my friend is a hairdresser who rents a chair - she likes to work on days the salon is officially closed so that she’s not distracted by coworkers or waiting to mix things so that’s prob whats going on

Even as a dude, whenever I go to my barber I usually tell him, i want my sides cleaned up and he can do whatever he wants. sometimes i walk out with a taper sometimes it’s a fade, but it always looks good. If you have a good barber/stylist they will know what will fit your head and they get to be creative

There’s a salon by me that serves tea, coffee, and alcohol. It’s a very nice place, has a cozy, homey feel to it and the people are very nice. (Northern Virginia USA, close to DC) bit expensive but at least they do a good job.

The majority don’t go too far out of the box for fear of the client not liking it and also because not every stylist wants to spend all day on 1 head. Tbh they did good. I’ve given free reign for a decade and most will not go past a shade or two from you natural hair color. So for him to pick teal and a pinkish purple, it was stepping further out of the box than most.

hairstylist or cosmetologist probably love this when a customer tells them they can do whatever they want. my sister is a hairstylist and she knows if she ever wants to try something like hair dye, haircut and etc or practice a hairstyle she can always practice on mine. it always turns out great 🙃💕
I’m a hairstylist I can tell you it isn’t always easy to do whatever to a client’s hair, you have to do your consultation And that’s where we see your the condition of the hair, scalp, density your facial shape, etc I could go on and on lol sometimes it’s a little hard , not all the time though. We have to be quick so we can fit in all other clients as well so if it’s a colour correction problem etc it will make the appt a little longer

In my country they would just do the most expensive and easiest thing and that's it and that's why I find it dumb to tell a stylist to do whatever they want.
It depends on the money you're putting in, how busy it is and how creative the hair stylist is.
They should’ve had her facing away from the mirror and not be able to see absolutely anything till the end reveal.

I have a really expensive high end salon in my city that once a month will give you a free hair makeover (full cut and color) if you let them do whatever they want no conditions (except maybe something small like no blunt bangs or no yellow hair etc) and I remember going in once when I was in high school and the girl told me I reminded her of a character from a show she loves and she did my hair a gorgeous pastel pink with purple underneath on a really cute fluffy bob cut and it was one of my favorite hair looks ever i with so badly I had kept her contact info so I could go back to her
