Never been a massive Blur fan and I'm not a Londoner (though I do love the place) yet I find this beautiful song strangely and intensely moving. It plays a very Beatleesque trick in as much as the sentiment and meaning is largely conveyed by the melody and arrangement not by the lyric. In saying that, the drop out at the end when he sings "Hallelujah" has had me in tears this afternoon. Stunning!

And that's why Procol Harum is said to be a ''baroque pop band'' :) And btw, what you can't understand is not necessarily ''ludicrous''.
