      I did not know they actually sold Diesels in the US. For the Touareg a 3.0 or even better 4.2TDI is the best engine anyway.

    Glad to see a Tdi video where the fix isn't just deleting the emissions stuff. I mean there is a reason why it's there. In a time when we are moving to electric or hydrogen cars, I think it is important that we keep emotions down so that we still can drive gas and diesel cars

    I worked for Citroen/Peugeot as I'm from the UK and being French the urea systems constantly broke so did a lot of diagnoses and tsb bulletin work on them..... sometimes replacing the full tank as in their infinite wisdom made the pump integral to the tank! At least VAG group made this pump separate.... I reckon I will one day work on one of these so this video has educated me for this.... Thank you sir. My top tip is to buy the 1L AdBlue bottle from VW/Audi and cut the bottom off.

    As a farmer and a farm machinery mechanic theese AdBlue systems can be very expensive and annoying. New harvesters have AdBlue and regularly fail because harvesters sit over the winter, here in Finland we regularly see -30°c temps so freezing is common.

    Thanks for posting this video! I have a 2016 TDI Touareg and one morning, I notice my exhaust tips are cloudy followed by a check engine light. I ran a scan with VCDS and there were two codes, P229F & P20EE. I pulled the DEF injector and noticed right away that the nozzle had dried DEF. I cleaned the injector, reinstalled, cleared codes and have not seen the light again. But I still get some cloudy exhaust tips, but no check engine lightMy suspicion was since the crust on the injector was disrupting the spray pattern, it kept spraying continuously while at the same time a sensor was not detecting for the correct amount of spray that it was looking for. Also, while I had the DEF injector pulled, I looked inside of the exhaust hole, It has tons of buildup inside. Have you ran into this issue? Thank you for all that you do.

And if so can that be replaced or better off replacing the whole tank? Thanks in advance to anyone with some insight.

    I miss my '15 but traded it when I needed space for 3 car seats. It also coincided with the odometer hitting 119,000 miles. I ended up with a crew cab 5.0 f150 and thought I would miss the mpg but now it's actually cheaper to fill a 36 gallon tank with gas than the 26 gallon diesel tank and has the same 600+ mile range.

    QUESTION. Adblue light came on at 1500 miles. Check engine light come on 2 days later and I figured the adblue was the reason for the code. Filled DEF at 1000 miles with 2.5 gallons and figured this would also clear the code. Adblue still says to refuel and check engine light still on does this mean I need to replace the entire unit?

    I had the NOx sensor and reductant tank sensor replaced by VW service (Under warranty) on a CKRA Passat 2013. Got the car back from the shop and as we left, the ABS system started barking. took it back to VW and they said the pump needs to be replaced ($4500). ABS was working just fine before. I've seen a video where you run out of AdPiss and it locks the system down, the ABS starts going off, even after resetting the SCR lock. Something is going on here and i've tried to trouble shoot the issue (wheel speed sensors are working as I see them thru VCDS). Don't knmow what to do other than replace ABS pump and control module and recode it.

    Great video as usual, however according to my local Volkswagen dealer in Salt Lake City you can not use any other AdBlue but the original one they sell. A very close friend of mine got a bad experience with that. He was buying the fluid at "Costco" thinking all fluids are the same. Then he got a check engine light on for bad quality of the DEF and not ODIS, vcds or any other tools were able to turn off the check engine light. My friend went to the dealership since it's under warranty and apparently they have a way to test the fluid and told him they won't cover this repair. He ended up draining the non original fluid out and filled with the original AdBlue fluid and the error actually cleared itself immediately after. Since then I only buy the original one and keep the receipts so if that happens to me, they can not play the same game. I know I can get free refills until the extended warranty expires, but they told me 1.5-2 hours wait time, so I just buy it. They will use any little thing to deny warranty work and I am not giving them any chance to win. Just my opinion (experience) and hopefully more people will be aware of this now.
    Keep up the good work mang!

    • @HumbleMechanic

      That’s very much not the case. It does have to meet the proper spec. But it doesn’t have to be VW

    • @radoadamov9201
      @radoadamov9201 2 года назад

      @@HumbleMechanic, unfortunately for him they documented that he was using non oem fluid and even call to Volkswagen of America didn't helped. The fluid in question was exactly the same as yours, widely available at Costco, gas stations and car parts stores. It's very hard to fight the big corporation and in his case was totally not worth it. Just don't give them a chance to play you when it's in your control, have a great one!

    • @Flyingspann3r
      @Flyingspann3r 2 года назад +1

      I agree with@@HumbleMechanic you don’t need to go to the dealer to buy their AdBlue. The required spec is 33% checked with a spectrometer. That is what the VW system is looking for when it does it’s quality check. Some places in the UK have been found to be watering the fluid down to improve their profit margins, but it just results in an error code and probably an expensive bill if it is still under warranty.
      To be safe, make sure you buy a good quality brand in a sealed container from a recognised petrol station or parts supplier and you will be fine. Look at the spec number on the side of a VW AdBlue bottle and match it to the spec you want to buy.
      After all, Volkswagen Group (VAG) don’t make the fluid themselves, someone else does.

      I've had a golf TDI for the last 3 years and 50k miles (for a total of 100k miles). Never done anything except routine oil and filter changes (oil plus fuel). I also do a fuel additive every 5k to keep the injectors healthy since diesel quality in the states isn't all that great, and often times have a larger than spec'd % of biodiesel. Engines are rock solid but the emissions systems are always the first thing to have issues (fingers crossed nothing yet). I love it I average 41-45 to the gallon spring through fall with a lot of 75+ mph driving. Worth the extra dollar per gallon IMO.

    I'm assuming you get this constantly, but I have an 09 Jetta TDI just off warranty. I'd love to see a video of you doing a delete. For off-road use only, of course!

    I have one for you. My AdBlue counter keeps counting down even though I refilled it. I've seen online to replace the AdBlue module, but I am not getting any codes. I see on the illustrated parts catalog (whatever it'scalledIam an aircraft mechanic). I see an AdBlue level sensorP/N 3C0906651. Should I try replacing it first? I will have to make a video if so because no one has yet and youtube has helped me out so often.

      Was this ever answered? Mines is doing that right now! The ad blue def fluid is full in the place where we’re supposed to put it but this dumb ass car is saying it’s not and I know it is! It’s saying if I turn my car off the engine won’t start again

    Hi Charles my experience is with mk4 tdi, but my wife wants something bigger she found a 2011 audi q7 tdi and I was wondering if that's a good car. Hoe does it compare longevity wise to an alh. I know it's hard to beat the 1.9 just trying to get an idea how good of a car it is

    There few vw in uk first time you refill it the sensors dies . It not to occur if garage dose it but at home user seem to set it of. Has put me off upgrading. Far im concerned you only need air con dsg and upgrade alpine media player. Every thing else on offer is a waste of time

    This video gave me PTSD from doing the fuel pump on my old MKIII Jetta. Trying to get the ring off was 🤬🤬, but getting the main section of that fuel pump to lock into the bottom of the tank was 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. All done with the tank still in the car because removing it looked like way more work, lol.
