I’m not sure why anyone is surprised that Purdy has slowed down his throwing. He was confronted with interceptions against Baltimore. If there is anything I’ve come to expect from Purdy: learn and improve.

The 2nd half is an entire Brock Purdy highlight reel! Watch every offensive play one after another and it is quite impressive. Completed 13-of-16 passing attempts for 174 yards, one touchdown, no turnovers and a 132.8 passer rating. He also added 49 rushing yards, averaging over 10 yards per carry. The first NFL quarterback in the last 30 years -- regular season and postseason -- to record that stat line in a single half.

This is it. Here is the moment we have been waiting for four years now. I always figured we would be back against KC. It's destiny. The team was supposed to be back last year but Purdys arm got shredded. They had a gameplan for the Chiefs. Eagles lost because they underestimated their opponent. 49ers would have beat them. This year was a mission. We said "NOBODY better get in our way." The Cowboys tried, they got wooped. The Eagles tried, they got spanked. The Packers tried, they got melted. The Lions tried, they got neutered. This year, the gameplan hasn't changed. We know who the team to beat is. We have been planning for this game for 4 years. There is vegence to be had but more important is glory. I do believe whole heartedly that the 49ers will win this game. Brock Purdy and team will hoist that Lombardi trophy come February 11. This is it. This is it.

No we had this one in the Bag , then our coach gets greedy and instead of kicking a 45 yarder like an experienced coach would do , he goes for it and Bosa messes up our plans!!! Then our rookie running back (in the pro bowl) fumbles it on our first possession after the 49'ers scored , and it was all academic after that No worries we will be back next year to give the niner gang a setback good Luck to y'all in the SB nobody deserves to lose it twice in four years

What's galling about the first half was the lackadaisical defense. They were jogging while Lions were sprinting all around them. When they got to the runner, they were playing touch football, not tackles. The offense saved the day that the defense lost. I'd love to see some of them cut.

Thank you and welcome! I was really disappointed by the effort on some of the plays. Standing around waiting for someone else to make the tackle is something 4-12 teams do late in the season, not something I expect to see from the #1 seed with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line! I am sure this will be a point the coaches will hammer home when they look at the tape of this game. Against the Chiefs, we will need to see an ALL OUT effort. It's the last game of the season either way, so leave everything you have out on the field.

You would think that opponents need to account for him, but they don't, they take advantage of him. You can see why the Commanders were so glad to get rid of him. I hope we don't sign him in the off season. Jai'yir Brown has some learning to do. CJG talked all that trash, he got torched all game. Twice by BP's scramble LOL. Juice and CMC harassed him all day.

Really look forward to a SB breakdown from the best, hope its a positive one.
We talked earlier this year about Dan Campbell and a legit team they have. And boy did they show up (in the first half). 3rd quarter was absolutely bonkers.
I grew up in Las Vegas and hopefully my team will hoist a Trophy in my hometown, that would be ultimate. Tons of faithful in Vegas, its a home game and hopefully some Raider Stadium vibes will effect division rival kc.
But now I live in Missouri and my wifes family will absolutely roast me into eternity if things dont go well again 😂. I think Deebo is going to have something special for the SB. My bold prediction for SB MVP.
By the way I'm on Android YT app and there is no $ option. I've checked on main video page and in comments. I will happily contribute if that gets fixed.
Josh, we the true longterm faithful have waited for a W for 30 years in the big game. We absolutely need this one. We're consistently contenders, but let's get 6!! Been a great season though and I love experiencing it all with fellow 49er fans 🙏.

The Lions NEED to kick that field goal. It not only brings the lead back to three scores, but in doing so negates all that the Niners used half of the 3rd quarter to accomplish. If you had thought coming out of the half you could erase half the time in the quarter from the clock and KEEP the 17 point lead, you would have killed for that. Dumb as they come and then some…

    • @JoshBreakdowns
      @JoshBreakdowns  8 месяцев назад +1

That's an extremely good point, the Lions could've viewed that as an 8 minute shortcut to victory. Charlie Weis said on Airing It Out that when the dam is leaking, you have to do anything you can to plug up the leak, not contribute to it.

  • @healthdios

The Lion's fans jinxed themselves by opening them traps too much and too loud...
The part that I could never understand was calling Detroit the team of destiny. You never call anything destiny. You're supposed to let destiny come to you.
I'm a San Francisco follower since the 80's, when I was a kid.
Now I'm 51 and after waiting since 1995 for them to do it again, still I'd never call the Niners a team of destiny, especially because living here in the Midwest, I'm surrounded by so much hate towards San Francisco.
I've got my heart broken so many times waiting on the Red and Gold to get the Lombardi trophy again and even at this point with San Francisco back in the Superbowl I've got my hopes high but not that high....I will just let destiny happen.

