for cutting the display adhesive i recommend the iplastix pry card, its soft and flimsy enough not to damage or put unwanted stresses on the screen panel, but hard enough to cut right through the adhesive
I'm confused, I've seen other videos where they remove many different components in order to replace the screen. Why is this one so much easier? And where do i buy the new screen?
Over 10years in phones development and they haven't yet realize the screen should be the first thing to come off (without glue...) in a phone. Why they persist? Has Apple patented the "screen first off"? Screen and battery replacement should be a 5minutes job in every device. (with a screen and a battery...)
@@ajemajh iPhone are the same water resistant rating as Samsung’s. Screens still come off first. He makes a good point. Screen is most damaged part of a phone. But hey Samsung took a different approach. I enjoy working on Samsung’s.
@@kieronalder5264 Yeah, Steve Jobs. He was a control freak and Apple started making it difficult to repair and the industry as always copied them blindly
@@iker4059 the phone is already disassembled here. Removing the logic board and battery to transfer to a new service pack with frame takes 2 minutes. Better results and less chance of returns. Doing the display only, if there is the slightest bit of glass or dirt on the frame you will get a return within a week when the screen breaks or fails.
iPhone screen replacements are expensive but you can replace them and they're easier to take a part but don't slice too deep like I did or you will RIP the screen ribbons and you will have to get a new screen digitizer
But by doing it that way, you have to remove all of the internal components, including the battery. Batteries in the Samsung S and Note series are known for being heavily glued in - it's probably less work and less hassle to just do a display only replacement.
@@TheSpotify95 ive done it both ways, isopropanol under the battery for 2-3 mins and it pops right out, the job takes 10 mins and its then like new from factory.
You couldn't be more wrong. Batteries are easy to remove with 99% alcohol, a little heat, and a wide spudger. There's a reason Samsung service packs are screen/frame combos.
I'm sure this has been asked but is it possible to just replace a cracked screen glass alone, not the amoled or anything else? The screen has a crack in it, but will still come off in one piece. I just want to swap it out and have a nice phone again, but want to do it right. I'm mechanically inclined, so it's definitely something I can do, even if I do have to swap out the amoled as well. Thanks in advance!!!!!
So glad Apple started designing their iPhones where the display is the first thing to come off. I hated phones where you had to dig through the whole phone to get to the display. Surprised Samsung made this so difficult.
As someone who is in consumer electronics repair, samsung screen replacements are very easy, longest part is removing the back glass. The Samsung replacement service packs come as a display and fame so all you are really doing is transplanting the motherboard and battery to a new fame, plus all the screws are the same so super easy to keep track off. Plus you wont lose any features or receive any warnings by replacing the screen on a Samsung
@fixit i just have one query, my phone is chipped at the side which caused like a line with the LCD, which messed withmy touch sensitivity. im using a samsung s20 ultra but will this tutorial help me? my LCD is broken along with my screen
I don't think you'll need a new back glass, but you will ideally need to remove the glass similarly to how they did here. Then you should clean the adhesive off both glass and phone with isopropyl alcohol and replace it
@@Zulf85 i was making the assumption that the back glass was broken and therefor peeling, if not new adhesive still needs to be applied. your point is valid anyhow!
Bro I'm thinking the same thing. Then if you make a mistake. Unless you get all these tools plus the screen way cheaper or/and want to do multiple repairs. I dont see how this worth the risk or effort.
I am going to have to replace my S20 phone screen. It's not cracked but uhh... It's got the image of RUclips's play and next/back buttons. I fell asleep one too many times watching RUclips with my brightness all the way up and didn't put it on a playlist lol ooops. Luckily my phone is paid off and it's 2 years old. It's not bad but.. I notice it. Lol
Which part is the digitizer the back ? I'm trying to fix my phone and wonder if I need a screen or digitizer, only front part is cracked everything works fine though
You need to replace the entire thing unless you have highly specialised equipment that can separate the two. The digitiser is the glass in front of the screen, but generally this will be sold attached to the screen as a replacement screen.
@@kookid1855 no problem - best of luck on your first repair journey! I would recommend looking for a screen already attached to a phone frame instead so you can just screw in the other parts. Samsung do those and it's saved me so much time and stress. Also the glass on the back is often just called the "back glass" if you need to replace that too
so many websites and so many screens.. wich is the correct one lol .. phone is samsung s20 ultra 5G ....how hard should that be.. to find correct screen lol. some websites say theirs are lcd other say amoled.. !!.. it suppose to be amoled only hm -and whats this about tape the cracked screen ? why.. i just trow mine away. glass and that metal foil that is acutally the screen .. away. i guess replacement screen you get both finished fit together.. atleast it looks like this in this guide.
the only problem i have with this tutorial is the number of unnecessary steps they take, like completely removing the wireless charging coil, you can remove the coil and the charge port cover bracket in one piece, just dont peel the coil off
Im gonna replace the lcd and back cover of my s20 ultra myself since it looked easy and i dont wanna pay a technician so i could qvoid his overpriced labor fee

@IfixitYourself where did you buy this screen
Another great video.
Nice job 👌
Seriously, why would u glue everything up? What happened to screws
Probably to make it as difficult as possible to repair and to discourage repair attempts
