    That has to be your big beast in action, nice crisp single pass carves. Wish mine would do as good! How much of the quality cut is in the bit?

      The larger bit, really just makes the carve faster since it can do full depth passes with its wider diameter. I still use the 1/8" for those catch all trays and they have pretty good quality too. The issue with those is the need to do multiple stepdowns which, of the spindle isn't trammed well, will show the stepdown lines. 🤷‍♂️ since the larger bit is doing full depth passes, even if tram is off, its not noticeable 😉 (btw mine needs trammed again)

    So what's the reasoning behind probing on top of the washboard instead of the material

    • @SethCNC
      @SethCNC  3 года назад +1

      It allows me to not wreck the waistband by going too deep whe doing the cut out 👍
      Yes I could probe the top but then I would need to get the calipers out and get a precise thickness measurement.. use a view too small and it doesn't cut all the way through, use a value too large and ill get excessively deep and this could also jeprodize the strength of the tabs as it would result in thinner than designed tabs... my way is just the easiest way (at least IMO) to get it to cut to the depth I wanted
      What way do you do, and have you tried this way. And what software are you using to make gcode and to send it?

      @@SethCNC I'm still very new. So I've always just zeroed to the waste board. I use easel but have been following you on Fb groups and have just downloaded openbuilds i like it so far just haven't ran it on a job yet

    Just wondering if you’re still having problems with the code in easel and if not what was your fix?

      I’m using Mach 3 BTW

      @@derrickshepherd3472 oh I understand, easel only exports in grbl, it does not support mach controllers. You would need software with a selectable post processor, carveco works well with mach, there a link to the 90 day free of carveco maker in this video..

      Funny you mention Carveco I just started learning it 4 days ago. Easel does work with Mach if you export your code it’s in .NC format Mach can read it thanks 😎

      @@derrickshepherd3472 interesting, I always thought it was missing certain commands for the arcs in Mach. Good to know!
