I have the insta x3 and GoPro max, both great camera's with the insta winning due to its editing software. Gopro could easily fix that by updating there's but for some reason have decided not to which no doubt affects their sales. The max to me is a more durable camera which has better natural colours straight out of the box. I do agree fully what you're saying, they should not be labeled as actions cameras as their way to vulnerable to breakages. My x3 was away for 4 weeks for a lens repair and now I'm nearly to afraid to use it. The Max's glass seems more durable to me. DJI will rattle this 360 game when they release there's........ One younger to another

I’ve replaced lens on mine myself but it’s a choir… fingers crossed for next gen with easily replaceable lenses!

Valid points about scratching the lenses on the 360 cameras and how difficult it is to replace or repair them. Even the Insta360 One RS 1 inch edition (needs a better name), you cant cheaply replace only the lens module. I wish they would sell only the lens module but they wont and you end up paying about 600 USD and end up with extra stuff you might not want. I use the 1 inch edition for non action videos, that camera is not meant for it.

They’re great cameras, the 1 inch is superb, just a shame there’s no economical way of changing the lens on them. Maybe Insta X4 or GoPro Max 2 will solve this.

I have the X3 and it's superb but yes the X4 needs to have lenses that can be unscrewed.

Thanks bud, so many products are getting massively overhyped by 'influencers' misleading people into spending hard earned bucks on something that's not really fit for (their) purpose.

@@JakeOski i came across your videos while searching “GoPro MAX - still worth in 2024?”
I have a good deal for a NEW one for about 270 GBP (equivalent in EUR)
I already own the GoPro Hero 10 and have Max Lens Mod.
      Should I get the MAX?
      What do you think?

Depends on how you're gonna use it - the only time right now I take my 360 camera out is if I need a 3rd person perspective and I can't fly my drone in the area, otherwise I just use my GoPro 12 for all POV stuff as I don't have to worry about trashing it that much. Also, the footage from GP looks WAY better.
So if you need that extra perspective to what you're doing, it sounds like a good deal! Having said that I'm sure they'll be releasing new one soon ;)

@@JakeOski hey, yeah, I know they’ll be releasing a new model soon, but the purchase price will be high.
I would like to you use it for travel videos, not necessarily for mountain biking/downhill or surfing videos…
I’m not much of an extreme sports guy, but I am active.
Thanks for the good and straightforward advices!
I’ll be watching your videos now, maybe I find some other interesting things too!

For a third person stuff and “fake drone shots” yeah might be handy :)

Lick the lens when you start and rinse and the water will bead off. Great point. Easy and cost-effective replacements would really add to the value of the Insta 360 series. The bigass Leica lens on the One-inch is also very vulnerable.

Yeah maybe in the next iteration of either GoPro Max or Insta360, that would be a much welcome upgrade.

100% agreed. I own 2 Insta 3X and 1 Gopro Max. I got one of the Insta’s repaired. Had to send it to Hongkong, it took 4 weeks until I got it back. Yesterday I dropped the camera again. I will just throw it away. For some reason I did not scratch the Gopro yet, maybe I have been lucky.
Anyway, I hope to see the Gopro Max 2 soon, those Insta’s do not convince me at all.

Don’t throw it away dude, have a look here, I’ve managed to replace the lens fairly easily myself: ruclips.net/video/tj6fSno6tG8/видео.html
But yeah, fingers crossed Max 2 or X4 will have screw-on lens like some of the knock-off copies!

Insta 360 x3 and one rs twin edition which one is better for motovloging and reels ?

    • @JakeOski
      @JakeOski  6 месяцев назад

If you want just one camera for POV and 360 shots the RS sounds like a better option. I very much prefer the POV coming out of standard wide angle lens, quality of the 360 clips are still lacking in comparison. Again, with the RS system there's no replaceable lens covers so you've gotta be careful not to scratch the lens. You can also pick up a second hand X2 for cheap and maybe a DJI Action 4 that's on sale right now - this way you can record your POV when riding and 360 footage at the same time. Also, with the DJI Mic 2 you can have that connected to your Action 4 for clear talking audio if needed - pretty neat :)

Due to the fragile nature of 360 lenses I don't really regard my Insta360 as a true action camera. For anything where I think damage is a genuine possibility I go to my trusty old GoPro.
