!! Such good memories!
