The Who was my dad's favorite band. He passed away in 2016 from complications due to COPD. He'd been in the hospital for a week, and we eventually had to make the decision to take him off the bipap machine. He was unconscious at that point - he'd been given a ton of morphine to keep him comfortable through his transition out of this world, but my mom and I were in the room with him for those last hours, and played a lot of his favorite music thinking maybe, maybe it would be getting through. Love Reign O'er Me was the last song we played before he passed, and it still makes me feel emotional, and usually makes me cry. Such an amazing song, with so much depth. It makes me happy when other people get to discover songs like this and add them to their life and consciousness. So glad you got to experience this one.
Wow, I love hearing the story of your dad loving The Who and the last song he heard. My dad was a similar situation playing all music he loved and Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John was my dads last song while we held him and surrounded him in his hospital bed while drinking beer in the room, cheersing him, his life and all he did for us
Sorry for the loss of your Dad. Listening to The Who surrounded by my family is the way I’d want to go too. Good on you for helping him go with his favourite band playing. My sister passed to My sweet Lord playing I think she might have wanted it that way.
Watching your reaction made me realize that those of us who grew up with this music took it for granted !!! We were of the generation of rock n' roll will never die, and wouldn't have believed the state of music nowadays. Glad to see this music will be appreciated well into the future! ✌
The Who are a British rock band formed in London in 1964. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century & have sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have so many great songs such as "I Can't Explain", "The Kids Are Alright", "My Generation", "Substitute", "Happy Jack", "I Can See For Miles", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Baba O'Riley", "Boris The Spider", "Pictures Of Lily", "Magic Bus", "Who Are You", "Behind Blue Eyes" etc. The group's 1969 concept album "Tommy" included the single "Pinball Wizard".
This is the last song on The Who's rock opera called Quadrophenia. It's written from the perspective of a teenager who's dealing with the difficulties of life that most people experience in their teen years as they morph from childhood into an adult. On the 3 songs prior to LROM, the main character (Jimmy) is contemplating suicide. He is literally sitting on a rock a few hundred feet from the shore as the tide is coming in. He is guzzling a bottle of gin as he waits for the waves to wash him off the rock. In his despair and depression, he finally realized all the stuff he'd been dealing with (peer pressure, losing a girlfriend, popping pills just trying to fit in, low paying job, etc) isn't worth taking his life over. He realized the most important thing is love.
Would love to see you react to the entire Quadrophenia album from start to finish. Over the years I've met many Who fans who claim Quadrophenia either saved their lives or helped them deal with teen issues when they were teenagers. The lyrics are very deep, the musicianship is off the charts great, and Roger Daltrey performs a vocal clinic for the ages on the entire album!
Guru is your Song James and just like jasmine is just another one of her awesome song's LIKE WATER is another that went Platinum here in Aotearoa new zealand she's amazing humble EMPATHETIC and has a velvet voice beautiful powerful different
First hear this song 40 years ago, and STILL, every time I hear it, I get full body goose bumps. By the way, this is the last song on the Who's absolute masterpiece album Quadrophenia. This song hits you twice as hard after hearing the whole album.
Final song from arguably the greatest rock album of all time Quadrophenia. It’s worth checking out the story behind the album and listening to it from beginning to end. It’s a double LP concept album with 17 songs and you won’t be disappointed.
This, this right here, this is a great example of the healing power of music. Fill your spiritual reservoir with as much great music as possible and you live with a source that can be tapped into on demand. Sometimes we find life difficult to navigate so take a break to rest and rejuvenate. But always continue to replenish that reservoir for the rest of your life.
This is the Last Song from the Rock Opera, "Quadraphenia". I always think of it as being "Triumphant". Pete Townshend's guitar work, over the the repeated piano line builds the Perfect Foundation for Roger Daltry's Magnificent Vocals!
Huh? There is no second part of this song. It’s the last track on Quadrophenia- end of side 4- and we just heard the whole song. “I’ve Had Enough” is the last song on the first album (end of side 2).
Actually I just realized you may be referring to the movie soundtrack, whereas this is from the original studio album. If you meant the soundtrack, then yes, I believe you’re correct, in that the movie soundtrack ends with I’ve Had Enough. But it’s still not the “2nd part”, though: they’re two totally different and separate songs.
Kia ora hello James brother hay my dad's favourite band of all time THE WHO 14 year's ago he got to see them here in Auckland Aotearoa new zealand on his 60th birthday the actual day of his birthday he was a very happy man. I've brought tickets to see midnight oil for me and dad in December the first time i saw midnight oil was with my dad in 1983 at the SWEETWATERS MUSIC FESTIVAL i was 12 year's old I've seen them twice since then and now i get to shout my Dad . In the last few years we have seen David Byrnes (talking heads) American utopia show. BILLY IDOL with CHEAP TRICK And THE CURE me and dad have been going to gigs together since i was a kid in the seventies i sometimes wonder if it was because he couldn't find a babysitter?
Now THATS a reaction video. Thanks for listening to the best rock band ever do their thing. All bands can be duplicated except for The Who. They were too good for musicians to duplicate anyone, if not everyone in the band.
If you ever get the time, I highly recommend watching the Who's Rock Opera Movie 'TOMMY'. It was a musical and visual experience....even Elton John was amazing in it. Tina Turner plays the Acid Queen and is AWESOME!! Or even the other Movie The Who done 'Quadrophenia'.
You got it, JB! They were special. There are others, if you're interested: listen to the Live versions (from Shepparton Studios) of Won't Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Reilly...because they're...perfect rock and roll.
And because I'm a rude bugger sometimes. I'll start again.kia ora James brother how are you doing? It's really cool seeing you in a new environment with a New outlook on life. Life is a wonderful thing if given the chance to blossom. And here's my other little thing i keep banging on about LADI6 song GURU Knock Knock Who's there? Ladi6 song just like jasmine
We all need LOVE. Not lust, which is selfish and the complete opposite of LOVE. People who care about us no matter what. But, we also have to be that for others. He who loses his life, will find it.
Greatest Rock Band Ever

Whenever I'm feeling down, this tune will take me on a journey far above the world, where I can feel one with the universe.
LONG LIVE THE WHO!! Greatest song ever written!
It's a masterpiece on its own... and it's even better in context, with the whole rest of Quadrophenia before it. The entire album is AMAZING.

This song is a huge part of the Adam Sandler movie about 9/11 called Reign On Me- it is not a comedy movie and it's worth watching

Reign and Rain used here, two different meanings. It's deep. From the rock opera and The Who movie Quadrophenia
The album came out in 1973 and the movie came out a few years later. The movie soundtrack is quite different from the album.
Big Head Todd and The Monsters "Its alright" It will make you smile.
Is this the first time you listened to The Who?
Very big and wonderful rabbit hole!

🦄 love you James! 💜💜💜
Welcome to the vocal arrangement of Roger Daltry
This song is a masterpiece. The second part of it is called “I’ve Had Enough”.

Love that movie. Adam doesn't get credit for dramatic roles.