"Can't scramble." 🤣First half was NOT pretty, and glad you metioned "the joggers" (won't do THAT again😏). Kept the faith, and they got it together BIG TIME. More evidence, Purdy to BA is as dependable as Montana to Rice! CREDIT to the Lions - worthy adversaries! But James Houston's hit was beyond playing dirty, egregious Unnecesary Roughness - Purdy was already down by two big defenders. Agressive football is part of it, but this crossed the line. If he had caused Brock serious injury, I think the fans would have wanted his head. How 'bout them 49ers!🤠

Debo is a Prima Donna, and the 49er Offensive coaches are PUSSIES. The film does NOT lie. At 14:18 Debo is blocking downfield for McCaf, but Debo is looking behind at McCaf instead of just driving his block. The defender sheds Debo’s block worthy of my eight year old sister, and that defender makes the tackle on McCaf. Then at 14:20 while McCaf and more Niner teammates are driving on that defender, Debo just stands there and WATCHES. This has happened ALL YEAR. Why don’t the 49er coaches highlight this in the locker room to get Debo to be more of a team player? Very few are better than Debo with the ball in his hands, but when Debo needs to run a clearing route, or block downfield, Debo half-asses it and the Niner coaches let him get away with it.

The offensive game plan for the 49ers should be to establish the run early on to open up the passing game and to keep on running the ball after that. Why not as the Niners have the best running back in the NFL in Christian McCaffrey? Considering Brock Purdy rushed for 48 yards against the Lions who have one of the top rated run defenses in the NFL adds another dimension to the Niners run game. And this is crucial as the teams that beat the Chiefs this season did so by running the ball, exposing the Chief's weak run defense.
First game of the season for Kansas City was against the Lions who rushed the ball 34 times including 21 carries by Montgomery, leading to a 21-20 upset of the Chiefs.
Midway through the season, the Chiefs faced the Broncos who rushed the ball a whopping 40 times for 153 yards, which isn't bad for a Broncos team without an elite RB, which led to a 24-9 upset blowout of KC.
A couple of games later, the Chiefs faced the Eagles who rushed the ball 27 times which led to 3 rushing TDs, enough to beat the Chiefs 21-17.
A couple of games after that, the Chiefs faced a Packer team that rushed the ball 25 times, which is a lot considering they are predominantly a passing team. The Packers upset the Chiefs 27-19.
The following week, the Chiefs played the Bills who rushed the ball 28 times despite Josh Allen having 42 passing attempts. The Bills defeated the Chiefs at KC, 20-17.
A couple of games after that, the Chiefs faced the Raiders who ran the ball 29 times for 157 yards. Not bad for a team without a good RB. The Raiders beat the Chiefs at KC, 20-14.
What cannot be overstated is the Chiefs up the ante and take it to another level during the postseason, yet the same rule still applies.
In the AFC Wild Card Round, the Chiefs faced the Dolphins who rushed the ball 18 times for 76 yards, with Pro Bowl starting RB Raheem Mosert only carrying the ball 8 times. As a result, the Dolphins suffered a blowout loss to KC by a score of 26-7.
In the AFC Divisional Round, the Chiefs faced the Bills who rushed the ball 39 times for 182 yards and nearly beat the Chiefs, losing 27-24 after a missed field goal late in the game.
In the AFC Championship, the Chiefs faced the Ravens who rushed the ball 16 times, of which RBs carried the ball just 6 times for a measly 23 yards. It's no surprise the Ravens were held scoreless from 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter to near the end of the 4th quarter.
After establishing the run, the 49ers offensive line needs to give Brock Purdy adequate protection on passing plays so he will have time to throw to his receiver targets Aiyuk, Deebo, Kittle and Jennings. Bang! Bang! Niner Gang! Niners!!!

Josh found this excellent channel 3 years ago and wow the quality has never wavered. Excellent breakdown Josh!
16:00 Who else held their breathe for a second?
36:10 Besides Purdy MANAGED to make the defender miss!
13:30 Josh, it looks if Purdy throws to the back corner, he has Deboo, or ball is out of the endzone. Purdy even gives Deboo a second look.
40:00 Josh you know if that is the Poster Boy if would have been called.
42:00 Wilks as well as all the coach's credit this win to as well.
Wilks shutting down the Lions running lanes and getting after Goff. Shutout the second half (other than the TD way late).
46:22 Josh, do you know status of Ambry Thomas he was the only player I saw that did not return. Logan Ryan finished the game.
Would be a huge plus to go in Super Bowl injury free.
48:30 The NFL saw an opportunity to anoint a new Poster Boy. Now Poster Boy has been in last 4 of 5 Super Bowls, hmm?

