I’m liking the price difference in portugal, we might one day get back to going abroad and Portugal sounds doable for our finances, just the dog situation puts us off but we need to look into it a bit more, really enjoyed your banter as always 🥰👊👍🚌🐕🇬🇧

by law dogs must be leached in public but few are the ones who pratice it; the general feeling is: let dogs be dogs, however responsibility stay with the owner (or insurance).
and yes, we value our freedom. that comes with the responsability of not disturbing anyone's freedom/rights. i'm glad you enjoyed our little portugal!
    safe journey! 🤠😎

Hi guys, I made the decision to go completely offgrid in April 23. I think the last time I was on a campsite in the UK was October 23. Yes it costs a lot but by not using the campsites you get your money back say over 12/18 months. I'm still at Canterbury PnR £4 a day. I looked into paying for 1 night at Canterbury CCC almost £17 a night just for me. Without membership it's just over £26 a night. Off-grid is definitely the way to go, more freedom! Sounds like you struck gold where you are now. I was laughing when you said about lifting your feet when the cleaner was in 😂
Today Sunday 02/02 is a beautiful day not a cloud in the sky, last night was 0c 🥶 now is 4c. Best wishes Mac 😊

Hey Mac, good to hear from you. Hope things are OK.
      Glad you enjoyed the joke.
Yes more off grid is the way to go. We’ve planned on upgrading the van with more battery, dc charger and lots of solar. PLUS we now have 3 power banks at a total of 5000 watt hours which is about 400 amp hours so I think we’ll be well set for more off grid which will leave us more money for beer 👍😎😀

Have you thought about the 180 Day French Visa? Costs ~ €150 and allows multiple entry / exits ( through France ) for the duration of the visa. Can visit other countries as well 👍

    Great at £20 pd.
What will be your total miles covered & fuel costs be once you've returned to the UK?

    • @TheHappyTravellers
      @TheHappyTravellers  4 дня назад

I think we are about 1500 miles so far but we will know the real distance when we have made the journey.
The N2 Route is about 768kms (about 470 miles) but we are going back on a different route through Spain.

Hi, Glad you enjoyed the video :)
We vary on insurance but have mostly used "Red Pennant" for the 90 day trips PLUS the GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) which allows emergency treatment to be covered under the NHS. Local hospitals can then "charge back" the costs to the UK NHS.
Pre-Brexit we used the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) and had one occasion in 2019 /2020 where I had to spend a week in Hospital for Gall Bladdeer Issues. All covered by EHIC and a UK Passport.
Insurance is a funny thing as it's SO variable in costs depending on who you are and how the insurance company see your risk profile. Also how "Risk Averse" you are AND how you live your life.
I know that is all a bit vague but I hope it gives you a flavour of how we approach insurance. I guess from an insurnace company perspective, we woould be fairly high risk, being that we are late 60s, overweight and have existing medical issues.
