Great quick rundown. Personally I would love to see it with the window install at the end as it gets hard to visualize-- bonus points if you can do it with a half-cut window to show how it all works. Thanks.
Jake thanks for your work-we met as the BS and Beer show and you gave me invaluable advice around risk. As an Andersen retiree working on a PGH have you looked at Series A vs Shuco?
Do Anderson series 100 windows come in triple pane? Seems like a lot of cost is going into the wall construction but series 100 are the cheapest line Anderson offers. Any insight on that choice?
The 100 series does not come in a triple. However they do come with quality double pane, the same available in the more expensive Andersen windows. From a performance metric they perform roughly the same as say a 400 series will. These were a budget choice/ style choice. The windows are performing well in the assembly. They certainly are the weakest point in the wall.
The cycle testing on the tape shows something different. Also, there is real potential that cladding will be replaced before the 50 year mark. Everyone pretentds that we are building maintenance free homes. Someone will have some level of upkeep at some point on these buildings. They are going to exist forever like this without someone caring for them.
best explanation for the reason for the perimeter sealing. thank you.
I like that the zip is inside in the window frame. Another insulation spot never considered

Tell me in 50 years if that tape you use as the primary barrier works.
I'll save you the effort. NOooooooooooo.

great video but I wish you would do a house WITHOUT zip sheathing.
If we have a system that works for our methods and for our clients, then what would be the reason to use a different system?
What a crime, Anderson 100s after spending the money on zip and split studs