I want you to know I am really considering your thoughts on this. When we first started this channel, it was no frills, including no music or anything like that. Week after week I got comments from folks asking me to add some music.
I've seen other channels do it both ways; for instance jonnydel has music in his videos, but JT O'Sullivan does not.
One thing that I really try to emphasize when I do these breakdowns is to really tell the story of what happened in the game. It's a bit more than just a cold analysis of the X's and O's on every play. If it seems a bit more theatrical, that is my intent. I feel that kind of presentation lends itself well to some music to go along with it in the background.
For what it's worth, I really have tried to find better and better music the last few seasons. Last year I made some efforts to get higher quality (but still free) music from Pixabay. And this year I have begun purchasing licenses to use even higher quality tracks. Next season I intend on signing up with a monthly subscription service that will allow me to get licenses for top tier tracks. I have been extraordinarily fortunate to have kind and generous donors, and this is a way I can reinvest in the channel.
I know opinions are split on this but hopefully folks understand where I'm coming from and what the ultimate goals are for these videos. I also find the feedback people provide as essential in guiding me in the right direction.
Do you have any suggestions as to what type of music might work better? Do you have any other ideas that might help me to find a better balance? As always I appreciate you taking the time to watch and I appreciate your support 🙏🙏

Thank you Josh for a tremendous season, this game especially! I had to bail out on the 49ers in both playoff games this year. They never come back while I'm watching, so I did my bit. I didn't know the result of this one until Monday morning! I obviously made the right call again. I hope I don't have to bail during the Super Bowl. Does anyone have a spare ticket? I still have time to drive my 20 year old car cross country to Vegas!😔

“James, Houston delivered an extremely dirty and dangerous hit on Brock Purdy - apparently the officials didn’t notice!! “
In another, one of Purdy‘s runs after he dove down and was down somebody dove on top of him really hard! What’s going on that they’re allowing this to happen blatantly several times?! Brock could be taken out during one of these. There is another that was clear on television where they took his whole helmet off after diving on him, and he had a cut lip. What’s going on?

@17:31 OL number 60 and the back judge have exchanged bank info cause it looks like Bosa is getting a taste of the WWF. Let our guard do that to Chris jones and every ref on the field will throw a flag.

49ers should have warned fans before the playoffs started that anyone with a heart condition shouldn’t watch their games, lol…this game will be talked about for a long time; only question now is: what’ll it take for them to dethrone the Chiefs and avoid a repeat of the 2019 season?

Lesssss go! I'm hyped for this one
I think he threw that flag before seeing where the ball was and picked it up because the defender was making a play on the ball and not impeding Aiyuk's route. I could be wrong though.

We have Purdy who is way more advanced in this offense than Jimmy, and we now CMC this time around. I like our chances for victory.

I still feel that Wilks is to often outmatched in the first half. He does adjust, yet the Run defence has been bad all year, D line passrush has regressed. Still feel that we´d need a new DC.

I was thinking about this game. What impressed me the most about this team, the 49ers, was their poise, calmness, athleticism, and most important, their professionalism to buckle down and win this game (and the game against the Packers). They knew what they had to do to win. THEY HAVE MATURED. Also, 49ers QB Brock Purdy has shown that he can scramble and most of all he can run. He averaged 17 yards per carry. Deadly.

Great Call Josh !! Really appreciated the multi views on most of the best plays. I think Mr Irrelevant is very relevant now, and as an advocate for the underdogs, I could not be happier he is with us....His runs were punishing in the timeliness of the 9ers momentum.
You and the lovely Mrs. Putnam are so generous with publishing these games, it has made this and past seasons so much more enjoyable....Thanks Josh !!

    Hey Josh,
awesome content as usual. at 44:47 of this tape, after Brock made that long run #32 STOMPED on Brock's right leg when Brock was already down. Looked to me that he, (#32) wanted to seriously injure Brock. Let me know what you think? Maybe I'm just seeing things differently?

    • @JoshBreakdowns
      @JoshBreakdowns  8 месяцев назад +1

The first angle looks like a deliberate stomp, like the DK Metcalf stomp. The second angle looks more like it was inadvertent. Hopefully it's the second. There a fine line between playing hard and physical and playing dirty.

Read a comment about some Lions players taunting the SF crowd when they were up big,and how the commenter had a bad feeling it'd come back to haunt them. Being cocky is part of sports. In the NFL they play 4 quarters, not 2.

I've talked about many of my favorite offensive players on this channel. Deebo is fantastic, Kittle is freaky, Aiyuk is amazing, Juice is sneaky good, McCaffrey is all but perfect. There are soooo many other players who are great at their positions, but, WOW!!!!, Brock Purdy is simply unbelievable. He's my favorite player on my favorite team and he should have been the MVP of the season as he was easily the best player on the best team. I'm worried about the Chiefs, but we should be fine.
