Actually, she has the attitude like she doesn’t really care about the type of material that’s been pushed out to the masses. They were so important when they said that there is not a lot of variety in music today that coming from the radio programmers, they should have a fiduciary duty to their listeners.
Radio personalities don't have the freedom to select music on major airwaves at least on major morning/afternoon airtime. At night, all day, but no one listens then LOL. Those airwaves COST and only the majors got the bread, backing, and favors to do it. Program directors usually program radio friendly songs from major artists on major labels. Works for labels because their top artist get major exposure equaling MONEY, great ratings for the radio for popular aritst and MONEY, and the big artist get exposure which can translate to MONEY. Giving an unknown artist a look is a RISK of the MONEY train so they take a safe bet. It's rare if not impossible for a indie artist (not a subsidiary label that got major backing lol) to even break at radio. Hell favors were pulled to get that Jay Elect record out and that got some looks but the NUMBERS weren't consistent to get in heavy rotation.
