Haha, yeah man, i did, i fact i have it installed in my smarthphone and some games play pretty well, actually, i just hook up my X360 controller and games like Raptor, Doom, etc ply well enough.
This game deserves to be made into a 1080p version with a 100 levels and full blown animated weapons buying and installation, various flying back to the hangar scenes and like a demo for all weapoms before buying. I would buy it for $40.
people miss what made these games so special... exactly the lack of 60 FPS... ok I can get 1080p, the same treatment as... let's say Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters... that treatment... but besides that, "60 FPS" is not a solution to everything... for all I know, 60 FPS makes some games look corny and cheesy... some games look better at 20/24 FPS than others do at 60 FPS (look at Metal Gear games running at 20 FPS most of the time, Tomb Raider games, etc)
another thing that made older games special: ability to quicksave-quickload restore to previous saved points at will... it greatly increased the player's desire to experiment different tactics without the fear of perpetually ruining the savefile and having to start over again... modern game design fucking sucks
@@FeelingShred Shmups should absolutely be 60fps at least, they're fast twitch action games. Virtually all Shmups in Arcades are 60fps, not to mention decades of console shmups. God DAMN, I've been lookin' all over for this. You're doing God's work, man. Keep it up. Just doesn't sound the same as it did with old-fashioned soundfonts.
I literally haven't played this game in 20 years, never even watched a RUclips playthrough on it or anything, and the music in this game is still stuck in my head everyday all these years later. Especially Wave 1.
This is one of the soundtracks to my childhood, and one of the very earliest games I played. I got the demo off of AOL around 1995-1996. I had already developed an obsession with airplanes and fighters before, but this certainly helped me along. I also got demos for games like the original Warcraft and Command and Conquer off of AOL.
greatest Airplanes I've ever seen in a game are the World War 1 planes in the game Flying Corps (Rowan Software) kinda competitor to Red Baron game but with more details in the missions and more customization compared to Red Baron
Back when we were not the only ones captivated by these games but also our fathers usually couldn't wait until the computer was free for them to play...
office suite during the day, hardcore gaming at night hours 🤣🤣let me tell ya, for such an evil satanist pig Bill Gates has become recently, he has provided plenty of beautiful family memories inside people's homes... humans are such a mystery, it's such a dichotomy, both sides good and evil exist in the same person
I remember trying to learn these songs by ear when I was a teenager. I had pretty good grip on the first track. Not that it's really technically difficult anythng but the lead synth sounds amazing as a guitar solo.
Started playing this in the 90s when I was 6 or 7. Could never bet past level 2 or 3 until I discovered when I was in junior high the key winning strategy...don't buy anything until level 3 or 4 and then buy the autotrack mini gun (sell everything else you own if you have to). The rest of the game becomes pretty simple from there.
i sometimes still remember some of the melodies of this :), i guess this is part of the sound of my childhood. so awesome! Thanks for uploading, btw do you have .midi files?
The horrible thing is that I never heard the music for years... PC was so garbage it didn't even have any music! I had to play with just the blasting sounds while I missed out on this awesomeness for ages!
same with me playing the shareware demo of Death Rally with no music for years, and then hearing the music of it for the 1st time, it was like a revelation or some shit 🤣🤣one of the most epic DOS soundtracks out there for sure (Death Rally - Remedy Entertainment 1996 - same company responsible for Max Payne later on)
Oh gosh thank you! Been looking for this for so long. This used to be one of my favourite games from the GOG Red Edition game disc. Could listen to this all day and not get bored. So many memories :D
I am setting up my DOS computer and this is the first game that I am running on it. Any advice for getting an MPU-401 board to work with the game (not going through gameport) for my external GM sound modules? I am at a lose but then again, I have forgotten pretty anything I ever knew about DOS, autoexec.bat, config.sys, etc...
this is one of the very few DOS games where actually the Adlib version sounds better than the MIDI version, same case with Wacky Wheels, Hocus Pocus, basically most Apogee games, and earlier RPG's such as Dungeon Master 1 & 2 etc...
Such a classic game! I suddenly had the biggest earworm for this soundtrack when listening to the Shpongle track "And the Day Turned to Night" starting at ~14:12 (ruclips.net/video/j-JlQPIqdj4/видео.html). Went RUclips hunting and found that motif (or melody? or whatever?) resembles the one in "Wave Music 2" here in this Raptor soundtrack at ~4:20 (ruclips.net/video/VDhvis4-bV0/видео.html). Ahhh... Satisfaction! Felt like I went back in time 25 years. These tunes are literally antiques now. :D
if anyone has Steam search their bundles they might still have the Apogee/3D Realms bundle which has full versions of all their games from Math/Word Rescue, Monster Bash, Raptor Call of the Shadows, Duke Nukem 3D and others
i'm pretty sure this is the 2010 edition i cannot remember the game ever sounding like this :c edit: did some reading apparently different soundcards actually did midis differently or some bollocks the only recordings of the game that sound like it did on my old IBM are on MGSRevolvers channel (it also sounds like that on DOSbox) so by the power of deduction i must of had a soundblaster card
The memories... THE MEMORIES! PLEASE STOP THIS NOSTALGIA!!!!

My inner child thanks you so much for updating this. Best retro ost ever.
I had a shareware disc with this, Rise of the Triad, Whacky Wheels, Wolfenstein 3D and Duke Nukem 2. They don't make games like they use to.
Have a similar cd with those games and Heretic. Still keeping it till today.

Patrick Halton you’re not wrong. I guess nobody will ever beat Bobby Prince for ripping off music though.
Waver Music 4 of the game Raptor is the one tune stuck in my head for over 20+ years. I finally remember where it came from!
