We are so lucky in England that adult ballet is everywhere! I started from scratch at 55, now in my 60’s doing exams and I live in a rural county on the south coast with a choice of schools. There are dozens of schools all around Britain all nurturing older students and taking exams in your fifties is normal!
What a wonderful video! I was recovering from a surgery and my physiotherapist (former pro dancer) encouraged me to go for dance. Now I’m training with a pro dance company with aspirations of becoming a pro dancer. This video is powerful and spot on, sometimes it just takes 1 person to believe in you to set you on your path!
Love love loved this! Started ballet last year at 33 with the goal of getting on pointe eventually. It’s completely changed my life for the better. So thankful for my ballet teacher! Looking forward to more of your videos!
It’s hard to find a teacher who really believes that dance instruction does not end at 18. I wish they had adult dance classes here. I left a large city where they were everywhere.
"Late blooming" started at 17 :-( Like yea I understand in the ballet world 17 is really late to start putting it that way really hurts. I agree that finding that teaching is ideal. But like other comments said that is like finding the Holy Grail. Its almost useless advice for most of us. Especially those of us who started much later than 17. Its not about becoming a professional for most of us.

Trying to find such a teacher is like trying to find the Holy Grail. Only Indiana Jones can do that.
